  • Great MUSIC, no words to describe the feeling.

  • I am torn, it is the creme filling of the oreo of the tune, but should one not experience the whole cookie before hearing this ear ecstasy?

    I don't know the answer

  • brought here by a rapper named tourettes.

  • Not God speed But God Like :)

  • not to be annoying but was anyoneelse brought here by the EFN animation by Zeurel when the brother is dying

  • @mechaprime00 Could be. I was.

  • @EliKG114 cool

  • The mp3 for this song (complete), on every PC I've had, in any software, counts down to 0:00 and keeps playing.

I've had several bugs like this with GY!BE, due to large names and whatnot, witch could be a big deal, but it only ads to the mysteriousness of the band.

  • @thepeopletree said the man to his wife

  • i spy with my eye a travis bean

  • Wow!!! That's all I can say. I'm speechless... At the beginning of the song anyway. The song kind of goes off on a whole different tangent.

  • God, this is....just awesome. It's more than music, it is an experience!

  • is the upload bad quality or did the band intentionally produce it this way?

  • @jloo222 Youtube really fucks up the quality on everything that gets uploaded, so It's probably the video.

Try for yourself and download a FLAC version of this album and see if you can hear any difference.

  • such beautiful minds coming together for create something so amazing that i can't even find a word good enough for it.

  • @chrisuk19yootube ah simplistic it is, but is it the notes that are played that make good music, or the notes that are left out? one may say shred metal is 'good' music, but some view music as expression as ones internal self. But I think, fuck if you enjoy it, if you feel it, then it is good music, as perception is reality.

  • If there songs don't give you chills while listening to them your not human. Great band

  • I can see that cello in the back hitting the strings with the bow.

Frogot what that technique is called.

  • @Theonegamefreak "col legno"

  • Amazing music. This should definitely be considered contemporary classical music.

  • @chrisuk19yootube Hey look a pseudointellectual trying to impress people. :) I imagine you wearing some kind of crosshatch sweater vest, possibly glasses, and going to coffee shops to discuss philosophy and modern arts loudly so as to make sure as many people as possible know you're a trendy asshole.

  • palabras todas de libertad gracias a Dios

  • you know this band is incredible when the song's been over for 10 minutes and you're still staring at the screen

  • @chrisuk19yootube Stop being pretentious; it's okay to just say this is great music. I promise.

  • one of the best songs ever made! I Recommend Close to the Edge by yes (first 10 min doesn't make sense first time you listen to it though (But keep listening no matter what) do yourself a favor and listen to it. it is as good as this whole album!)

  • @Anirml agree about Close to the Edge, but I think Gates of Delirium off Relayer is better

  • @chrisuk19yootube It's in all of us. You just gotta find it, unlock it, and release it. Don't be afraid to dream, you live only once. ^_^

  • Hipster tunes FTW!

  • goosebumps over and over again

  • If truth had a sound, this is what it would be.

  • The ambiance is making me nostalgic.. chills of emotion escape through pores. tissue tightens, follicles stand attentive. Waiting for the next sound to equip aurally.

  • @crossofthesphinx Hipster detected. GTFO my internet. I'm using it to make a point.

  • Odd name, fantastic group.

  • Why did it stop? Keep going! Please!

  • omg, last two minutes are so fucking beuatiful!

  • You just gotta play music to know music and this is music

  • 7:39 forward is my personal faviorite part

  • “Music expresses that which can not be said and on which it is impossible to be silent” (Victor Hugo)

Just love it!!! And it is true... "you either feel/get it or you don't"

  • beautiful...

  • @TheFountainhead69

    wow

    your IQ is low

  • @TheFountainhead69 you are entitled to have an opinion, but your comment is childish and ponders my respect towards you and others alike you. When you develop a sense of what is good music and what is bad music, then you can criticize and provide intelligent responses to a band's records, until then, stop wasting peoples time.

  • @stevegunt

Hey Dr. Phil you're not very smart. Go ponder suicide, okay pumpkin?

  • @TheFountainhead69 Fail troll is fail.

  • I go into such a state of peace at 7:40...

  • One of the best musical orgasms recieved at about 2:00

  • DOes anyone know how they make those sounds at the end it is so beautiful? I have ebeen wondering for a while. The wailing almost. Is it electric violin?

