  • where do you buy this stuff home depo?

  • @temizery

Yes I used to do that but I burned it out w/ 5 volts (forgot to add a resistor)

  • perfect and clear, i like your camera by the way

  • Will an infrered pen off ebay work?

  • @ConsumerInspector Yes, most of them are made exactly for this system. In fact I don know any other use for an IR pen.

  • my phone got a infared wired huh

  • where is Infrared Light used for?

  • good video!!

a question, which camera you used for this video?

  • what LED light candle 2 or 3 or 8 ? for battery 1.5v

  • well done!!

  • you use an illegal version of windows 7?

  • Windows 7 was in Beta when I made this video and I was running it. If you'll recall, it was free to anyone that wanted to risk it. Not illegal, I even got a License key for it. Then I started using the Release candidate. So, to finally answer your question, no, it was always a legal copy because Microsoft actually made it easier to get a legal copy than try to pirate it. I even got a totally free version of 7 Ultimate for throwing a Win7 launch party.

  • nice video

  • what is that thing you used to drill a hole?

  • That was a Dremel Rotary Tool. An electric drill also works well.

  • I ran across this video by chance. I will probably never need an IR pen, but this video was great. Very well made. 5 stars for a fine video.

  • Thank you.

  • my dosent have a light

  • Check the battery connection, and be sure to use a web cam or digital camera of some sort to check for a light as we can't see IR light with the naked eye.

  • John,

Thanks so much for taking the time to post these directions. They were clear and it was easy for me, who has never held a soldering pen in his life, to make a working model at first attempt. My students will reap the benefits of your efforts.

    Best,

    Marc

  • You're very welcome. And thank you for the comment.

  • looks cool now you just need to learn correct terms. lol. Post--- leads, also you might wanna solder a 10ohm res. so the LED last Longer. also some shrink tubing wouldnt hurt. good vid tho. 5*

  • HAHAHAHA! I realized later how ridiculous it sounded, but I was making the video for a group of teachers and wasn't sure if I should also enhance their vocabulary :-) As for the resister and tubing, great ideas. I'll give that a go around. Thanks for the tips.

  • whats it for?

  • It's for a virtual white board that utilizes the IR camera in A nintendo Wii Remote. Google "Johnny Lee Wiimote Whiteboard". Great stuff.

  • Best explanation so far.

  • how do you power it? I use 2 AA but it doesnt give off enough IR light to reflect back to the wii mote. do you think it ir my IR led thats the problem?

  • I've found that just one N size battery (1.5 volts) does the job. 2 AA should be more than sufficient.

  • @sperryfam 2 AA may burn your bulb out quicker. I used some old PVC pipe and an old Expo marker top for mine. At most 1 AA should be used (same voltage as an N-sized battery I think).

  • These are fantastic instructions for what I am about to do, thanks.

  • nice job man well done ...
