  • Dear VEVO,

The public doesnt like their favourite songs being censored. Though we do understand you censoring it for the sake of little kids who are probably going to grow up like little angels because they didnt hear fuck or shit in a song, so why dont you make two channels for each artist: a clean one and an uncensored one. Then you have your control over the songs so we hear the whole song the way it's meant to be heard.

Thumbs up so this stands out, paste in every VEVO video

  • i read the meaning of this song. the part where he writes "i'm just sitting in my car waiting for my girl" is retarded what's the point.

  • i wonder what happened to the poor man that climbed the thank afterwards :0(

  • YES THIS SONG ISN'T SPECIFICALLY ABOUT TIENANMEN SQUARE BUT THE VIDEO IS SPECIFICALLY ABOUT TIENANMEN SQUARE.AND IT'S COOL HOW THEY CAN EDIT IT TO MAKE IT SEEM LIKE IT'S ALL ABOUT TIENANMEN SQUARE BECAUSE THEY FOUND A SONG JUST RIGHT FOR IT.

  • that dude climbed a tank

  • I think the song is ambiguous. The hypnotizing theme in the verses talks of the Chinese government covering up the incident at the square, and the other meaning, which is sang in the chorus, is like what Daron said, its just him waiting in his car for his girl :)

  • The 1st like 30 seconds of the intro with that man Standing in front of the line of tanks... Its just Epic, like a movie, that man is my (non-american) hero.

  • @TheBizking and the fact that he kept blocking the tank and then climbing on top of it.

  • ohhhh my god that guy is brave

  • everyone one of us should have courage like that kid....if he can do it so can we.

  • dude i just go inspired by the kid standing in fron of the tank man does his got some balls i bet people who saw that where crying of inspiration dammm stron scene

  • MY MODERN WORLD HISTORY TEACHER SHOWED US THIS VIDEO!!!!!!!

    FRESNO,CA FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i just think that the song is not as deep as some people think. I have seen almost everyone of there songs were people have said that there talking about america in some way.

  • @aaroncarpenter53

i agree, this song just sounds good but it still has a great meaning, you have to think outside of the box like soad to understand it,

  • I think that the entire songs main point is Tienanmen Square because im just sitting in my car waiting for my girl is talking about his girl that is taking part in the protest. Then everything else in the song just explains how the chinese government covered it up.

  • You're either agnostic or mentally crippled.

  • the mysterious student is one with the Glory!

  • most chinks guy youtube is chinese secret police. they writting communist dictator`s propaganda over and over again. its their job, and also they hired so many to making propaganda too. you can search it in google (50 cent army), it so funny hahahaha

How China's '50 Cent Army' Could Wreck (Search Google =====> 50 Cent Army)

The CCP has hired thousands of freelance Internet propagandists whose job is to infiltrate chat rooms, message boards and comment areas-----(50 Cent Army)

  • @77777XYZ after you use 'chinks,' no one takes what you have to say seriously.

  • @77777XYZ "most chinks guy youtube is chinese secret police."? What the hell does that mean? I'm typing drunk at the moment and I think I'm doing a better job at using the English language than you would on a good day. Jeez....

  • the lyrics is so sharp, a song with a cause, a living memorial. the protester they died, 22years since, no one ever will give a damn of Tiananmen Square vctims. at least with this beautiful song, we'll remember those who have died, will not died in vain. the ideology will not ever died. the ideology is eternal. Peace and love, viva la revolucion!

  • agree or disagree, I don't think this song has anything to do with the events at Tiananmen square.

  • @raggamuffins13 I think they just use it as an example of what happens when you trust your overlords too much.

  • @raggamuffins13 it referenced it because it relates to what they are singing about.I'm more than sure the video maker knows it's not specifically about Tienanmen square, but since the song references it why not use it for the video if you are going to make a video about Tienanmen square right.and yes I know 5 months later.

  • Tank Man is pretty much the coolest guy to have existed. He's so brave and he's like a real super hero with grocery bags of justice :)

  • inspirational.....

  • @TomMark182 ...but if you tell people not to push their beliefs on others, then you're just pushing YOUR belief that we should all stay out of each other's faces. so really you can't win, lol

  • Ohh fuck! 100,000th viewer!

  • 3:21 The Illuminati, this is real.

