Isn't it funny the captions you could make for these scenes! XD
It's possible that she wasn't done either, but in cases where one of the moths is disturbed or annpyed by something, they can sometimes take flight (or at least try to) with their partner still attached to fly off to somewhere safe! I see this in the wild a lot with butterflies especially. Thanks for stopping by! :-)
hahahahha! so funny! nice vid thx .. but i dun see how the name relates to its owner... i mean wheres the White* =S i tot the bottom was the female too hahah
That poor male on the bottom is holding on for dear life! XD
The white streaks are the bands of white scales in the center of the wings, connecting the eyespots and top/bottom margins. Both males and females have them to some degree. It's a lot easier to see if they aren't flapping around! =)
One nice thing this moth had going for her is that she got to complete her entire life cycle without being eaten by something! Fewer than 1 in 100 make it all the way to the end :-)
Definitely embarrassing! On the plus side - at least she got to complete her life cycle and didn't get eaten by bats, spiders, or parasitic wasps. Yikes!!
every time one of these little shit fly in my room i kill it

I can imagine the male saying "Wait! I'm not done yet!"

the female is the bottom one right?

The female is the large one on top. The smaller one below is the male, trying to hang on while the female tries to break up their affair! :)

She is one hot mother of a moth! Although I think she may well have worn out daddy moth.
