Thank you Catherine, your words mean alot to me and your videos have taken me to Canada without travelling. :) i am almost healed and i am looking forward to wearing normal clothes again!! Regards from Derek
That is fantastic news Pyro, i am really happy to read it. Hopefully i will be able to join you soon as my last xray is showing great improvement and the doctors are talking about taking my frame off aswell, maybe even as soon as September . If they do i will send you a video about it. take care for now, Derek ;)
That was my favourite operation in my whole life ^^ After few hours I was running with KULE ( I don't know how it is called in english. That two hand sticks to not stomp on the injured leg)
Now I started my rehabilitation and for a month, my doctor will let me walking without KULE
When winter comes I should be able to go on PE lessons ;)
aaarrrrggghhh ! what a predicament ! hang in there friend. I had a friend in a similar situation who I drove to physical therapy three times a week for a couple years, no fun !
Being trapped in the truck for two hours was the worst part. everything since then (even the painful moments) have been an experience i'm glad i went through. best of all..... Meeting all you fine folks on "you-tube". pity the leg frame didn't come in forest green with a holster though!!:) Thanks for your thoughts matey.
really!!! jeez the world is getting smaller so it is!! im from glanmire near the jack lynch tunnel. i know its totally the other side of the city but still like. im hoping to go to london some weekend during may. good place to head out?
been through that tunnel a couple of times. Londons full of places to go out, but i tend to stay in as much as poss since the accident (just till im better)so i would be the worst to give advice on entertainment at the moment.
My small truck v's Very large truck on country road bend. No where to go except slightly under his trailer. Right foot introduced to my right knee on impact. It took 2 and 1/2 hours to free my leg from the cab.
i had one to first when i was 3 years old till 6... then at the age of 17 till 18 (leg and foot) and (belive it or not) my leg is now 15cm taller x) im 19 now and im not done yet still got a lots of work but... well just hang in there its really worth it =]
(cousintom19-- does it hurt?? lollol you have no idea)
I think the hardest part that i have had to come to terms with is not been able to lift or carry things like i did before the accident. I can't even begin to understand how you must have felt over the years. Are you near the end of treatment?? Hope so. Regards Derek.
hi mate hows it going cant believe its been nearly 10 weeks that ive had my frame on,on xmas day my wife and i decorated it with tinsels and bells plus put xmas lights on it and plug it in for 10 mins to take photos of it,ive been walking around the house aswell just with one crutch, still got a couple month to go with it on,any idea when yours will be taken off all the best from robbo
l.o.l. like the deco idea. wish i had thought of that. As for me well i've started using one crutch but get tired and swollen quicker my bones still havn't united still waiting to get an appt. to see my new consultant!! stuck in this new Gov Streamlining referal system twice the paperwork takes 4 times longer I will overcome the glitches and keep you informed. Cheers matey DEL
hi mate had my rings fitted on my broken leg on the 29th oct 07,get my wire sites cleaned every week at hospital, been told will have mine on for about 5 months got use to it on my leg now,its so much better then a plaster, anyway all the best from robbo
We should start a u-tube frame club! lol. Always cover the frame when you shower the rest of the body as i find the shower products cause unnescessary pain. i use a black bin liner. When i clean my leg i use a toothbrush and clean water! BUT NOT NEAR THE PIN SITES! Then i use a hair dryer instead of a towel to reduce the risk of infection
hi you are so brave i also underwent ilizarov implantationbut it....

I appreciate your openess. There are not very many people like yourself in the world today. You just have to take it one day at a time!
I to suffer from an aflicition I caused to myself. Now, I am paying for not taking care of myself in my earlier years.
I would tell you but not in a comment. I don't want the world to know. I have suffered greatly....
Not as much as you but more than anyone should have to endure especially at my age (25)! E-mail me and I'll be happy to share more....