  • the courage of that man standin in front of that tank.....we will never comprehend

  • @LilRonBrew

Desperate acts calls for desperate measures

He never had a choice he did what he had to do

  • I loved this! 100 Thumbs Up!!!

  • dang like the tanks wasnt enough to stop him but i didnt saw the whole army behind those 3 tanks and he had to be carriede out by random people.

  • SOAD used to be the shit, also, 219 people are okay with Daron Malakians whiney voice.

  • @theoryspecialist what do you meen SOAD used to be shit? they also used to be a band. now they are a memory. one of the greatest that rockers have. system of a down isnt shit, they are the shit and always have been. Daron's voice makes the band, so did Serj's. they both make the band politacly incorrect which is what the band is all about: politics

  • @SandboxDemocracy THE shit, not shit. THE shit is slang for awesome. Thanks for showing your lack of literacy.

  • love this song

    so touching

  • It is necessary to ruin Chinese Communist Party as soon as possible. A Chinese government must make the people free.

  • that dude is a total bad ass

  • 历史淹没不掉的~~

  • @clickoverhear Spare me the history lesson, I know what happened at Tienanmen Square, and considering the vagueness of your comment I gather that you don't...

  • 天安门!

  • This song is not directly about Tian Amen Square. It's just making a comparison between the kids in that area to western society and their hugely materialistic ways. "was fashion the reason why they were there"

  • @akatsukiyondaime2 Actually it is directly about tiananmen sqaure. Listen it says "why don't you ask the kids at tiananmen square, was fashion the reason why they were there?". Fashion meaning pop-culture, etc. The Chinese government claimed that the people in the protest were young angry criminals who were just going along with what was 'popular or fashionable" This is clearly demonstrated in the The Great FireWall of China where it fuels the narrative that pop culture subverts the state. BS!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @MrCMar18 and @TheSaboteurx the reference to China is not insignificant, but it is a historical reference to show the flaws in our own current society, our susceptibility to propaganda, the mind numbing effects of TV and other pop culture, and general apathy. It is about Tiananmen to a degree but it encompasses a much larger societal issue.

  • @ClaireT821 THANK YOU! Finally someone using their brain!

  • the guy who stood in front of the tank after was taken away and shot

  • 惨

  • I couldn't see anything, that guy's balls were too big!

  • Stop politicing and listen to the song. Politics on YouTube = useless garbage arguments

  • Wow @midleground your a big fat filthy d-bag I hope u know that and now that u said for another person to die I hope u rot in hell bitch ass blinded fuck!

  • @midleground ok fuck face i said what if and also your a fucking fag and your saying dont spread your opinions when you do yourself and by the way if there is a heaven you wont be going you little bitch and shayn68 is a total badass because he's right to say dont spout your beliefs because then you get a lot of shit talked to you and you end up making a name in a lot of books and in mine your a self-ritious douchebag who will most likely die alone and a virgin so go fuck your self

  • @midleground

ok fucker for one your a fuckin fag and if i saw you in real life id kick the fucking shit out of youbecause how do you know if my dad was in the millitary and if so what if he was killed so i am gunna find you and beat seven shades of shit out of you you little punk bitch cumdrinking dicksucking faggot

  • @MrCMar18 Explain and give arguments then. Ofcourse it has to do with Tiananmen Square..

  • @Daaanvh The first line is "why don't you ask the kids at Tiananmen Square, was fashion the reason why they were there." The song itself talks about the hypnotizing effect television and the media has on society, hence the line, "television made you buy it." SOAD just uses the kids at Tiananmen Square as an example of people who ignore the influences of TV and fight for what they believe. The song is not dedicated to, or about, Tiananmen Square.

  • that dude is fuckin ignorent...your an american furr shurr

  • @Daaanvh I find it hilarious how he says its got nothing to do with Tienanmen Square.

"Why don't you ask the kids at Tienanmen Square, was fashion the reason the reason why they were there?"

  • @EmoMFr it's fascism not fashion..

  • @zulok1337

The lyrics I found say fashion.

If you want, I'll PM the link, because I can't put it as a reply

  • @EmoMFr it is fashion

  • @ZMan1209

Yep. What lyrics did you use? I use Sing365

  • @MrCMar18

So they just happen to use the title of a massacre in 1989 for one of the lyrics? Right. That makes perfect sense.

