  • you should make another video of you and duncan again like you made on with clue

  • Wow! She is doing great! I'm glad things are going well for you.

  • she looks great!!

    congrats on the progress!

  • she is such a pretty girl!!!

    and she looks great!

  • hi I also had a gelding at Daisy's with bad abscesses in the back feet that daisy has worked her magic on (still on road to recovery yet) but it is great to see Clue doing so well!!! Enjoy her and keep up the good work!!!

  • Thank you! It's a long, hard road, but it's worth the journey for the progress I've seen in her. I wish you the best of luck with your gelding!

  • wow, fabulous, she's wonderful Mel, great job

  • Thank you!! :)

  • Yea Clue! She looks GREAT! Best she's moved so far! I love how much more relaxed her canter looks...I think she's really getting it! I've noticed her body condition really improving with the work too! LOVE IT! Keep up the great work! :)

  • Thank you, Daisy, and thanks for helping us get to this point! :)

  • she looks really good. but there is one thing i can tell that might help is. she needs more bend to her body. she also seems off balance at the canter witch is understandable for what haddened. but if you get more bend in her body and neck she will sort that out her self other than that she looks great.

  • I see where you're coming from. At this point, I can only ask her for so much bend--we are working on bringing it back--but it would overtax her muscles if I push it too far, you know? As we progress in the under saddle work, that's certainly something that needs to be taken into account.

  • Yes. its just like if you lets say broke your leg. you cant just take off running as soon as the cast is off you have to rebuild the mucle. :) but i would do alot of flexing in her neck having her bend around to touch your foot. i like that cause im big into western but my jumper does that two and she just got dignosed with a bone spur so i have to low rides. you should try it own her if it dont work she will sourt it out her self when she is more sound. :) good luck Clue

  • she looks absolutley fantastic! and so do you. i love watching your videos. your a great rider. i hope clue is back to jumping as soon as possible(:

  • Thank you very much! We're taking things as they come, and we'll see where it leads us!

  • I've been watching you, Clue, and Duncan for what, a year? More? Watching you and Clue working together again (with such a lovely canter!) made me tear up a little. So proud of both of you. You've done a great job. Congratulations.

  • Thank you so much for your continued viewing and support! :)

  • Thew combination of you laughing and crying just proves once more she is still the same little spirited girl she always has been. As much fun the cruise probably was i cant help but think you must have been happy beeing back home and beeing able to go see her let alone ride to. Keep the progress and videos comming and thanks jen for keeping an eye on her and lungeing her all us clue fans and carers apriciate that as well.

  • It was great to come back--if I could have brought the horses on the cruise, that would have been perfect, haha! Yeah, Jen is super awesome for keeping things on track for me in my absence!

  • YAY CLUE!!!! =D I missed your videos of her! haha. can't wait to see more! and of course of duncan!

  • Thank you :) :)

  • ahhh shes so cute!!! im happy how well she doing! will you ever get to jump her again?

  • Thank you! I think it's in the cards for us when she's ready, but there's much that has to be factored in before that decision can be made.

  • Shes looking good, great job, Im happy for you that everything is working out, best of luck

  • Thank you very much!

  • She looks so good! I love her canter, it looks comfortable. :]

    GOOD song too!!! :D

  • Oh, it definitely is comfortable! I missed it! :) Thank you.

  • She looks great!!! You have done a great job...both of you!!!

  • Many thanks :)

  • She looks amazing...keep up the great work!

  • Thank you!! :)

  • Well, I'm not familiar w/ the barn nor the owner, but I've just expressed what would upset me were I in that situation. Make sure any decisions you make are well thought out...and be careful about what you say online, as this is a pretty public page.

  • Thank you so much, Bri! :)

  • shes so cute :)

will she ever be able to jump w/ her injury?

  • A veterinarian who deals with horses coming back from injuries said she would be able to. Her farrier has said so as well, and her radiographs improved considerably from when we got into this mess. Still, I was very skeptical. Now, I'm starting to think it will happen. She jumped out of her paddock (and back in!) when she was at the farrier's farm...and based on how she leaps about four or five feet in the air on her own when she's hyper, I think it's really possible. :)

  • thats good =]

  • Wow, she looks awesome! Her trot is really coming along, and you can tell she is beginning to really get a handle on her 'working' mind again xD I loved the end lol. My friend's horse popped a splint a while back, and while he was on pasture rest, there was a small jump in the round pen he was in, and we drove up to find him canter circles over it O.o Sometimes a horse just loves to jump xD

  • Aww! That story is hilarious! I think Clue has the same mindset--no doubt that if there was a jump left out somewhere that she was turned out, she would attack it! Thank you for your comment! :)

  • It's SO great to see Clue again. I've been following the videos and she's looking great. I start to cry every new video I see of her! xD I'm so happy that she's doing so well. The end brought tears to my eyes. She just can't wait to get back to jumping!

