  • It is a very radical.

    The guys are very goods,

Eric Clapton is a very god of the guitar.

    It is ROCK.

  • Amazing moments...

  • Varmaan Jimmy Pagella oli pissahätä ja piti odottaa konsertin loppua. Eikä Ray Cooperilla, gonginlyöjällä ollut kuulosuojaimia. Mutta maailman paras juttu koko pläjäys. Ikimuistettava.

  • I wish they would re-mix this brilliant concert for blu ray...the sound and picture quality is dreadful...

  • I was fortunate enough to attend the San Francisco ARMS concert at the Cow Palace in December '83, and it is still IMO the best concert experience I've had in almost 40 years of Concerts- Thanks so much for posting this gem!

  • @connberkshire Was Page at the SF show?

  • @gnrledzep4eva Yes he was- he played a set with Andy Fairweather-Low, Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts, with Clapton and Beck for a couple Yardbirds tunes, and an instrumental version of Stairway To Heaven. It's hard to believe it's been almost 30 years ago...

I missed out on my only chance to see The Grateful Dead's New Year Show *in* San Francisco that year, but I think it was a pretty good tradeoff...

  • @connberkshire Awww man, that's awesome. I live in the area and used to go to the Cow Palace all the time, and every time I walk in there I can't help but think of all the awesome concerts that happened there. Allman Brothers also had a NYE show there. I was born in the wrong decade! Would've been great to see Page.

  • I was there...Bitchs

  • I was there in Dallas Reunion Arena...

  • great fast solo from clapton, great performance and way better than the studio version...still, jimmy page's solo is the most stunning, it's quite emotional (to me^^)

  • i always think it's funny how people watch that and can just talk about how stoned jimmy page was...why can't they just leave it be? he was getting off heroin then and he gave up drugs entirely back then. and he didn't have to go to rehab a thousand times like the wannabe's of today. he just did it, he's fine now and he's a rock god! what more do you have to say??

  • This song is Claptons both instrumentally the text and the guitarr on this performance. So I don´t understand waht you´re talking about : should a cold turkey heroin junkiebe able to " stand out " . Never heard such idiotic comments before. Although Jimmy Page ´s a great guitarrist, her wasn´t at that time for sure. The show was Erics with the Stones ,end of story.

  • I love the way Jimmy Page just stumbles around on the stage, im not even sure he is playing anything at all. I think he was in the grip of drug addiction here. But still he like Clapton and Beck have changed the way people look at and play the guitar forever :)

  • I went to this show both nights 3 row seats jimmy played every note. this song was just to small for him to just stand around

  • Page was coming off heroin on this concert...he had been holed up in his mansion ...friends went to his mansion and almost physically got him out of there to play this concert..might have saved his life

  • @buckleyboy666 If you watch carefully the techie comes and unplugs him.

  • @buckleyboy666 Page had just kicked drugs, and hadn't performed in front of a live audience in three years at this point. This was his very first concert performance since 7/7/1980 if I am not mistaken.

  • @bluorangefyre You are mistaken.

  • wow thank-GOD ! I was there at ny city fo

  • I've always thought Page played that beautifully. It gives me goosebumps. The stuido version does not.

  • you got that right i seen them 1975 @ the spectrum on broad street. Was the best concert i have ever seen! out of over two hundred & Fifty Or more different act;s !!!

  • i know what you mena. but duanes slide-solo at the end of the song sends shivers down my spine everytime.

  • Best live version of Layla ever!

  • Wonderful, wonderful stuff, I especially like Ray Cooper? when he lowers his hand and they all obey. Top notch music and a fantastic vid, love it

  • That was Andy Fairweather Low, not ray Cooper.

It didnt help, because this version is waaaaay to fast.

Still, it gets better at the end, and Ray Cooper on percussion is a must.

  • I was always told that Mark Knopfler took part in this but I can't see him

  • That Charlie Watts character is just too damn cool for school... probably why he's on the stage!

  • sin duda, clapton es dios. es intenso todo lo que trasmite esta cancion, amor, dolor, desesperacion...

  • creo tenerlos...(i belive have all) Clapton (guitar 1)(min2:19) Jimmy Page (guitar 2) Jeff Beck (guitar 3)(min 2:55)(white shirt) Jakson Browne (keyboard 1)(min 3:32) Bill Wyman (guitar 4)(side, jeff beck)??? Steve Winwood (Keyboard 2)(min 1:23) charlie watts (Drums 1)(min 0:53) Jim Gordon (Drums 2) who is the sr. or the red and blue jacket??? who is the sr. precusion, Gon, congas Who is he????
  • The guy in the red and blue jacket is Andy Fairweather-Low who is still part of Clapton's band

  • Looks like page needs to use the lavatory >_>

  • At 5:31, Clapton notices the great Ray Cooper going apeshit on that gong

  • Talk about a stage full of guitar heroes ...

