I don't understand why would a doctor comment on your music genre preferences! To be honest, even I'm told not to listen to such music that awakes "the gothic soul in you" but I just can't get enough of it. I don't know why but I feel like I'm in a different world when I listen to such songs.

Recently I've been in major/suicidal depression and I told my therapist to listen to this song and she went and listened to al the other stuff too, some of which is very creepy. She told me the next day that she was severely worried for anyone who listenend to this stuff because it was ' not appropriate for people in your mental state' ! Hahahahahaha. Such an idiot. I was laghing hysterically through my next lessons.
@martharoyce Psychiatrists and stuff like that doesn't help at all for us ;). I don't know why you do it, but I know what you're going trough. If you want here are a few tips : don't draw too much attention, act happy and "cured" in front of your psychiatrist and try to find something else for the cutting. My main thing is I started smoking, but it helps ;). Hope you found this useful

Normally, would not bring such a thing up unless it was in context, but I seriously think dark music like this, and other bands helps me feel LESS depressed. It's catharsis, I'm sure many musicians have felt the way we do and expressed it through music, and without their music, would be way, WAY worse off. You should make that point to your therapist

Because the actual band members have a bit of a sorted past with each other and some people just feel the need to pick up and run with their loyalty flags. I agree with you, I like them both. However, in the newer stuff, I think MS has better sounding production.

i woke up one morning and the ending was playing, me being an idiot thought someone was in my room speaking to me. I began crying and thinking i was going to die. It just shows that nox arcana has an impact on people that you wont notice until you really listen.
