  • Cliffhanger is marked double diamond but i find it easier than the diamond trails like hump

  • @solnce71 yeah, the Hump is a tough run and because of it's narrow nature, it is probably as or more difficult than Cliffhanger. BUT, nothing like a ripping run on Cliffhanger. Now that my wife relocated from NJ to Boston, I wll probably never ski there again and I will miss that. Camelback is an outstanding ski area.

  • great vid im headed to vail co in a week but i mostly ski here cus its like an hour away cant wait for colorodo

  • thats really what you call a double black, theres no mougles or powder, in British Columbia that would probably be a blue

  • i went to the nile mile

  • Awesome filming.. and times considering your holding the camera

    1st run ~58 sec

    2nd run ~56 sec

    3rd run ~55 sec

  • These runs are really short

  • YOU GOT BALLS OF STEAL

  • @ciatagticion hopefully you meant STEEL

  • thats like a blue out west.

  • Have you ever gone gone straight down? Planning on trying it this year, I did it everywhere but the steepest part towards the beginning...

  • @Samonuh I have never gone straight down although I have done the whole trail with only a couple of high speed check over the headway. I f I was under 35 years of age, it would have happened. I have slowed down from dangerous to excessive.

  • @Samonuh whats the point of going straight down? you'll be a better skiier if you can do quick stops with ur skiis together as appose to just boooking straight down..

  • @redchilipepers Going straight down is much harder than you think. I takes a hell of a lot of nerve and control...

  • @Samonuh AND good health insurance.

  • @vbdenny Unfortunately, that's where I lack XD

  • @Samonuh in which case you best be very careful. My brother broke both his legs skiing 2 years ago and thankfully he had good health insurance since his medical bills have totaled nearly $100,000 to date

  • @chase00agent113 Tannersville, PA Exit 299 on I-80. If this run isn't bumped up bad, it is a nice double B. While it certainly is not a double B by Colorado or Vermont standards, it is pretty steep and a very nice run with a high speed detachable quad.

  • tht first one looked so easy i dont even remember seein tht 1 wen i went

  • @zeppelinfan97 standing at the base lodge and looking up at the mountain, Cliffhanger is way off to the left on the far express lift.

  • that looks really easy

  • @RedEyesSasuke it is!

  • @RedEyesSasuke Have u skiied or snowboarded b4?.....With a camera? ....And the camera is pointed down....so you see no incline...that slop is extremely steep... if u stood on ur bridge u would go as fast as you would on a normal slope......its FUN AS FUCK!

  • @TheVideoVector HELLS YES!...i hate wen people say its so easy...when u dont see the incline because the cameras pointed down...I LOVE DAT RUN!...lol yea...if ur on ur bridge ull still be flyin....its scary as fuck....i love it......if u where to go straight down ud probably hit 90...

  • @TheVideoVector As the vector said, Cliffhanger is much steeper than it looks on the video. You can actually rip on this trail, just not for as long as some NE trails. I probably won't ski at Camelback much anymore since we are out of Jersey and in Massachusettes now which is very close to NH and VT.

  • is cliffhanger that difficult? because i am used to the more difficult blues and normal black diamonds up in NH and this looks like a normal black diamond here. But i may be wrong.

  • great question. Cliffhanger has a long pretty steep headwall. They usually groom it fairly frequently so it isn't mogaled up bad. I have skiied in Vermont and New Hampshire in the past and you would have nothing to worry about.

  • @vbdenny are u like an instructor there?

  • nope, gave that stuff up years ago

  • I'm going skiing there tomorrow :) First time this year. I might just go down Cliffhanger without warming up

  • right along my line of thinking. do a couple hot laps then check in to the lodge for a couple, then go rip. Bring your camera.

  • Last time I brought my camera someone fell infront of me while I was recording, and I quickly turned but slammed into a fence :P

  • The trail isn't really steep by Vermont standards but still a lot of fun when it gets icy and you can rip down. I usually try to wait until there is some ice before I head over there as that is what I like to ski on. I'ts fast, it's dangerous and it's fun.

  • im on intermediate in 1 day so fun tho i ski

  • camlebacks best run!

  • yes it is, no doubt on that one. Cliffhanger is where the action is. Wish I was on it right now.