  • @funtimeadventures I believe it is e-violin, but I could be wrong. They are always using their instruments in crazy ways liek the guitars sounding like opera singers in sleep

  • The song is a success, the pluralisation is a failure.

  • @ElWeasle antennas is still an accepted spelling, in canada atleast, and that's where these guys are from :P

  • @Zammys0nly NO U

  • There's no debate as to whether this is good or not, it's non-negotiable. If you don't like it, you just don't get it.

    Soon enough.

  • Its so good that i cant stand listening to it.

i must play it. get a band, get a guitar & just fucking jam this shit

  • @traceurstan91 I play! lets do it!

  • Drums are SICK on this track!

  • In all honesty, I would want this to be played at my funeral.

Absolutely inspiring band, music, everything. Just beautiful.

  • @LowBasslin3 funny story (kind of), i actuallly went to a funeral yesterday, and on the way i listened to this song in my car. it was really peaceful, kinda put the whole thing in context...

  • @wayfechylde3 I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm glad music helped you pull through in a way (:

  • @LowBasslin3 thank you!

  • 1 person doesn't have an antenna to heaven

  • Ending to this is just incredible. Such a perfect ending to the Barrowlands gig.

  • The one guy who disliked this is a freakin retard

  • First song I listened to for 2011

I just know everything is going to be okay

  • Glasgow Barrowlands last month was the absolute dugz. Thank You!!

  • outstanding

  • FUCKING HAUNTING

  • I love that part two actually has more views than part 1.

  • love the rolling snares.

  • Saw them in london this week, was so epic.

  • 0:00-2:50 Greatest piece of music ever. Idk if it's a cello or a violin, but throughout that movement, it's just wailing in the back and it's pretty fucking emotional and intense.

  • @bucvcimayne Agreed! Pure Awesomeness!

  • @bucvcimayne Bud, Check out the aussie band Dirty Three, guitar, violin and drums, three piece, Ocean Songs is a good album to start on, hope you do, you will love them aswell :) friend. :P

  • @bucvcimayne that's a bit of a bold statement, 'Greatest piece of music ever'. Have you listened to Hindsight by Anathema or Russia on Ice by Porcupine Tree?

  • @b3naan Music is not about arguments , but mere irrationality . :)

  • @FriKKuzzo You're right :)

  • @b3naan ooo I love Anathema. I gotta say Sigor Ros has induced some profound feelings through me. Muse is mind-blowing with their symphonies or just building up intensity. The Arcade Fire gets pretty epic for an indie/rock band "Black waves/Bad Vibrations" is a good one. Clint Mansell, Ludovico Einaudi, and David Sylvian give me blissful chills with their pieces.

  • @bucvcimayne lil hyperbolic

  • that last movement is absolutely breathtaking and emotional

  • ahhh montreal.... a city of delicious smoked meat and pioneer post rock bands.

  • the most amzing music i own,and have heard,

  • @tacoluver5000 I second that....along with some This Will Destroy You, good funeral music there

  • i can't remember how i discovered these guys but holy shit this stuff takes me away... and its amazing music to do homework too

  • @cyanatelolwut I found out about the band when I saw 28 Days Later!

  • that was just one long continuous note.

  • I think godspeed is the soundtrack for the cosmos and creation

  • This is good

  • I'm still poop'n!!

  • @SamJNewman

    Go kill yourself.

  • Listening to this song, I know for sure that right now I'm alive.

  • Comment removed

  • Somehow, listening to this music when I'm studying increases my productivity. I think it's because the song is always changing with different movements, like in classical music. This allows me to not get stuck up on the "catchiness" of the tune, like pop music. This kind of music also affects the unconscious in some way.

  • Glad to hear there are folks still making this kind of music.

  • I think there is something wrong with the jam on my toast.

  • agreeeed comrade....!

  • mmmmm smooth like skippy peanut butter

  • @maxwolfeee

this cant be the real max wolfee. theres no youtube in the waiting room.

  • Amazing GY!BE is coming to Finland 2011!!!! <3

  • @Peacelyptic wait what? sweet!

