One has no choice but to lug the engine as it only has one gear and it is belt driven via the large sheave on the back wheel. Revving it too high before releasing clutch will make the belt slip and squeal

Awesome bike - makes my 87 Honda Rebel seem like a young gun - I don't think its good to run an engine (lug it) at a absolute lowest speed though, at least not a car engine. Thinking about building a motorized cruizer bike, you just can't find old classics like this around my area.
