Just this minute seen your comment Ictabicta. Thank you very much for detailing that information. I will now set out to see if I can obtain this book and CD. Best wishes to you, from Jarrahnut (Big Hugh from Mundlimup).
Jarrahnut, Erik's autobiography ("I'd Give My Life!: A Journey Through Folk Music" is available on Amazon.com and from the publisher (SBBKS.COM). It has lots of photos and comes with a CD that has all Erik's favorite songs on it, including TWO VERSIONS of "Woody;" one is his original version. He would have enjoyed this version. Lovely indeed. Where did that bridge come from??
This is a lovely rendition. Erik Darling did two versions of this song. Erik sent me a signed copy of his second version. He told me it was his favourite song. Erik died about two years ago. I'm trying to obtain his autobiography ... which he completed not long before his death. He was a lovely man. I have searched for about forty-o dd years for his original version ... but to no avail ... but I haven't given up ...
Greetings to one and all from Big Hugh in Mundlimup, Western Australia.
I had a folk song recording featuring various artists in the 60s and Erik Darling sang 'Woody Knows Nothing on It". I thought it was wonderful and have always remembered it. Hoped to be able to find it on YouTube but no luck yet. Perhaps one day someone will upload it.
