What was done to the top of the battery cell? is the bent bent into that V shape and balanced on the top? and the bottoms are stripped and wrapped around below? and last is the magnet the large brown block it is sitting on or the rod part below the battery?

can it only rotate in that one direction? is there a reason? or could it rotate in the other direction if you first push that way instead??
