  • Nip/TUCK played during one of the surgeries...thanks for posting.

  • i always love that melody ,, AMAZING !!

  • Cziffra is the best :-)

  • motorolla c113a ringing tones

  • Horowitz the best Version...

  • @Unbeloved27

    I think it's G.Cziffra's.

  • wtf is the 3rd verssion..... that guy ruin the song

  • Maestro

  • wooooooooooooooooooah. IT'S SO WONDERFUUL. WHEN I HEAR IT I'M IN AN OTHER WORLD. maybe in paradice. SO gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood.

  • Perfect warming for the fingers! :)

Cziffra's version = maximum finger gymnastics -more techique, less art, it's almost off-topic from the bumble bee theme.

Rachmaninoff's = less-is-more version makes us fantasize a real bumble bee (not a whole division of Messerschmitt fighters) -it definitely sounds inspired!

  • @qp12qp If you know how to play Bach's music properly, you can tackle this fairly easily. Fingering is everything, once you solve the fingering problem it's just getting the proper notes up to speed.

  • funny how jazzy it sounds

  • @TheLagunaSunrise

nah, its the other way around, jazzy sounds classical :d

  • @chukas88 well yeah, obviously, as classical came first, I'm just making the point that this piece sounds jazzy, semantics aside.

  • 60th like

  • the S-shape in his lips show his greater capacity to experience emotions (bipolar) according to faceading

  • This is the best Flight Of The Bumble Bee I have heard so far.

  • at 00:22 i think there is a mistake. the left hand should be crossed over the RH to play the 9 chromatic notes at a higher octave.

could it be another rachmaninoff version that i'm not aware of?

  • i love you cziffra !

  • Over the years, obviously great virtuosi have lent their personal flair to this popular piece - each bringing someting new and amazing to Rimsky-Korsakov's version. Volodos's arrangement is mostly borrowed from Cziffra. I think Volodos' performance is much more controlled than Cziffra's and leaves me wondering how Volodos' performance could ever be surpassed (though it could be, conceivably). Horowitz's performance, great in its lightness and agility, is adapted from Rachmaninoff's arrangement.

  • I agree with you but only in some parts. My personal opinion is that both Cziffra and Volodos are great at playing this piece..but I disagree on your statement that Volodos controls this piece 'much more than Cziffra's'.. I would say the other way around, but thats just my humble opinion..

Both are great virtuoso's that cannot be surpassed and they themselves cannot surpass each other.

  • I love Rachmaninoff's performance!!!

  • Dont blame Cziffra because hi played a bit... banging the piano, he had a very painful life. His Liszt music is the best! I agree that this recording is much more better than his.

  • that's simply wonderful!!!! thankyou very much, I couldn't hope better!

  • Cziffra's performance sounds like a short Hitchcock movie!

  • haha i love how horowitz even simplifies the (not extremely hard) rachmaninov-version! that's typically him. Wonderfully played.

  • I don't like Cziffra.

  • Perhaps if he had renamed it to Flight of the Wasps?

  • Haha, yeah perhaps.

I don't understand youtube sometimes. Why does everyone feel the need to thumb down a harmless opinion?

  • Yes, wasps are good!

horowitz, rachmaninov - wasps, Cziffra, Volodos - bumblebees (bumblebee is bigger, makes bigger noise)...Do you understand me?

I don't know, how Cziffra practiced songs, he looked at score and played in full speed? He is (unfortunately was) pure virtuoso...

  • Volodos's is an adaptation of Cziffra's transcription and performed without the repeat. Its also simplified in the middle section. Rachmaninoff and Horowitz's bees buzz rather politely but Cziffra's interlocking double octaves and dazzling passage work are like a swarm of killer bees! His stunning'live' version (no longer on YouTube) was given as an encore at his Paris debut.

  • rachmaninoff's version i liked the best. cziffra was amazing, like the flight of a ZILLION bumble bees and volodos was certainly the hardest technicly but also the one that didn't have anything in common with the original(not that this is bad), but it was horowitz that gave me the feeling of the bumble bee to it's extreme. BRAVO to all four!

  • cool vid, thanks very much for posting. enjoyed this very much.

  • nice nice. just a bit disappointed with cziffra's playing though, in my opinion he played it much better live in that video marcelmombeek had.

  • How can ANYONE be disappointed with Cziffra's playing of Le Vol Du Bourdon!? Listen to it over and over until you learn to appreciate it. Then listen to it until you can understand the control he has still bringing out a musically expressed melodic line (which is chromatic in this case) and then understand that it is 10 times more difficult than any of the other arrangements apart from Volodos but in his case there were some simplifications. Then learn how to play it on the piano. Then comment.

  • i'm sorry, he doesn't seem to have that control in this case. i've heard him play MUCH better, this particular rendition in my opinion was just aweful, i'm not saying that cziffra always plays it badly - he is the king of the bee, just in this recording it was terrible.

  • Cziffra's melody lines are impossible to reproduce. They're incredible.

  • @yellingLoL i agree with u His interpretation is yhe most impressive to me even if the others are more than excellent.

  • @yellingLoL

ahhh i accidentally voted down and now i dont know how to get rid of it -_-

but i really didn't mean to..... sorry!

  • WOOOOW i love this piece!!!!

    Particularily the part by cziffra...

    I LOVE IT
