My sister left college in 2009 with all fails in her A levels, she then did voluntary office job and then worked at tescos, then she did the police specials and then she got an office job and has been promoted several times and now earns 25k a year, which is good for a 21 year old imo.
I personally find it hard to sympathise with all you people here, I think yes it's hard to find a job but I think it's mostly down to the fact that you're all lazy.
I live in-between Blackburn and Manchester in the North of England. Took me 8 months to find a job, all there was at the job centre was part time nursing home carer and part time cleaning jobs. The job centre always had lines when i went to sign on. the Conservative party isn't really in touch with what's going on in the North or on a local level. Luckily iv found full time work though with a job agency
Keep these blogs going - its only now that 'real people' can leave an accurate record of history. I'm so sick of Ian Duncan Smith accusing the unemployed of being lazy or stupid - I'm in bournemouth, and we had 800 people queueing for 80 jobs at a new Tesco - they all went to migrant workers. They are now putting 1 yr unemployed people down here onto identical work used as part of 'community payback' for burglars and thieves - how degrading is that?
@iBeep2009 this country is going to the dogs. soon there wont be any big corporations left as they are going to the far east for cheap labour. are once great nation of the uk will be no more and soon we will be a third world country along with the usa, canada, france, spain, italy and greece. the uk was finished 5 years ago and its sinking even deeper as we speak.
@zareh77 You are absolutely right. UK GDP projection growth for 2012 (BEST case): 0.9%. Not even a chance to improve the job market with this number. Now, Brazil GDP for 2012? 4.5%. Argentina (and all this noise about Falklands, in 25 years they will be better off than the UK)? 6.7%! Malaysia 5%. And so on. Indeed, the world has changed. I
@iBeep2009 We have just started a non-profit organisation to help people get back into work. It is launching in January 2012 and part of our work is interviewing people who are currently unemployed, taking their views, and then making a free programme that will REALLY make a difference.
It would be great if you wanted to get involved, it would be amazing and you can check out our site through our channel.
Maybe the rise in unemployment in recent years may have a strong influence from the shift in a lot of businesses services to online mediums and electronic services? Cutting out the middle man. therefore lowering the number of jobs. For example, it might take 10 men to manage a company's online services which may have employed more offline. Also our country does not produce hardly anything any more. The country needs to revitalise its productions industries, maybe producing something china cant!
The rich have always governed and probably alway will push people about it's easy for them to push you than to help you. And if you become ill because of it they don't want to know and pass you over to another rich body who also pushes you until you have nowhere or no one to push you then you starve. Evil always pushes you until it either kills you or takes you over but there will always be a rank amonge evil!
Think about this Only the wealthiest Jobs will remain & u say 2 urself I've got nothing against these people there just like u and me. Wake up there not like u and me we wood help our neighbours even if we had only enough to scrape through.
They say 2 u get a job or don't complain but they have no idea how it feels 2 pray 4 the next day 2 come & I not just on about the UK either. New World Order will only work if it favours the poor as well as the rich like butter spread across the world. :(
Skills, experience and the will to look..properly. I have a few of the first, nearly nothing worth speaking of in the second and gradually loosing the third.
im 30, i have been employed mostly since 16 and now i cant get a job for over a YEAR! The problem is i moved to the east Midlands.
i hunt for training, i send cv/cover notes to any possibility (within reason) and i think iv only had a dozen negative replies and only 2 interviews. and thats focusing on min wage employment.
and yeah, I apply for ANY job vacancy. Cleaning, helping the disabled/eldery, Administration. Do I hear anything back, since October? No.
I consider myself, not to be a retard.
I do, however like you say, lack skills, training, decent qualifications. That's another story. Getting qualifications, that mean something is hard to come by when you're unemployed and homeless.
I need to stand on one step, before I can climb the ladder!
I'm from Manchester, Lancashire. I've been out of work since October. I lost my home, and became Homeless. I'm 24.
I signed on for 6weeks, with no help looking for work. They forced me to work 40hours a week, at a local store for £50pound a week. Whilest I was homeless. That is what they expect.
Did I do that?.... NO.
Now, I'm forced to take myself into the Army or something like that. Stupid.
The country is run like a giant corporation, and like any it has over heads to pay, that would be the interest owed to the BOE thanks to bad government spending thanks to tony and co, they want to promote careful investment so expect interest rates to go up after they have drilled the deficit down through higher taxes, higher ed fees, ect. all the while bankers rake in six figure bonuses this crimbo woop de woop woop

Since this ConDem Government has come to power it has been nightmare, I'm unemployed and these cuts are going to worsen my situation, there is going to be fewer jobs than there already are :( and somehow the Government want to get people into work like magic. I'm tired of the deception, 'Fairness' ye right.
The ninety-something percent of the people who are working, and ESPECIALLY the rich, need to pay taxes to pay for the unfortunate and downtrodden. Call it what you will - I call it decency and fairness.
@twochordcool, Only evil can downtrod people and evil they are only God gave them heart and the devil took it away. You could say evil is unfortunate for all of us a Job is much better than a hand out but where are the Jobs I know where the cue is I normaly wait behind 40 others for the same Job. Hows putting someone in trouble fair if there in trouble they need help?
