@promaja2 Kind of like how Japan had a friendly match with Paraguay, Korea & Nigeria wanted to have some kind of a "rematch", (mainly because the first match ended in a draw) it was also a "consolation match" for Nigeria who couldn't get to the round of 16 as a result of its match with Korea at the WC.
@pong224 Nah Park Chu Young is awesome! People who knows how to watch Football all praises Park Chu Young for his genius play-making skills. Maybe learn to watch Football and you'll start liking him lol..
It's true he doesn't score all that much, but this isn't the 90s anymore where only the Forwards score. In modern Football, everyone scores, including the defenders. So with that in mind, Park Chu Young scores as much as the others.
@Iffeany260 I beg to differ - so far, Nigeria has played 5 games against Korea - 2 draws, 3 losses. But, Nigeria is indeed a STRONG team, and proved to be a very tough opponent for Korea
@Iffeany260 Well, the last coach had no strategical mind whatsoever and mostly relied on the player's skills of scoring using freekicks, corner kicks.
Im a korea fan. and to be honest I really dont like our defence and goalkeeper.
Jung is pretty rubbish :(. I thought we were excellent in attack and midfield in the world cup, but even in this game we show that our defence is SOOO weak. If you look at the clearances, or stupid mistakes. WE CANT DEFEND against set pieces - just basics
I think this is because Koreans like goalscorers and attackers - we need to develop young players into good defenders and keepers!!!!
@capuletmontague1 statements like "Jung is rubbish" doesn't mean anything considering how intensely the players have worked to get themselves in the national team - Nigeria scored by freekick during Lee's last moments as the national goalkeeper, then he was switched by Jung.
Jung's one of the best we have - of the 6 goals scored against korea, one of them was our own, and another was clearly offside - Higuine's 2nd goal was offside, even the Belgian assistant referee later confessed.
@capuletmontague1 so really - it's safe to say that, before korea got to the round of 16, Korea allowed the other teams to score only 4 "legitimate" goals.
As for Korea liking offensive players, I think all countries with relatively little football background have this in common (the Korean national league started in 1983), deep down, they "prioritize getting good FW first", this mentality will change as their national league makes more and more progress.
@capuletmontague1 But, you're right in saying that the Korean defense during WC was highly flawed. I blame on the incompetence of the coach 허접무 and his inferior tactic of seperating the offensive and the defensive squads in two "unconnected" masses.
The new coach had only a few days to prepare for his first match - and it's striking how much improvement he made on the team 허접무 messed up so bad.
ps. look on the bright side - Parkjisung didn't play in the 2nd half and korea made it that far.
@capuletmontague1 One last thing - I know Jung doesn't fulfill the expectation we had on Lee, and it's not so surprising to many of us. He's young and (like the new Italian goalkeeper who played against Slovakia, New Zealand, Croatia) has yet to learn, experience a lot. Jo Yong Hyung made a lot of improvement recently.
I really love the Korean fans! Look at how fanatical they are even for such a simple friendly match...
BTW, this was Lee Woon Jae's last match for the South Korean national team, right? That is a big shame...he was such an excellent keeper. He could have played for a big team in Europe!
@vjboom1: Right now he is too old to move to Europe indeed, although he's not too old to retire. For instance, Van der Sar is 39 (40 in two months) and he is still the first goalkeeper for Manchester United.
Also he is 1.82 meters which is perfectly alright for a goalkeeper. For instance, Mexico's goalkeeper Jorge Campos (one of Mexico's record internationals) is only 1.68 meters.
I'm convinced that if Lee would have moved to Europe at an early age, he would have succeeded.
i feel like this friendly shows just how much KNT has matured after WC2010, like a coming of age for the younger players like PCY. Confidence seems sky high with a new coach, new players, etc. All this keeping in mind it was just a friendly. Entertaining game.
@wontonsipodhelp suk hyun jun is the future who plays for ajax fc and only 18 years old! and Son Heung-Min, who already scored nine goals in free season in germany for Humburger fc and became top goal scorer.... and ONLY 18, and there are more i can name who all play in european club but 2 good examples of korea rising stars.....
can someone explain me why are they playing this match havent they play it on world cup?!?!?!

Odemwingie should please remain our Captain for now.
Please when will they stop inviting Danny Shittu to Super Eagles. That boy is not a footballer. He simply can not play.
