Pls Reply im desperate 4 help.
ahhh jungles...gotta love those snakes, i have one about two years old, a beautiful bright yellow, it's mother was also had very bright yellow. I also have a baby one thats not an ivory, but seems white, when it grows up we'll see if it stays that way :P
thanks man, carpets are great! Domine is Diamond Patterned. Ive only seen 1 Ivory or "white" Diamond JCP up close and it was probably the best looking snake i had ever seen. good luck with yours.
I just got one about 7months old and he's still a bit nippy. but hasn't really shown aggression. it's more so fear. But that will pass once he learns YOUR Scent.
so from what i understand. handle them a few times a day if needed.. once he's out he's pretty good. he doesn't like anything sneaking up on him, so make sure he's aware. even if i go in his cage i generally touch him to let him know i'm here. and i'm not hurting you..
The Best advice i can tell you is that the snake has NO intentions on eating you. YES hes snappy cause he thinks you are a threat the best thing to do to stabelize him is let him snap at you untill he stops keep approaching him in a nice non aggressive manner and that carpet python with stabelize alot fast and ultimatey will look to you for help in many ways he will become your friend as long as you show him NO fear as well as no threat I can now handle all my snakes while STINKING like rodent!
"...can handle all my snakes while stinking like a rodent"?
For others out there, this is generally a bad habit to get into. With medium size snakes like JCP's a bite is no biggie, but you shouldn't get into this practice. I bred Burmese Pythons for several years, and all were extremely docile. However, smelling like a rodent around feeding time with a larger snake is simply irresponsible and potentially dangerous. Just wanted to state that for potential new snake owners out there.
Hey no offense man, but at what point in my statement did I encourage anyone to do that? Just wanted to state that for others that may potentially read your reply and get the wrong idea about what I said.
BTW, I handled one yesterday at the petstore he was about 4 years old she was huge and really beautiful. BTW are they hard to tame. some people say there really agrresive but I also got to handle baby ones. and for some reason They really like me. the only thing I could think of it's How my whole arm and hand was lol
So you think You can give me an advice on them before I do own one?
so you think it might be better to get an adult carpet python...I mean Im getting 2 carpets btw. =] So Yea I know how to tame snakes and take care of there health...I was just wondering Because your raiseing 2 =]
it doesnt hurt, ive had my snakes latch on and constrict me b4 but i do it purposely at a young age to help develope their instincts. an adult JCP will have over 100 teeth, i wouldnt tangle with an unestablished adult JCP, babies are fine...dont be scared, thats the key.
man i sware i think my carpet is a coastalxjungle he has some similar patterns and colors as yers has a X on his head aswell but he looks like a coastal aswell i dunno its my first carpet im posting the vid soon
man i got my coastal carpet the other week...the guy said hes about a year now and hes a bit nippy allways in the s shape when i go to grab him from the enclosure i only got bit once and it was the first day home i came around the front fast and he nailed my finger it was kinda funney tho didnt hurt at all but just made me jump haha...but yea now after a few days of holding him and sutch i can tell allready hes getting calmer and used to being handled and all...there really awesome snakes
thanks for the advise man i just got 2 JCP last week and they are very snappy and some idiot from the reppy store told me i should get rid of em cose they dont stop bitting theur whole life... they are 8 months old 2day and the guy who i got em of didnt handle them at all so i guess they are just getting used to it
Nice JCP i've had my baby girl for a week and she is a nasty nasty girl the male will arrive in the end of Aug, who long did it take yours to calm down?
HA!yea babies can be nasty!just handle them as much as possible, let it bite you now so it learns early your not food or a threat.they will have no interest in biting you in a short perion of time. I got domine about at 1 year old which made it alot harder to make him more docile. hes a little older than that in this video. he can be moody, but hes now 2 years old and so awesome hes extremely active but theres almost NO aggression a little hiss hiss here & there. thats all! thanks!
Thanks man hes just being Domine Ive ONLY had him about 8 months or so and MAN has he come ALONG way!JCP's ARE VERY SNAPPY as Hatchlings if they are NOT broken in the first year or so it could be difficult to handle them as ADULT JCPs Like Domine will have OVER 100 TEETH some SEMI retractable! you DO NOT want to get bitten by That! Its all In the FEEDING!He knows what food is and he knows what IS and is NOT a threat I only need him to realize that the CAMERA IS NOT a THREAT!I WILL get him there!
this guy reminds me of my female retic! except i cant put her on my neck & have her strike another object LOL, i wonder if you can train him to sick someone while he's on your neck will he do it? LOL, (kind of like your protector) IF i started running will he chase me? LOL, only if you would have said sit...will he do it? LOL, i've never seen a snake perform that way. great job! awesome! 6******'$
I thot you fed your snakes rats, not cams:) great action, is he fast! even though a little blurred at times, his colors are beautiful. If an agressive snake can be retrained
great video just one question how often do you feed your carpet because i feed mine once a week on fuzzies and she turns 1 on the 1st of february and she is nowhere near as big as yours is this a problem??
Hatchlings Should get up to 3 pinkies every 5-10 days Untill about 1 year old, Then they should be weened off of 3 Items and and Put onto 1 "If Possible". Domine Is 1.5 years Old, and he usually gets 1 "small" rat per week, or 1-2 Mice per week! It's Important to try and feed your snake as little as possible at ONE TIME. Never feeding the snake(JCP)ANYTHING bigger than It's BODY! Try and Satisfy your pet with ONE Item, It Is very rewarding! I Encourage Ratings as well, Thanks for the comment!
I started Him on 1 small Rat per week, or 2 small mice at 1 year old. Domine "Doubled" in Size over the last 6 Months.snakes gorw in stages, unless you POWER feed them. Feed Him Right and give a good envirionment, and he'll be fine!

As Babies they are very snappy but become very docile as adults... it also depends on the owner.

only if you get them at an older age they can sometimes not be broken, however most JCP's are agressive up to about 3 years old.
