  • It's too late anyway. Have fun with palm oil or else. There 's nothing we can do. 7 billion and still growing. No one cares about your life. Love your family and try to survive for the next 30-50 years. That should be your main concern. Anything else is bullshit. Don't invest any energy in bullshit.

  • WWF save Rainforest!!! I am from Greenpeace and we must know forest eat coal and do Fresh Air (O2) How you can breathe without air we must plant tree and have Air

  • Ohh God frightening stop destruction forest STOP!!!!

  • i love my chocolate bars and palm oil, i have no time for the natural forest, fuck it, feel free to chop it all down

  • WWF - The Pact with the Panda

Brave documentary from the German TV network WDR/SWR about the dubious activities of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Click CC under the video for English subs!

    The accusations:

The WWF supports the use of genetically modified crops.

    The WWF is corrupt.

The WWF tolerates the destruction of rainforest for agricultural development.

Does the WWF indirectly participate in the relocation/displacement of peoples?

  • boycott Palm Oil

  • becareful indonesia before except any help from westerner, please see interview-confessions of an economic hit man - part 1 and part 2 at the you tube hurry before the video being erase. you will understand what is going on. please this is urgent.

  • Not easy to find a solution which really works..not only oon paper but in the field.

  • MR POLSSSSUMMM IS GGGEEEEOOO GOOOOODDDDD I SALUTE YOU MY FRIEND!

  • and what about the orangutans??????????

    total lies!!!!!

  • I think it is stupid to ban all palm oil. Palm oil is the most efficient form of oil for bio-diesel. And bio-diesel is one of the easiest ways to replace transportation currently running on fossil fuel.

Most of the tropics are not rain forest. There are huge areas there which could be used for palm oil production. It just requires some government oversight, and some consequences from Western countries against developing countries which don't know how to drive agriculture in a responsible manner.

  • @SimaanFreeloader yes its important in bio-fuel, but why cant everyone buy an electric car?

  • @DaBoomz13

Because it is much easier to implement an economy based on vehicles fueled by bio-fuel than one with electric vehicles. And if we really want to do something about global warming, we need to find the easiest solution possible, so it can get implemented to the largest extent possible.

Also, biofuels will be a way to help poor countries out of poverty, as both palms and sugar canes, which are the best plants for biofuel, can only be grown in tropical areas, which are traditionally poor.

  • @SimaanFreeloader it'll be heaps helpful to global warming when the production of palm oil produces thousands of times more carbon than is saved by using palm oil as biofuel.

  • @bohun2

Well it's just a question of having rich countries put tariffs on palm oil which comes countries where rain forest is being felled to make space for the palm plantations. That way there won't be any incentive to have such irresponsible behavior. There are plenty of space outside the rain forest in the tropics to make palm oil on. Just look at how they do it in Brazil, where they have a huge sugar cane bio-ethanol industry, all being grown outside the country's rain forests.

  • @DaBoomz13 im totally against palm oil, but how do you get the electricity to power electric cars?? They burn coal which means theres a shit load of emmisions whether cars are electric or petrol/diesel. Using bio-diesel/bio-ethanol still produces emissions and if the rainforest that has been destroyed wasnt destroyed it would have taken more co2 out of the air than what these cars produce. Its stupid.

  • @swat26visor you have been deceived by Greenfarces lies. Palm oil is a very healthy product which originates from west africa. every single humanbeing has used a palmoil product. Its rich in vitamins and its also good for the environment. Palmoil is in food, soap, biofuels etc.

Greenfarce campaign is going to cause alot of smallholding farmers to lose revenue and will increase poverty in developing nations. If people care about orangutans so much you can always visit the zoo. Or Greenfarce HQ

  • @sexymalcom1970 i no all that stuff in the 1st para but thats not the point. y do they have 2 destroy the rainforest which is not only home to orangutangs but many other species of animal. Alot of native indonesians need the rainforest 2 survive because its their home and people arnt tryin to shut down the current palm oil farms, their tryin 2 stop the destruction of whats left so all farmers will be unaffected. They could just use existing land. If it wasnt 4 rainforests, the world b sufocatein

  • I made a video on palm oil, search 'Palm Oil Effects.' First one up.

  • Thousands of forest land that had stood the test of time only to be degraded into cheap milky commercial choco bars being sold in your typical dingy gulag for 'deal' prices... Enjoy that 45p, 2 for 1 Galaxy bar.

