Our new Granddaughter is Josephine - I put this up on our face-book to introduce her. Grew up listening to Fats Domino. He is the real deal. Our Father played guitar and sang...music a big part of my life. Fats Domino - to be able to go on the Internet and hear ANY songs we want is priceless. Thank you YOU TUBE and the wonderful persons sharing their music. Keep the good music coming.
@stevethedrums: My husband has been a professional musician for over 35 years and I asked him. I don't want to argue or go back and forth over this, but he says he's never heard saxophones called "brass section." Trumpets, sax, etc., have collectively been called the winds, but never brass. You can argue this point, but since my hubby's played Radio City Music Hall, among other places, I'm more inclined to go with his expertise. :)
@inktomni Hi, in bands (and yes I am in a band) the trumpets, (trom)bones and sax(aphones) are collectively known as "The Brass (section)", although they are technically woodwind instruments because they use a reed to produce the sound but are rarely if ever made of wood. Funny old world ain't it !!!!
He's such a jolly soul...it's after midnight here & just wanted to experience Fats music...oh my god I wish the horn men woud stay on longer...what a brass section !
Like Elvis said. Fats Domino was the King. Just love the music. The early rock and rollers loved each other and hoped like heck that it all continued.
@fiftysal2 Too bad it had to end. I try to tell these young guys that "rock" is NOT rock n roll. Original rock n roll was a simple, innocent, yet complete and had a distinct sound all of its own. Nothing like rock which came afterward beginning with the 70's bands. Oh, well, I have my memories . . .
An icon; an incredible musician. I had the pleasure of chatting with Fats at Al Hirt's Club in New Orleans, back in the early summer of 1967. A true gentleman with a sly, shy sense of humour. ¡Salud, Fats!
1 of the greatest of all time!!! I was 4 years old when i 1st heard him & i can remember it just like it was yesterday & that was 40 years ago. A true legend!!!
I just discovered this on iTunes on shuffle, and have been listening to it nonstop for the past few days. I swear this music will never get old!! funny lyrics and perfect tunes.... i love this guy...
Fats is one of the 2 or 3 best entertainers that I have ever seen in my life. Sorry I've never gotten to see him live. We had tickets to see him once, but he cancelled his appearance, and was replaced by Junior Walker. Not quite the same.
iloveyouemily- I saw Fats Domino a few years back- He sounds exactly the same on his records and his band was fantastic. He was on a bill with Jerry Lee Lewis, and I have to say that Fats put on a better show that night.
My father wrote this song! It was a poem for his girlfriend, Josephine when he was 16! He sent the song into a competition and was accepted. He couldnt afford the copyright costs so sold his rights to the song and Fats Domino bought the rights from my dad for $600! My dad was issued a gold record, but didn't receive any royalties or credit!