  • Thank you very much! She makes me cry quite frequently--early on, it was out of disappointment for what had happened to her, but now it's just out of surprise and awe for how much she loves life and how much she wants to be back to work. I appreciate your comment! :)

  • How nice of jen to fill in for you while you were on vacation to keep Clue on track :]

wow - at some points it seems like she's more comfortable and fluid at the canter than the trot! It's almost impossible to see traces of the injury! How precious that she wanted to have some fun over the jump! She's probably itching to get back to her old job :D I'm sure you've gotten this question 100 times but do you have any idea when/if she'll be back to jumping?

  • Thanks for commenting! Yeah, Jen rules for many reasons, and I count this among them! :) I think she will be able to jump again, but I'm going to let her let me know when she's ready. I think it's important to ensure that her balance is there, and that I've built her muscles up adequately. Maybe by the end of the summer we'll be able to play with a crossrail? :) Not sure, but I'll be keeping an eye on her radiographs and consulting with the professional opinions involved in her case. :)

  • yeah - it's definitely great to have barn buddies that can keep an eye on your horse when you can't be ther! i definitely agree that it's wise to wait until she has her balance back :D lol i think that clue thinks she's ready - but i think it's best she left that decision up to you haha. from the looks of her progress atm it seems like she'll be ready to try a little xrail before summer - it's amazing that she'll even be jumping again period though!

  • Clue is gorgeous! She looks sort of like a thoroughbred. But I can also see the quarter horse assests. Also the lime green bell boots are really cute on her.

  • Thank you! She actually gets mistaken for a TB quite often. The boots are Davis boots. :)

  • Yah it was just how her head looks. I rode a Quarter Horse that looks exactly like a thoroughbred. People always said that his papers must have been mis-printed.

And no problem. You guys are fabulous. I also admire you and Duncan. You have a great position.

Just a question. Is Duncan's show name Bayou Lights?

  • Thank you very much for your kind remarks. Yes, Duncan's show name is Bayou Lights. :)

  • Yah. I was looking at barns and saw a picture of him. And I was trying to figure out what horse he was in the standing. So I figured it was him, because he did the jumpers. =] I love him. He's adorable!

  • Thanks!! :)

  • she looks amazing, and so do you. I can't tell you how much I love your horses!

  • Thank you very much, that's so sweet! :)

  • You both have such a wonderful work ethic. :) I'm so proud of the two of you. This almost made me cry. Love you both!

  • Aw, thank you! Thanks for taking up the lunge line for me in my absence! :)

  • Amazing job with her.... wow she looks so balanced for only her second canter under saddle in about 2 years... cant wait to see her jumping once again :)

  • Thank you! Yeah, now that she's gaining some confidence with it and remembering, she's picking it up again quickly! Regardless, I still want to ensure I get her balance, muscle, and stamina back to where I feel they need to be. Stamina-wise, she's already pretty much there, lol, but the rest will come with time. :)

  • hey its me, ladyblue. im not sure ifyou remember me. but yea. my pony recently died. and i got a new horse! update! and im doing the same as your doing with clue. cuz shes an ottb mare. and has a swole right hind fetlock. so we tke it slow! but shes doing well! and im so happy for you and clue! you guys are doing amazing!

  • I remember you! I'll check in on your videos. Thank you very much for commenting, and good luck with your new horse's rehabilitation! :)

  • thanks! i take her over to wmec for lessons and everyone loves her! clue is doing awesome by the way! congrats!

  • Thanks again :)

  • np! do you know the barn secluded acres?

  • Haven't heard of it; do they have a website?

  • yea they do. i was just wondering cuz we recently moved there because its like a trail barn, and then i show with west milford across the street. but my horse had a gash on her leg and the guy didnt bother to tell me. and then my new one had a sore leg and was limping and didnt bother to tell us. and he also said that we werent allowed to put shoes on her. my mom is pissed! lol! soi was wondering if you knew anything about that barn.

  • Oh my! That sounds a bit concerning...I'd pitch a MAJOR hissy if one of my horses got hurt and I didn't get a call! Fortunately, our barn is fabulous and I'm always kept in the loop on what's up. Really, the decision to shoe/not to shoe should come down to your research and your discussion with a farrier--if the barn owner is not involved in the training, that seems unacceptable for him to weigh in.

  • wow you need to move barns immediately!!! for them to not tell you when your horse gets lame is absolutely ridiculous. and someone else can't tell you what you can and cannot do with your own horse.

  • ahh i love Clue! It's nice to hear shes still going well, she certainly remembers her jumping days, i actually thought she might jump the pole she really lowerd her head into them. Has she tried any of her old bucking tricks with you onboard yet?

  • The last time she really tried anything was the last time we rode outside, a very windy day in March. Horses were galloping around outside, and she wanted to run. She didn't appreciate being held back and started hopping a little, then reared. Fortunately, that's all it was--her just being her opinionated self. She was about as perfectly behaved as a horse could be on the day seen in this video--especially now that she's allowed to open up and canter a bit!
