Why won't anyone play this gottam guitar through a freakin' AMP????? I'm so frustrated, 'cause I've heard so many good things about it, but before I plop down $750 I want to hear someone play FUCKING JAZZ on it. Okay, now I feel better.
Sorry about my outburst, but there's no need to resort to calling me a dumbass...after all there IS a pickup on it. That's usually a clue that it can be plugged into an amp.
@JamaisMEC I did play this guitar through an amp in this video, albeit my amp is pretty crappy so you can't really hear it. I don't suggest dropping $750 on it.
um, I'm not sure. I've never played/heard a dreadnaught, I'm kinda noobish when it comes to guitars.
The strumming is good, you can hear everything equally well. You might want to go to a guitar store near you and try out this guitar yourself, see if you like it or not. Sorry if I'm not too helpful.
so what made you wanna buy this one, for me the only reason would be for the looks, it's make a great indie acoustic, i think i've seen thom yorke play it
Well, looks are one of the main reason. I wanted to get a hollow body (even though I like acoustic guitars), and saw this. I went to guitar center, quickly located, and played it. I instantaneously fell in love. I also asked my friends (ones that actually know about guitars) and they helped me choose.
I would say to not choose a guitar based on looks, but more on the sound quality, playability, and your style.
well first of all it will be very hard for me to get in touch with one short of actually buying one without ever seeing it because well in australia there are no such things as guitar center, and if i found one i wouldn't be able to play it on the spot because i' a leftie, so this is why i need user opinions, one last thing, how loud is the sound, because i heard this was all laminate wood
I just got the black version, and I really love the guitar. What kind of strings are you using? Are they electric or acoustic? I've been sticking to the flat wounds, but I want to make a change.
nice, Just wondering if you are plugged in or not. I to have the older synchro and I think the action is a bit though. Sounds great with thomastik flats.
This guitar is great other then the fact that the 2 f-holes are a little bit softer then one hole in the middle. I think that you should go to a guitar store near you and try it out for yourself, because things differ for different people.
Amazing...keep up the very good work!! simply great song, and beautiful guitar! Just got one of those in black for Christmas, though it doesn't have the cut out...
Well done.

Okay, so I got emotional. Sue me. But call me a dumbass? It's got a pickup on it, which is usually a clue for the clueless.

Plus other gretsch electric guitars have an F-hole so you dont need an amp

@JamaisMEC I think the only way to amplify this is with a mic.

hey, im thinking of getting a gretsch G100 also, sounds amazing. what do you honestly think?
holdmiester 3 years ago
I really like this guitar, but it really depends on what you like. If you're looking for an acoustic, know that this is a little softer than one.
forte0323 3 years ago
do you get the same volume and depth as a dreadnaught? is it really bright and thin when it comes to heavy strumming. is the bass response good?
philphie 3 years ago
um, I'm not sure. I've never played/heard a dreadnaught, I'm kinda noobish when it comes to guitars.

Close, this is my second. My first acoustic is really crappy.

Hmm, I see.
The sound is just a little bit softer than a regular acoustic, which is why I got the Acoustic Electric version.

Good job on the song as well.

I think the strings I was using in the video are these: D'Addario light acoustic guitar EXP 16 (Extended play Phosphor Bronze)) Strings.

i have been thinking of buying this guitar but two of my friends said that its really hard to play chords on or something?
i was just wondering what you think about the guitar cuz its beautiful and sounds great here.nice playing, keep it up!
nubnubs27 4 years ago
I don't have any problems with playing chords.

and thx =]
forte0323 4 years ago
i got a very similar guitar
its a plain old g100 syncromatic
just acoustic and no cut out
but sounds exactally the same
i love the rich soulds of these guitars
that and the thin neck, you can just wrap your hand around it like a babys throaght
underadesk 4 years ago
Ya, this guitar is awesome.
forte0323 4 years ago
Amazing...keep up the very good work!! simply great song, and beautiful guitar! Just got one of those in black for Christmas, though it doesn't have the cut out...
bdleasure 4 years ago
Thx!
I found out that this is the G100CE or something like that, which has the pickups and cut-out. So that's why it's different.
forte0323 4 years ago
Oh that's cool! Pretty handy thing to have =P though electric is cool in all, sometimes you just can't beat the nice sound of acoustics
bdleasure 4 years ago
Of course, that's why i use acoustic-electrics.
=]
forte0323 4 years ago
does it have flatwounds on it?
intrepgun 4 years ago
I don't think so.
forte0323 4 years ago
ok.. would you say that the strings on it are like the strings on your typical acoustic guitar?
intrepgun 4 years ago
Ya, they're acoustic string, D'Addario.
forte0323 4 years ago
ok. just making sure. alot of folks string up archtops like the g100s with flatwounds for a jazzy amplified tone.
intrepgun 4 years ago
Hmmmmm...