  • @Brolytheultimate8 Like i ALREADY said, system uses the "kids at tiananmen sqaure" as an example of those who haven't been hypnotized by the effects television, media, etc. The song is not about them. If it was about TS, the whole song would be describing it, but it does not. System would be disappointed to see that shallow minded people are coming to conclusions based on one line of their music.

  • @MrCMar18 Listen to the words ya dick

  • @ATMOSFEAR56 ok you know what I'm trying express the true meaning of the song but if you shallow minded people wanna just think it's about tiananmen square because they refer to it in the first line, go ahead. Actually take the time to read the lyrics and use your brain for once, I'm done talking here.

  • @MrCMar18 are you kidding? listen to the first sentence of the song.

  • @TheSaboteurx is this a joke? honestly. this is probably the fifth dumbass who has said something as stupid as this. this is the last time im going to say it. THE KIDS AT TIANANMEN SQUARE ARE USED AS AN EXAMPLE OF PEOPLE WHO ARE ACTUALLY PROTESTING OR FIGHTING FOR SOMETHING THAT HAS MEANING. HENSE THE NEXT VERSE: WAS FASHION THE REASON WHY THEY WERE THERE? i can't believe how stupid and ignorant some people can be. use your fucking heads for once.

  • @MrCMar18 OK so the college kids in china fighting an oppressive government is used as an example for kids fighting an oppressive government... idiot... their cause has meaning. The second verse is from the Chinese government covering up their being there, because idiots like you don't understand.

  • @TheSaboteurx The song is not about TS. The verse, "they disguise it, hypnotize it, television made you buy it" clearly points to the song being about the hypnotizing effect of the media, maybe a propagandist or dictator, etc. Sure, TS is referred to in the song, and rightfully so considering its relation to the song's actual meaning. For the last time, the kids at TS are used as an example of those NOT hypnotized by the media or propaganda, but the song is not about them, but rather the latter.

  • @MrCMar18 THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT CONTROLLED MEDIA! they disguised it, hypnotized it.

  • @TheSaboteurx "television made you buy it" yes because a communist regime was really trying to promote capitalist behaviour.

  • @MrCMar18 we're not talking about 1960 here, they could have easily been talking about USA media too, i wont argue that, but to say this song has nothing to do with the students at TS, that's just stupid.

  • @TheSaboteurx oh granted the students at TS are applicable, but the song isn't specifically about them, they are just used in the song for effect. I found a video a while back where system talks about the actual meaning of the song but i can't seem to find it. They don't deny the TS implications, but they say the song is more directly about modern media effects.

  • @MrCMar18 [cough] DUMBASS! [cough]

  • @MrCMar18 "Why don't you ask the kids at Tiananmen Square?" quoting, as Serj says. Listen to the lyrics before you "point things out".

  • @oneofanceantproficy Why don't you use your brain for a fucking second before ignorantly replying with something that is clearly thoughtless and shallow minded. If you actually used your brain you would see the blatant and obvious meaning behind the song instead of jumping to idiotic conclusions. Get a degree for god sake.

  • @MrCMar18: It says Tiananmen square in the song...

  • @Hikeloon AAHAHAHA that's probably the most idiotic one I've gotten this entire time. You know in the song B.Y.O.B. also by system, they say the word 'disappearing' at one point, so by your thinking the song is about a magic show disappearing act I presume? This goes for anyone else who has something just as stupid as Hikeloon to say, don't bother. Use your brains, read what I've been trying to say from the start, and don't just say stupid stuff just for the sake of saying it.

  • @MrCMar18 yes it does. if you were to pay close atention to the lyrics, it talks about tiananmen square protests in 1989 and the harm and effects of propaganda on a targeted audience.the only thing that doesnt have anything to do with any of that, is the chorus "im just sitting in my car and waiting for my girl" serj started writing the song while he was in a car waiting for his gf at the time, and even after she got in the car he stayed wrting more of the song. learn your facts dude. Serj Rocks

  • @KEN117MC It mentions Tiananmen Square once, and once again, I'll explain that it is used as an example of an audience rejecting propaganda sort of like what you mentioned. I think we agree somewhat, but I'm saying the song itself is not specifically about Tiananmen Square.