  • I only dislike it as it's showing the truth. The content is hideous because it's so unnecessary to ruin our planet in this way. Greedy humans are doing this.

  • This video is not an exaggeration - rain forest turns into sandy, hot deserts. Sadly, many of the local people have been promised great wealth by clearing for palm oil, and then once the thin top soil washes away, they need expensive fertilizers that they can't afford. It becomes a lose-lose situation. Palm oil is in MUCH more than chocolate. Read labels - many non- dairy creamers (especially the powdered kind), many "health food" bars, microwave popcorn and on and on.

  • what do we say to are children when the rain forest is gone , maybe we can tell them that getting from a to b in a hybrid car was more importent . or tell them we needed mars bars more than the orangutans.

  • plz stop buying Mars chocolate bars! specialy galaxy bars ! thay are using palm oil to make more profit !thay dont care about human health & these animals !

  • @stardust79mars Go and study more about the fact about the oil's nutrition and the plant itself. I beg you, as a neutral.

  • @stardust79mars fuck you mother fucker. i fucked your jewish mother with palm oil last night. I put my chocolate bar in your mothers ass, shootd loods of palm oil in her pussy. MOTHER FUCKERRRRRR!!!!!!! FUCKK JEEEEEWWIIIISSSHHH NIGGGAASS!!!

    sit on this: _|_

  • I never knew this about palm oil before. There are other places that have palm oil so I can just get it from people who don't cut down trees if it is possible.I thought that palm oil came from a fruit so there is no reason to cut down all these trees.

  • Perhaps all of us should ask, what about Soy Oil? What about cocoa butter? Those are too, consuming the nature's land as well.

  • Palm oil needs to be made illegal.

Humans are so god damn selfish, there is not even the slightest bit of remorse for chopping down a tree, never mind several acres in any one time!!

    It's so wrong!

  • @SamMitchell90 I may not a palm oil industrialist nor a supporter. But what I feel that right now, most of those anti-palm oil campaign may started by someone who got political agenda with them. And when comes to politics, nothing is clean and clear. And sadly, truth also the first casualty in politics realm.

  • yes, YEEESSS! hasten your demise my stupid little humans, then i JESUS will return and take you all to paradise!

  • ha ha ha yeah right. ill be waiting.

  • Palm oil is not only used as a bio-fuel, it's used in products ranging from margarine, cosmetics, soaps, processed food, shortening, baked goods, and candies.

Palm oil plantations also pollute the soil and water with 'pesticides' and untreated palm oil-mill effluent, cause soil erosion and increased sedimentation in rivers, and cause air pollution due to forest fires.

  • This is just sad. I hope they quit cutting down those trees.

  • Where do you get the facts then? By the way, what's your solution?

  • From several documentaries (including interviews with concerned people), pages on the Internet, articles and the like.

Scientists are still searching for alternative plants that are less harmful but they haven't been very successful yet, as far as I know.

But I would suggest taking the bicycle more often at first. ;)

  • 99% of Palm Oil is used in food industry. You ain't saving any by bicycling dude. Why not cut down your favourite fries and burgers?

  • Yes. Palm oil is used for food very much too but I doubt that it is as high as 99%.

The production of palm oil has doubled since 1995 because of the increasing energetic use and the demand for biofuel.

  • You're ill-informed. Channel your energy to more productive work will you?

  • In what point am I ill-informed? Then please show me some facts and give them a reason.

Fossile fuel is limited. That's why they search for alternatives like biofuels (sugar cane, palm oil etc.).

And that's the reason why 99% of Palm Oil in the food industry is exaggerated.

  • Stop regurgitating what other people had mentioned. Do you stop for a moment to think with your brain how economically viable to process palm oil into biofuel? There has been none palm oil derived biofuel available commercially so far. Think.. think.

  • Hmm...Yes. This makes sense.

  • So don't be so impressionable. A few documentaries ain't going to give you the whole truth. The world needs more critical thinkers!

  • Indeed, the world needs more critical thinkers.

By the way, where do you have your facts from?

  • Palm oil competes with food in countries like Indonesia. They don't have so much space for growing food for the own population there anymore. And they export too much palm oil out of Indonesia so that the own country doesn't have much palm oil for the own people and it's very expensive in a country which is in fact rich of these resources.

