The payroll will be going down over time as alot of the homegrown veterans and other veterans contracts come off the books, and new contracts for Jeter and Mariano are set. The homegrown talent in the farm will replace people in the next couple of years.

So the Yankee haters will have to stop talking about payroll and start blaming the owners of their teams for not investing in their teams when they are getting welfare from MLB and large market teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, Angels.
