you won't be able to take this song seriously after listening to the bonzo dog band's version . . . 'darling please show me some proof of your good intentions. i'd like it on my desk in triplicate by monday morning' . . .B>)
This version rivals Elvis's. Bobby sang his heart out. Elvis couldn't cover anyone with any depth. Never could. He was sooooo shallow. But this version makes me realize that there's no getting past the original.
Bobby Vee is a 2-hit wonder: Take Good Care Of My Baby & The Night Has A Thousand Eyes. I've found nothing else worth listening to. Terry Stafford's single is best. Elvis recorded it, but understated the emotion in the verses & ruined any belief in the listener with his wierd staccato "Suspicion" at the start of each chorus, breaking the 4th wall. Bottom line is that this Vee version is for the trash heap, just like all Fabian & Pat Boone LPs, but I do appreciate the poster for sharing it.
This is the first time that I have heard this verson and as a Booby Vee fan, it's okay but Elvis's voice has more depth and the backing is tinny, song does not suit him
@rohansrider The sound on this whole LP is rather tinny in general, but that's a problem with a lot of old LPs. You have to have a really good record player system to get the best sound.

Saw a Bobby Vee concert just recently! He's such a nice guy and great showman, you don't even care if he doesn't sound likes he's 19 anymore, lol!

I always loved Elivis version of this song, now i love Bobbys version more.
It really does suite his voice.

I've always loved Bobby Vee but I do not like this. If Bobby sings the New sound from England why is he doing this song?
wildhorsestudios1421 1 year ago
@wildhorsestudios1421 What makes it unlikeable is that it doesn't sound like him, and his voice gets lost in the sound which isn't good either.

Nice Terry Stafford cover
Thanks

My favorite version of this song! Although thin sounding, Bobby takes it from being an Elvis imitation into a Bobby Vee styled classic!