  • i was there yesterday and they didnt have it open but they had snow blown on it so maybe theyll have it ready for saturday or sunday. that and big pocono i love doing that as my first run in fristtrax

  • Dude I have to admit, I was once one of those pathetic walkers. It completely sucks walking down a trail which takes you an hour to do on ski boots versus just take it like a man and ski the whole way down in half the time ( half the time because your busting your ass the whole way down).

  • oh man, now I feel bad. I have kind of one skiied down before after I lost one. Walking down is a hell of a lot harder than skiing down. From my vantage point, it is clear that you are correct in saying, it sucks. Here is a qucik ski lesson. Lean forward for slow, turns and control, leave back for the opposite.

  • hahaha i hate those pathetic people that walk down...cant take the heat of skiing!

  • Yup, I like to whip right by them close and maybe even kick up a little snow. I can't imagine walking down, that must be really hard.

  • yea andif they r girls, i just grab their asses lol

  • Ilove to do that but one time i did that and my board hit a small mound of puffy snow when i wasnt paing attentiona nd i fella nd the girl went up to me and jabbed me with her pole XD lol i was laughing so much

  • hahaha a girl hit me too, they dont do anything

  • I ski here a lot, I'm by no means an expert (I have to fight my way through some black diamonds and most double blacks out in Utah). The only difficulty in this run is that it's very exposed and it's basically a sheet of ice, it's still much fun to zoom down it, especially at night, when there's no one around, i've done the whole thing in a few seconds.

  • Yeah, I know it is icy but I forgot to mention that I am an ice skier. I actually enjoy the stuff. I have skiied everything else and ice is the ultimate challenge. I have a wicked pair of Atomic Arc 209's just for ice.

  • dude ur so lucky wen i went there were like humungous mounds so it was like the hill had moguls

  • R u KIDDING ME!!! if this is what u call a double out east. Why dont u come to the real mountians in colorado. GO to google images and type in" chute 1, steamboat " That will show u whats up

  • Camelback is only good because the people are nice unlike the resorts that have snowboarders that push you over.

  • i been ther 7 times this year

  • The reason why it's not crowded is because people overrate Cliffhanger so much and claim it's really hard, so people are two afraid to go on it. The only somewhat challenge is the first part. I just went down it my first time a few days a go, and I was like "I was afraid of THIS?"

  • lol this is a double black? you eastcoasters have it bad that's a green tops where I ride at. I would be so bored to ride at this mountain.

  • The camera angle makes it look less steep than it is in real life, although I would agree, our mountains suck, besides Vermont, they are okay. I wish to ski in British Columbia one day.

  • how is driving fun?

  • not sure I understand the question. Is is..

    How is driving, fun?

    or

    how is driving fun?

  • i'm not sure that grammatical errors need to be corrected in order for you to understand the question

but I was just asking how you could compare the mediocrity of driving to snowboarding which is the greatest thing on earth.

  • sorry, I didn't know if you meant do I enjoy driving and was it fun, or that driving was boring. Oh yeah skiing is more fun than driving. I don't board although I did try it. I like ripping and it is much easier for me on skiis since I suck on the board and I don't have the patience to get better. Skiing or snowboarding, being on the snow IS the greatest thing on earth

  • haha right you are my friend and i dont blame you for not snowboarding, i wish i had ski'd when i started out, i would have an easier time on moguls :p

  • Ahh, I tried snowboarding with my friends one time at Seven Springs. I skiied all morning as was really enjoying myself. So my buddy has the same size everything I need. Well, having watched snowboarders for awhile I figure this is a piece of cake. I got beat up bad, The worst part was after catching an inside edge and doing a backsmackdown. I looked up and there were 4 kids on the lift with boards, laughing at me. I said fuck this and went in and got a cold beer, I was hurting.

  • haha yes almost everyone who starts out boarding thinks it's going to be easier than it actually is and 100% of snowboarders' first days ended up with them banged up, i'm sure after a few cold ones you got back on ur skis and tore that mountain up, so its all good, seven springs is a pretty good place

  • Come to colorado and go to silverton. Hardest LEGEAL riding u will ever do

  • i'd love to

  • certainly is. I have driven up and down some pretty steep hils yet when you look at it on the video, it doesn't seem like much at all.

Any non-believers should head on over to Camelback Mountain and whip up to the top on the express lift and then go stand on the lip of Cliffhanger and look over. It gets steeper as it goes on before flattening out for a long runout. What I like about it is than if the snow is fast, you can really hammer through the lower part.