  • I call things pretentious, sometimes they are, and sometimes i'm just too thick to understand. GYBE are not pretentious and i cant wait to see them live in the uk in december. As for anyone who thinks GYBE are pretentious, dont worrry, coldsore, snore patrol an ndubz are touring soon, read postman pat books first, if you,re able, they might help you understand the complexities of their lyrics

  • GYBE is the shit. Amazing music. Amazing.

  • There are two instant fails when talking about music, either saying it's boring or saying it's pretentious , when I hear someone say that I don't even care for any arguments or explanations . Just be honest and say that you don't understand the music , you find it to sad , it's not what you're into , you like gaga , anything , but please don't say it's pretentious or boring .... it's for your own good , believe me .

  • @luckysilviano It's not the music that is pretentious, it's the people who talk about it. The people who tell you "This band is AMAZING! They'll blow your mind," make you listen to the music, and then bash you on your lack of culture/intelligence if you don't like it.

  • @luckysilviano I strongly diagree with what you wrote there - when someone thinks something is boring or pretentious they SHOULD say it. I always expect others to say what THEY think, whatever that is and no matetr how wrong I think they are. Because there is no right or wrong when it comes to music. "Just be honest and say that you don't understand the music"? There is no such thing as UNDERSTANDING music. It's music for fuck's sake. Objectivity is an illusion.

  • @luckysilviano You're pretentious and boring :3

  • @luckysilviano well put...very well put...

  • @luckysilviano But there is music that is pretentious and boring. Your Argument is invalid.

I love Godspeed though. I'm not arguing with you, I'm just sayin.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green Drone (for example) at first could seem boring and pretentious, but the way I see it is that it works on a different level, you either feel/get it or you don't. I really think that this kind of music, post-rock, modern classical, etc. music with no lyrics tries to be as sincere as possible, not intellectual-wannabe bullshit. Of course there are pieces of shit like Metal Machine Music, or mainstream, but that's just really bad music, nobody cares for it :D.

  • @luckysilviano I see what you're saying. But sometimes you have to be critical. A lot of newer indie bands are boring and pretentious. Grizzly Bear, Animal Collective, and stuff like that really suck IMO. They're boring and pretentious. And mainstream has an inability to be pretentious because it's strictly for sale. Not saying that there are no good mainstream bands (Black Keys, QOTSA, Zeppelin, Sabbath, they all rule.) Music is really disappointing now. A lot of it is boring and pretentious.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green You are a fucking moron.

  • @egadxxx Why? Because I'm right?

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green I tried listening to Animal Collective and didn't like them, but I don't think they suck or anything, I just didn't imagine psychedelic music going pop, for me psychedelic music today is made by crazy japanese bands like Boredoms and Acid Mothers Temple. But as far as pop music goes I think these indie pop, psychedelic pop bands are enjoyable, some of the lyrics are quite witty at times, nothing to impressive but not for the stupid category either.

  • @luckysilviano If you like the psychedelic stuff, listen to Dead Meadow or Bardo Pond. As far as the indie stuff goes, I only really like post-rock. It has so much feeling. I like a song that makes me go, "Wow. Someone took the time to sit down and create a masterpiece." These guys are really like modern day Bach's and Beethoven's.

  • @luckysilviano Oh cmon dont be silly, I LOVE godspeed black emperor but if someone else finds it boring or pretentious then thats fine too..its not like this is super complicated music or anything, its extremely simplistic and straightforward both technically and harmonically, I just think they create an amazing vibe that my ears adore, I dont expect everyone to feel the same and if they dont it does not mean they 'dont understand it' or are too stupid or anything, they just feel music

  • @luckysilviano differently thats all. There is no need to use this as an excuse to be a pretentious twat and try to look down on other people for not enjoying it or being able to 'understand it'. Check this song out

    /watch?v=NmfzWpp0hMc

I suspect its probably not your kind of thing, maybe to your ears its just noise or random guitar wank, to mine its orgasmic but I wouldnt look down upon you if you thought it was pretentious, just feel sorry that it does not give you the enjoyment it does me.

  • @MetalguitarlessonsUK How can music be pretentious ? Explain to me please. If one of your mates says that he tried listening to a band or something, but finds them pretentious, or boring, what do you understand ? It doesn't say anything about the music itself. Why can't people using fucking accurate descriptions ? I stand by statement, 'pretentious' and 'boring' are terms used by stupid people, who can't find the right words to accurately describe what exactly they don't like about a song.

