Varmaan Jimmy Pagella oli pissahätä ja piti odottaa konsertin loppua. Eikä Ray Cooperilla, gonginlyöjällä ollut kuulosuojaimia. Mutta maailman paras juttu koko pläjäys. Ikimuistettava.
I was fortunate enough to attend the San Francisco ARMS concert at the Cow Palace in December '83, and it is still IMO the best concert experience I've had in almost 40 years of Concerts- Thanks so much for posting this gem!
@gnrledzep4eva Yes he was- he played a set with Andy Fairweather-Low, Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts, with Clapton and Beck for a couple Yardbirds tunes, and an instrumental version of Stairway To Heaven. It's hard to believe it's been almost 30 years ago...
I missed out on my only chance to see The Grateful Dead's New Year Show *in* San Francisco that year, but I think it was a pretty good tradeoff...
@connberkshire Awww man, that's awesome. I live in the area and used to go to the Cow Palace all the time, and every time I walk in there I can't help but think of all the awesome concerts that happened there. Allman Brothers also had a NYE show there. I was born in the wrong decade! Would've been great to see Page.
great fast solo from clapton, great performance and way better than the studio version...still, jimmy page's solo is the most stunning, it's quite emotional (to me^^)
i always think it's funny how people watch that and can just talk about how stoned jimmy page was...why can't they just leave it be? he was getting off heroin then and he gave up drugs entirely back then. and he didn't have to go to rehab a thousand times like the wannabe's of today. he just did it, he's fine now and he's a rock god! what more do you have to say??
This song is Claptons both instrumentally the text and the guitarr on this performance. So I don´t understand waht you´re talking about : should a cold turkey heroin junkiebe able to " stand out " . Never heard such idiotic comments before. Although Jimmy Page ´s a great guitarrist, her wasn´t at that time for sure. The show was Erics with the Stones ,end of story.
I love the way Jimmy Page just stumbles around on the stage, im not even sure he is playing anything at all. I think he was in the grip of drug addiction here. But still he like Clapton and Beck have changed the way people look at and play the guitar forever :)
Page was coming off heroin on this concert...he had been holed up in his mansion ...friends went to his mansion and almost physically got him out of there to play this concert..might have saved his life
@buckleyboy666 Page had just kicked drugs, and hadn't performed in front of a live audience in three years at this point. This was his very first concert performance since 7/7/1980 if I am not mistaken.
you got that right i seen them 1975 @ the spectrum on broad street. Was the best concert i have ever seen! out of over two hundred & Fifty Or more different act;s !!!
creo tenerlos...(i belive have all) Clapton (guitar 1)(min2:19) Jimmy Page (guitar 2) Jeff Beck (guitar 3)(min 2:55)(white shirt) Jakson Browne (keyboard 1)(min 3:32) Bill Wyman (guitar 4)(side, jeff beck)??? Steve Winwood (Keyboard 2)(min 1:23) charlie watts (Drums 1)(min 0:53) Jim Gordon (Drums 2) who is the sr. or the red and blue jacket??? who is the sr. precusion, Gon, congas Who is he????
is it me or does it seem to so people that page and clapton are not s good friends as clapton and beck? clapton and beck do alot of profromences together and page and clapton don't and when all three are preforming clapton looks as if he is ignoring page. I am Just saying.
For A Guy who hadn't performed in 3 years.Page gave them all a free Guitar lesson.Supposedly shitfaced too.If he blew them away that drunk, imagine how much better he is then them Sober, pretty scary, huh?
What a show!As for Page being on or off drugs, who cares? He shines when he plays.Besides, this was his first apearance after Bonzo died,so he was probably a nervous wreck. The guy smashing the gong is the star of the show! And even Watts and Wyman are smiling!
Jimmy an Jeff are standing back becuase it is Claptons song. You guys look into things waaay to much. Listen close and you can here all 3 playing they all have unique sounds.
Ray Cooper played with Elton John for a very long time and is a well respected percussionist. Relax and listen to the music and don't get caught up in people's appearances.
Jimmy Page came out and played a instrumental Stairway to Heaven and then he played with Paul Rodgers which became the short lived "The Firm" (remember Radioactive?)
Jimmy stood at the back because this concert was his first live performance in 3 years after John Bonham's death. He was nervous, and had just come off heroin. Top performance though =D
That's Ray Cooper - he was also on "Concert for George". I had seats behind the stage at the Royal Albert Hall for this show - for the equivalent of $16.
what do you mean what is wrong with him? there IS a reason he is there & it is not random. his name is ray cooper & he is so worthy to be playing with the best because he is the best percussionist in rock !!! read the notes on the cds or albums you have & look for his name! he adds the magic to the music
It is a very radical.
The guys are very goods,
Eric Clapton is a very god of the guitar.
It is ROCK.

Wonderful, wonderful stuff, I especially like Ray Cooper? when he lowers his hand and they all obey. Top notch music and a fantastic vid, love it
madjacles 2 years ago
That was Andy Fairweather Low, not ray Cooper.
It didnt help, because this version is waaaaay to fast.
Still, it gets better at the end, and Ray Cooper on percussion is a must.
