  • Billy joel, not a big fan, but he did good with this!

  • wow, he really is a genuine L.I. guy. i wanted to be bothered by the irony of this speech being given at the waldof astoria, but i couldn't. billy joel is the man. cougar's ok too.

  • best ever

  • dont mind mellencamp but shit H.O.F who's next ??/wild man fischer????

  • where's the EPIC button?!

  • @wordnerdsrock for what, this asshole ????

  • 1987 was the year I found John, Glasgow Scotland was the place, my home city and to this day (No better than this) I buy it all............... Learned a lot watching this thanks for the post !!!.......John if you read this, Get over to Scotland, most of us are like you hard working salt of the earth boys in the mid-west !! keep it real forever !!

  • never seen a more honest man

  • Wow! Look how he went out of his way to show everybody what a bad-ass he is by smoking a cigarette as he came out! Then he put out the cigarette on the stage floor! For 30 years this tool has been telling everybody in his own words what a rebel, and bad-ass he is!..... Hey Mellonhead..A true bad-ass, and rebel never has to constantly remind everybody of it in every interview! Go pick some corn!

  • can anyone tell me why @#$%ING ABBA!!!!!!!!!!!!! is in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?

Who's next Justin Bieber! Take out Abba, Put in Bad company, Take out Madonna, put in deep purple! ( our your favorite ROCK BANDs thats not in there yet) It's getting out of hand.Really!

  • What was the name Indiana first string Q.B. (at the time) that Billy was referring to?

    I was LMAO!!

  • John may not have agreed with the war in Iraq, that's his perogative. The people in power now are just as bad if not worse and he ain't protesting them. What have they done for the farmers in Indiana or anywhere? They are tied to big money just the same as the last administration. Wake up John, big government is big government period.

  • thank you for posting this .i´m a mellencamp-fan for 26 years now and i still love his music and still love him for giving me that great times with his music.i´m german.

  • Rock on forever, John Mellencamp!

  • Forgot to mention Tom Petty and Enya. Out of those 6, no way to say which one I like better.

  • Segar, Mellencamp, and Joel! My top three favorite musicians. Springsteen is up there as well, though, so no hatin on him!

  • All rock singers are smacks, it's a proven fact.. I have been a muxician most of my life and to go onstage is to feed the ego, simple concept. I know many folks who know John and he is not a very nice fellow if you are working for him, but probably decent if you aren't gherming him for an autograph..

  • I come here to commemorate the worthy recognition given to John Mellencamp but again I read comments that John himself I'm sure would cringe and distance himself from. I'm lost on why theres this habit of knocking some down in order to raise others.

  • That was awesome. My favorite singer. Couldn't help but break out into a great big grin whenever he grabbed the mic and went "YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH!" near the end of Pink Houses. Love the guy. Hope I get to see him in concert eventually.

  • John is truely amazing, & long live rock & roll. How can anybody listen to all the rap crap out there these days??

  • i todally agree and im 13!!!!

  • screw rap

  • I never thought Billy Joel would say any curse-words. Wow.

  • Agreed, Him along with Seger and Petty have more overall musical talent then "The Boss" has. The biggest difference is that they all write songs and albums that anyone can sit down and listen to, feeling uplifted. With Springsteen I always feel the urge to jump out a window just to escape the sheer depression I feel when listing to him! Springsteen is obviously talented, but he writes words to music, whereas Seger, Mellencamp and Petty write Lyrics to music... There's a huge difference!!!

  • couldnt agree with you more. segers my personal favorite.

  • @redrocker1055 there is no difference. You stated the exact same thing two times in a row and said There's a huge difference!!!

Do you mean that your take is that Bruce writes poetry first, then winds and wraps the music around it, whereas the others you mention work into a groove they like, and create lyrics to fit the meter? That would be the elusive huge difference.

  • @painxtreme There's a HUGE difference between a "lyric" and a "word..." If you can't understand that simple ideology, then I'll never be able to explain it do you...

  • @redrocker1055 If that were not such a laughable statement, id dignify it with a response, but im not an internet pissing contest participant. And please, I truly am not interested in your response, that is unless you wish to do it to entertain yourself.

  • @painxtreme Congratulations - you got another post! That was, after all, your intent with that asinine attempt at reverse physiology.

    I'm done with you, child!

  • @redrocker1055 It seems the lack of maturity lies on your side of the net, chap. Having to get the last word with a personal jab is something Id expect from my 2 kids still at home but none of my 3 grown ones.

The funniest part is you're thick enough to think it was reverse psychology. I honestly care to hear nothing from you. Hey, it's all about projection, so perhaps you operate on on such a base level, but I do not. Rev. psychology as a debate, or any other tactic, is for the dim, Be well.