  • @MetalguitarlessonsUK Duuude, I love Animals as Leaders, and other prog metal, and I still love post-rock. Tosin Abasi is insane.

  • @MetalguitarlessonsUK

What you posted is exactly what I have a problem with in music. As a metal fan I have to wade through this all the time. I'm talking about people putting showcasing technicality over writing good music. The musicians in animals for leaders are GREAT, but they lack the discipline and song writing talent that really makes a band great. I'm not say that was bad by any means I'm just saying that it could be incredible if they flashed their skills instead of showing them off.

  • @luckysilviano you love gaga? lol I know you do ×P

  • haha.. 'pretenctious as shit'

  • 1 helmet wearing short-bus riding bieber fan didnt like this tisk tisk we all feel sorry for him..i loved it

  • @MadeFromNothing don't make fun of people with developmental disabilities, how do you know they don't have good taste in music?

  • @LizardWings i guess you didnt read BIEBER FAN...

  • This to me, is the most amazing kind of music in existence.

  • I thought the song was "She Dreamt She Was a Bulldozer, She Dreamt She Was Alone In an Empty Field" and the last movement of the song was called "Antennas to Heaven"

Anyways, the last movement is absolutely beautiful

  • the end. holy fucking heaven.

  • @MisterDanLorth you are so fuckin right...

  • best part

  • i really dig the soundscapes in this song. Can anyone recommend some more material?

  • @buttteambuttsteam1 If you like this check out Mogwai. I suggest the songs Glasgow Mega Snake, Travel is Dangerous, Batcat, We're No Here, Folk Death 95...really anythign you can get your hands on.

  • @buttteambuttsteam1 Mogwai's album Rock action is the closest i know of

  • Up to 2:32 its a great song, but then after that its a waste of time, any post rock band can make sounds.

  • @robotrip21 huh!? are you kidding me!? This track is so complete. The final sections just takes you away on a magic sonic carpet. it's incredible. The sounds that guitar makes are biblical, relaxing and simple, but somehow haunting and unsettling. True, anyone can make random sounds, but to master them takes talent right?

  • @ribenawrath well, its ok, but really the first few minutes really were awsome and had me jamminf out. maybe I just wanted to jam out alil longer!!!

  • @robotrip21 even with a name such as robotrip21 you don't find the whole song captivating? you have done too much DXM my friend. your soul has rotted and the earth devoured it long ago.

  • @arsia00alex That's a little harsh don't you think?

  • @Aspenshadow721 in retrospect, yes.

  • going to their atp :)

  • this song tears my heart out, stomps on it, and revives it, only to do it ALL OVER AGAIN. best song of all time. literally.

  • Such an amazing and uplifting song.

  • For the 1% chance someone will listen, im trying to spread a video i made for a beautiful band known as team sleep. "death by plane". I put so much effort into it, and need peoples opinions on any improvement i can make.

strangers are the most honest people.

  • post rock?... more like jizz rock

  • @bestwattman lol

  • agree about 8:00 to end. the lead instrument makes the most unusual and lovely sound -- it is like an alien talking or something. is that actually just the guy's GUITAR doing that?!

  • @garfus2 its called effects pedals bro! post-rock bands use them more than anyone else...by far.

  • Hearing this song in such bad quality and reading how moved other people are by this it moved me in a way I haven't experienced from this song in many years.

  • I think this is their best song, and truly:

The end of it is beyond words.

Fun to hear that someone else thinks so too :)

  • Best band!!! best song

    8:00 -End powerful!! and eternity

  • That ending is beyond words.

  • If i ever had to choose 3 bands that i would listen to for the rest of my life, GYBE would be one of them. Without question.

  • @acidflasher999 What would be the other 2?

  • @infinitideagames probably alcest and isis

  • @acidflasher999 I'll have to check them out then :)

  • God in me

  • godspeed is by far one of the most powerful bands ever and they dont even need words.

  • post rock

  • Montreal, Quebec.

  • This is just amazing. And the last theme in this song makes my spine shiver. Actually I cant describe my feelings when i am listening to this song.

  • It's like your soul is rising out of your body to be truley free, then for the last minute your soul crys as it returns to your body.