  • why doesnt it look steep on camera?!

i mean its a double black diamond, for pete's sake!

  • cool run i go there almost every weekend

  • i am going there tommorow

  • i go there every week with my friends at ski club after school ends. i like camelback, the mountain's fun.

  • I will be the next Friday. You'll know it's me by the 213CM S9000 skis.

  • Went on january 1. It was alot of fun the blacks were really icy but everything else was pretty good. Very long lift lines, But it was a holiday weekend so. Camelback has all of there trails open now and im hoping to go back in a couple weeks

  • Great video, yes I thought you were going to hit it. Bono Thrills. You'd like a visit to Heavenly where he ate it on the Orion trail.

    Going to Camelback January 11-13.

  • Naw, no Bono or Kennedy action for me. I went over to Camelback today and other than long lift lines, it wasn't too bad. I skiied from around 9 to 2, drank a Yuenling and booked. There are some issues with Camelback this year.

  • is there a lot of ice and a lot of people

  • people yes, lots of people

there was very little ice. The rocket had a little white ice but no blue.

  • yea went there yesterday so packed

  • Camelback has 30 trails but no clifthanger, o well, im going on friday.

  • I will probably go tomorrow (Tues) and probably Friday too.

  • it's always a little sad to see that they actually consider that run a double black

  • I've seen much worse examples. In Virginia what they label as blacks wouldn't even qualify as a blue in many places. Ah shit, ya take what ya get it guess. I was going to go over yesterday but I am waiting for Cliffhanger to open.

  • same that was not a double black, that was a green hill where i go in vermont

  • ahhh Vermont, best skiing around. I know I could go out west and ski deep powder but give me a very cold night with lots of ice and my 213cm S900's and I are very happy. Nice conditions are boring, I like steep slopes with lots of white ice.

  • Im going to camelback on saturday, cant wait to go up, it will be the first time of the season for me.

  • Did you go? give me a report on what blacks are open.

  • yeah they started blowing snow monday night

  • yeah, with this cold weather they oughta be able blow a lot. I think I'll try to go the weekend after Thanksgiving weekend if it holds. Wish I could go this weekend.

  • i dont ski, i snowboard but great video... camelback opens this weekend!!!

  • Camelback opens this weekend? Man, I am ready to go but will have to wait until the week after Thanksgiving. I'll have to check the website to see which trails will be open.

  • "just for bono thrills" your hilarious

  • i want to try bombing cliffhanger with a video camera. might look kinda blurry though. i so want to go snowboarding right now (10-1-08)

  • Hey, I know exactly what you mean. I am counting down the days until the camel opens. I'll probably see you out there this winter. You'll know it is me by the 213's I run. We'll grab a beer or two and then go rip some hot runs.

  • the double black is bigger then it looks

  • yes it is! The video does not do it justice. I ski at Camelback all the time and as a matter of fact, I am itching to ski real soon.

  • wow, thats a black diamond? i go to camelback to snowboard every year. i only got to go once, since i got surgery done on my right foot before christmas.

try tapeing the camera to your head of something, it would give a better angle. and your hands will be free ^_^

  • I'll have something rigged up by next winter. I thought about a headband with a hole cut for the camera. I am a pretty good innovator so something will come of this.

  • if thats double black diamond, I hate to see whe green is. That should be at the most a blue square.

  • without a doubt. I was at Gore Mtn yesterday and their blues are steeper than this. As I said, and eastern DD. You ought to see the southern DD's, should be greens.

  • The DD's on the mountain I go to(Mt. Washington)[on Vancouver island] are damn near vertical, some of the blue squares are on a 45 degree angle.

  • same deal in Vermont and New England, Smaller areas with less elevation tend to draw from what they have.

  • I thought you'd need to tape a camra on your helmet while going down cliffhanger!

  • I thought about it. I had to take it easy because of holding stuff. I don't use a helmet but I am thinking of working out another method of holding the camera.

  • Well bro, I might have had to film in my rear view mode!

  • good runs bro, a little slow...had i been there you would have been filming me going by you! I can say that he's my brother and he taught me how to ski!

  • Nice vid of this run. not so easy to ski with camera in hand, well not for me anyway.

  • I wish I got to ski more often. Next season we'll hook up for a few hugh speed runs and some cold LeBatt Blues...

  • WOW Brother this rocks take me out with you ..PLEASE..

  • youre a good skieer and camera man
