@bbmanmegyer I don't agree with you. Matter does not explode in contact with antimater. If the two get in contact, they annihilate each other. If you want to destroy certain amount of matter you need equal ammount of antimatter. Mixing these two will give you, lterally, nothing.
Also antimatter shield is pointles concept. Just imagine the risks, one little miscalculation and BANG... in one second both, the tripod and your sorry ass are gone without a trace.

@bbmanmegyer As for E.M.P , all countries were working on mothods of protecting their instalations from E.M.P ever since Hiroshima was blown up. Shielded hangars aren't anything special today and i it's known that at least one Leopard 2 tank was equiped with shielding layer and successfully went through tests on nuclear testing site.
So i'm quite sure that both US and UE have reserve forces hidden in shielded locations in case of nuclear attack.

I've read w of the w's 4 times. My favorite book when I was a kid. The science in this version was sooooo preposterous. The Pal version was a good update. If these things were underground for all these centuries we would have dug into one or detected them easy. With all the drilling we've done for oil and foundations, etc. Spielberg screwed up royal here. He should stick to his crappy movie bill of fare and leave the classics alone. The fact that this film did so bad attests to that.

a tank doesn't run any worse because a crewman is paralysed....

I've read w of the w's 4 times. My favorite book when I was a kid. The science in this version was sooooo preposterous. The Pal version was a good update. If these things were underground for all these centuries we would have dug into one or detected them easy. With all the drilling we've done for oil and foundations, etc. Spielberg screwed up royal here. He should stick to his crappy movie bill of fare and leave the classics alone. The fact that this film did so bad attests to that.

Oh also i believe the idea is partly that earth is like a body and the aliens are a virus so it defends itself i guess us being here means earth has an auto immune system problem its antibodies attacking good things too that's how us a mainly destructive force so far as far as earth is concerns even exists humanity sure we may be a virus but at least we are a non alien virus with the exception of tom cruise lol .

For me this movie had the feeling of helplessness and terror that i felt when i saw the live news of 911 times 50000 like if what happened in the movie were real that is this song really conveys that i think and other things 5/5 ty.

yeah The our planet contained germs and bacteria that the aliens immune system could not recognize there for not able to fight the germs off. They died of the common cold.

Well, mountains or not they would find you eventually..those things were finding them in the basements dude...they couldn't even see them there they must have sensed them those aliens must have been smart because they knew exactly where they were hiding, but it disappointed me when the axe killed the eye thing where it went searching for them, but nonetheless great movie. score one for the humans..

yeah aparently when the flaming tripod came up and if you look really carefully you can see an army guy tackle robie and saved him i think they rolled down the hill becuase after he gets tackled you dont see them for the clip and brough him to boston