On top of that, monoculture forces the planters to destroy more of the beautiful rainforest.

    It's really a shame...

  • 2012 is the end, we simply cannot sustain this kinda devastation to earth and continue to feed an out of control population,

  • Please show me the facts!

  • These are facts!

Or what do you want to have proven exactly?

  • Perhaps you should speak out about soy oil and cocoa butter. Those too were consuming nature's land as well, not just Palm Oil.

  • RSPO is a myth. Members of this club are hacking their way through national parks. First they cut the timber, they burn down the rest, and plant oil palm. Later on, they pollute the rivers with fertilizers and pesticides, leaving the rivers devoid of fish, putting fishermen without a job. The palm oil industry is also known of their lies, so never trust them. A commercial of the palm oil industry was banned, because it said things which weren't true.

  • I think it is already to late for the rainforest of Borneo and Sumatra. Very shamefull I think, because before the 70's Borneo existed almost entirely out of primary rainforest, extremely rich in biodiversity, before being ravaged by the timber and palm oil industry. Probably a lot of species have gone extinct, because, before the destruction of Borneo's forests, the forest never really have been explored.

  • Oil palm only absorbs only a very small fraction of the CO2 of that of virgin rainforest. Also, the palm oil industry is intimidating, just as timber companies, local people, sometimes with violence. And the palm oil industry even clears national parks to plant oil palm. Palm oil had lead to a path of destruction in Sumatra and Borneo, and now also in New Guinea.

  • Will our kids ever forgive us for letting this forest be destroyed.

There is no such thing as sustainable Palm Oil.

By importing Palm Oil we the rich nations are just exporting our environmental destruction.

Reducing our consumption of Palm Oil based products is the only way to reduce demand and stop forest destruction. We all have the power. Lets use it.

  • So what alternative oil do you suggest? Soy oil, oh that's so "green"...!

  • Oh no, genetically modified soy oil will be "greener"

  • It's time, that mankind needs to disappear from this planet... It's a shame. Indonesia is in the guiness book of records, no other country is clearing the forest so fast! I saw a video, how farmes clubbed orang utans to death, as they cutting trees. I don't get it! How can people do that?!?

  • This video shows the problem, but not the solution. RSPO is a perfect example of green washing. Sustainable palm oil is very rare. So every kilogram of palmoil exported to Western countries increases the problem. Only an European importban or high import taxes on palm oil, soybeans, agro fuels, timber will solve this problem. In this way a sustainable production in the EU is possible. We need to combine this with a reduction of consumption of these products and of energy. So please boycot RSPO.

  • @GuusGeurts we need the human population to be decimated. less humans = less trouble

  • Many do not yet realise the true value of South East Asia's rainforests. While the Amazon takes the cake for its sheer size and popularity, the forests found in Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei and other South East Asian countries are proven to be some of the oldest in the world. More species of flora and fauna can be found per square feet than even in the Amazon. Not only are we losing forests. We are losing a part of our world's history!!

  • I am absolutely repulsed that the tropical rain forest along with the many endemic species are being targeted to fulfill the selfish needs of our fat obese society.

I would rather have people get coronary heart disease from partially hydrogenated oils than threaten these species and STILL get coronary heart disease. Face it, if you are going to eat junk food, you're going to have heart problems. So stop going after Borneo and Sumatra.

  • This video breaks my heart we all need to take action now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Palm oil should be boycotted.

  • These plantations cause an enormous amount of CO2 being pumped in the atmosphere, because rainforest is chopped down and burned. Also, palm trees take up much less CO2 than rainforest.

  • Someone tell Jack Johnson and all those so called environmentalists putting biofuel in their suvs! Palm oil is death oil!

  • to nholko:

yeah indeed I agree with you, I think even fossil fuels are better than this.

  • Palm oil is biofuel that emits a LOT less carbon! We lose Indonesia but gain the world. It's worth the trade off.

  • Coykiyote, because of deforestation Indonesia is the third largest poluter, after the US and China. All because of deforestation. 20 % of greenhouse gasses come from deforestation, that's more than all the cars, trucks boats planes and trains combined. Palm oil contributes to this. So a car on biofuel could be more polluting than a car on gasoline.

  • I think you're misinformed.

