With the DEFI gauge it had a dark smoked display when car was switched off but as soon as car was turned on it went through its test faze and then remained illumination whether or not the light were turned on. You whould have to find out if any of the spare fuse connect are connected to the lights on/off function as I never needto check on that part. I hope this helps. Cheers

is it possible to wire it so that when you turn on your headlights the gauge lights up.

The gauge holder is made by OSIR. If you google them youll find their home page and they can put you onto a retailer who sells their products. Ü. Cheers

What is the model name and number for this boost gauge, i cant find it, i found the boost gauge holder but not the gauge itself. let me know

there are 3 types on these DEFI boost gauges. The red racer that I used , the blue racer and the white racer. The red racer is the best match I think fr the VW GTI. The part number is DF06502. The US model is the best types rather the the SI one . the SI one reads Kpa rather that PSI. let me know if you have any more questions