  • the tamburine man adds the REAL MAGIC to the song LOL he is POUNDING PERCUSSION

  • What band is he from?

  • Does anyone know who the guy playing the guitar in the blue/red jacket next to clapton is? (I don't mean page in background)

  • I think that's Andy Fairweather-Low.

  • Yus That's Andy and he's playing beautifully as always :)

  • If you freeze the frame at 5:46 exactly, you'll see a guy that looks like the British Pop Star Cliff Richard digging the show...

    Not that it matters...

    just sayin' is all...

may be it's just a guy with glasses and a slick haircut...but it's entirely possible that Cliff woulda been at this show...

  • Bash that gong!

  • he dont want to see a drunk ass hasbeen lol

  • Wow. A lot of talent on that stage.

  • is it me or does it seem to so people that page and clapton are not s good friends as clapton and beck? clapton and beck do alot of profromences together and page and clapton don't and when all three are preforming clapton looks as if he is ignoring page. I am Just saying.

  • For A Guy who hadn't performed in 3 years.Page gave them all a free Guitar lesson.Supposedly shitfaced too.If he blew them away that drunk, imagine how much better he is then them Sober, pretty scary, huh?

  • What a show!As for Page being on or off drugs, who cares? He shines when he plays.Besides, this was his first apearance after Bonzo died,so he was probably a nervous wreck. The guy smashing the gong is the star of the show! And even Watts and Wyman are smiling!

  • that dude with the tamborine took one too many snorts.

  • I love jimmy page he always stands out!!!

  • awesome version specially the solo but theres one thing missing n i bet you will all agree...

    MORE COWBELL!

  • LOL at 1:05 some tech guy just comes in out of nowhere and unplugs a chord

  • Let's not forget Andy Fairweather Low on guitar and vocals. I went to see him recently on his "Sweet Soulful Music" tour and he was great.

  • I like how the beat was close to Becks Bolero near the beginning.

  • Page did pretty well here actually.

He and Beck did most of the leads.

  • Did I see Paul Shaffer up there? and who is the fourth guitarist,Mark Knopfler?

  • eric jimmy and jeff should go on tour. kinda like g3

  • Jimmy an Jeff are standing back becuase it is Claptons song. You guys look into things waaay to much. Listen close and you can here all 3 playing they all have unique sounds.

  • Jimmys sound is beatiful on this!

  • Was Jimmy playing lead? I know Clapton wasn't.

  • All these greats...only one god ..JB

  • 2:50

  • Maybe you cant really hear jimmy here, but it sounds like hes playing well at the end

  • great video. love jeff beck.and the tambourine guy rocks! :))

  • Ray Cooper played with Elton John for a very long time and is a well respected percussionist. Relax and listen to the music and don't get caught up in people's appearances.

  • Jimmy Page came out and played a instrumental Stairway to Heaven and then he played with Paul Rodgers which became the short lived "The Firm" (remember Radioactive?)

  • Jimmy was not nervous... He was fucking WACKED out of his mind!!!

  • True. He was still caught up in his heroin addiction.

  • jimmy is his own person own stage

if he wants to stand at the back he can

    ffs

he wasn't fucked on drugs at all

  • Jimmy stood at the back because this concert was his first live performance in 3 years after John Bonham's death. He was nervous, and had just come off heroin. Top performance though =D

  • Thanks a lot ^^

  • Anyone knows the name of the tambourine guy?

  • That's Ray Cooper - he was also on "Concert for George". I had seats behind the stage at the Royal Albert Hall for this show - for the equivalent of $16.

  • you do realize WHY page is fucked up... because he was OFF the drugs for a long time

  • what do you mean what is wrong with him? there IS a reason he is there & it is not random. his name is ray cooper & he is so worthy to be playing with the best because he is the best percussionist in rock !!! read the notes on the cds or albums you have & look for his name! he adds the magic to the music

  • wow!this is great!thanks

  • Page is wasted on heroin, they could have pushed him off the stage

  • they could have, but why would they?

  • INDEED! Why would they do that to Jimmy?!

  • What does the guy with the mustache say as the piano coda begins? It sounds like 'Jesus'.

  • page's solo is wanderfull.he is the best.

  • lolol, the percussion guy is amazing

the three greatest guitarists in the world, on one stage

    <3

  • It looks like they're kinda shoving jimmy off to the side, doesn't it?

  • 1:10. What the hell is wrong with the tambourine guy?

  • Dig the part where he wrecks the gong!

  • great show,once in a lifetime.

  • I just love this video. Watching Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page all take solos is amazing.