Palm oil does carbon when used as a fuel, but that DOESNT account for the TONS of carbon dioxide that are emitted in the process of cutting down rainforests.

These rainforests acutally absorb carbon dioxide.

Plus, there are hundreds of different sustainable energies in the world that are less damaging than palm oil.

Palm oil is not even close to replacing the oil industry anyway. There are OTHER solutions.

  • Hi Westerners... why you all are just wanting to bullying Asians by all ways and means? The fact is you deforested your land much earlier than Asian. But now when opportunity is coming for Asians you raise issue of deforestation. Selfish Westerners. In fact you are the biggest users of world's natural resources through your industries and life style.

  • China emits more CO2 than any country on earth

Deforestation accounts for 20 % of the world's greenhouse gas emissions

50 % of all species on the planet are found in tropical rainforests (6 % of the Earth's land surface).

1500 bird species recorded (more than Europe + US bird species) but Indonesia lost 40% of the forests existing in 1950 in 50 years.

Costa Rica's ecotourism industry makes it the Switzerland of Central America

monyetMalas: you're biting the hand that will feed you.

  • So what's your point? Pansette, the Western world has not the least part of the problem of global warming? Are you trying to say that, smartass? The amount of beef consumed and the amount of cattle demand is the real cause of global warming I'm afraid. The methane released by cattle from their regurgitation is at least 4 times as likely to cause global warming, read up idiot! Stop blaming others for your own problems.

  • global warming aside, biodiversity is far more important in terms of environmental impact. The world is far too obsessed with CO2 to the point of hysteria when the real crisis is being overlooked - overpopulation.

  • So what's your solution here beastinblack? Shoot the people?

  • no point getting into a debate it wont go anywhere

  • You don't sound like one who's capable of debating.

  • Those loggers should all be shot.

  • every single logger should be FUCKING shot. give me a thumb down and you should be shot too, unless you have a heart. the situation is dire, not just for Borneo but the whole planet.

  • Well I gave you thumb down beastinblack.

  • what about that one up your arse?

  • pretty fucked up

  • I'm downwith palm oil's friend and i agree with everything she said + 2 but it's great how u put this on youtube so lots of people know the affects thank-you

  • I think this is a massive worldwide problem!

Me and my friend have check heaps of supermarkets and have found products from Indonesia and England containing Palm Oil. I would say the products names but I can't... Most products that have palm oil are buscuits, cookies and crisps. Most fatty foods... Why do they have to use Palm Oil? Why not Canola Oil or Sunflower Oil?!

Me and My friend are hopefully help encourage sustainable Palm Oil plantations.

  • Palm Oil isn´t the problem. You can obtain more oil (kg/ha) from Palm than Rapeseed or sunflower plants, and it takes more CO2 per ha than others oil plants.

The problem is to make ecological and economicaly sustainable the palm issue.

  • Because Canola Oil and Sunflower Oil are inferior artery clogging oils!

  • OMG! They are growing a food crop on virgin pristine natural native forests. They will be wanting three meals a day next.

  • Selling palm oil gives them money. so they'll have food. Palms themselves are trees, so its not deforestation.

  • Gain intelligence and try to be less short sighted, life on this planet does not revolve around a few poor villagers.

  • Geez,-- get an education!

Nature doesn't rely on a single food crop.

  • That's a good point urkonos and I get where you're coming from. On the other hand completely destroying forests by 2010 (which is where it's heading) will provide profit for short term only. It's not a means of sustainable economy just short term profit with long term devistation.

  • Europe was once covered in forests which were largely cleared even 200 years ago. The European eco-system was changed but it did not collapse. Farmland is as sustainable as wild forest. Cutting down forests does release carbon into the atmosphere. Planting oil palms sucks it back up, though certainly not all of it. We can find a compromise, we have to find a compromise, greenies are incapable of compromise so we should ignore them.

  • I think you're misinformed.

  • The total destruction of forest, wildlife and chemically produced palm tress is far from sustainable farming. Palm trees are sprayed and cut down at very fast rates giving no benefit whatsoever to carbon reduction. This is destroying not only the land and wildlife it will eventually also have a devistating impact on the people.

  • graphic evidence. thanks for posting.

  • virtually all of us lucky enough to have opportunity to watch this video are supporters of illegal logging. We consume way above average world's energy.