  • @MrCMar18 dumbass

  • @MrCMar18 the song speaks of how the Chinese government covered it up using media. and Tienanmen Square is an example of how government manipulates us through media to always obey the norm we are given.

  • @corvusoscuro Sure, it was an example of government manipulation, but that's not even what the song refers to. The only lyric in the entire song that refers to Tiananmen Square is, "Why don't you ask the kids at Tiananmen Square, was fashion the reason why they were there." This is a comment for the American people, a people who are manipulated by media and consumerism every day; soad uses 'Tiananmen Square as an example of people fighting back against the control of the media and government.

  • @MrCMar18 It's first sentence is "Why don't you ask the kids at Tiananmen Square"

  • @qertasdfgzxcvb Ok if you're not willing to read all my other posts proving why you are wrong, and if you're just going to come up with shallow arguments like the one you just posted, then quit now while you're ahead, because I'm not gonna keep coming back to this video explaining to idiots who don't want to use their brain why this song is not specifically about Tiananmen Square.

  • @MrCMar18

we all know its not about JUST that place BUT, in a way, it is about it

  • @mgmga1 I'm not arguing with that, it definitely is applicable. However, the song's intention to is be much broader than just speaking about Tiananmen Square.

  • @MrCMar18

and i agree about that, i think it is about all the places with the same flaws....in other words....the rest of the earth

  • @MrCMar18 it said why dont you ask the kids at TIANANMEN SQUARE DUMBASS

  • @Skullboarder113 Yeah, and if you read my other posts, I was arguing that the song isn't specifically about Tiananmen Square. I never said that Tiananmen Square wasn't referenced, it is. However, it is used as an example to further the notion expressed within the song that we are a controlled race, and the kids at Tiananmen Square are those fighting back against control. And btw, don't say things like dumbass, it makes you look even more stupid than you already are.

  • @MrCMar18

Dude, super cool comment. I am so glad someone else understands this.

  • @TAPOize FINALLY! Thanks man. I was starting to believe that everyone commenting on this video was a shallow-minded asshole. It really isn't that hard to see that this isn't a song about Tiananmen Square specifically. People just need to use their heads. Good to know there are people who understand the song though.

  • @MrCMar18 you're joking right?

  • @DX231 I'm tired of arguing with people like you man. Use your brain or just stop giving me stupid replies.

  • @MrCMar18 the song is about how governments manipulate people, essentially hypnotizing them into believing what they say. this keeps people from standing up to their governments. which is what happened at tiananmen square.... correct me if im wrong?

  • @DX231 Yeah and if you read all my previous comments I'm not doubting Tiananmen Square is applicable, because it's an example of the negative effects governments can have on their people. However, I am arguing that the song is attempting to be a comment, in a more broad sense, on the hypnotizing effects of governments. Also, the song never directly refers to the Chinese government in reference to Tiananmen Square, only the motives of the students, and how they were there for important reasons.

  • @MrCMar18 see notes

  • The balls that this man had have passed on into legend.Ask yourselves people, would you have the guts to stand infront of a freaking tank for your beliefs?

  • that religion guy is a fag

  • Please do not spout your religious beliefs on the internet. No one has asked for your opinion, and until you are asked be humble and practice your faith, or lack of faith, in private. When people try to push their thoughts on others do not refute them or argue with them, stop them, unless of course, like I said, the person had asked for their thoughts. Though you can't really stop someone on the internet very effectively, on youtube you can mark their comment as spam and hide it. Always a way.

  • Wise post. One of the best I've read around here on youtube.

  • Like Biggie Smalls...He was ready to die.

  • The world is is great place and everyone should just shut up, stop fighting, and ENJOY IT

  • woah this kid is fearless...

  • that guy is a hero. whenever i see that image/video it makes me feel bad that i am such a coward.

  • I know right!!! I was nervous about my presentation tomorrow and started listening to music on youtube and remembered this song...now i feel bad for feeling nervous about a stupid presentation when Tank Man risked his life so courageously...he inspires me :)

  • One man who stands up

    stops an Army

  • he didnt get ran over wtf they shot him in the leg -_-

  • i love this song.! < 33

  • Did he really think they wouldn't run him over?

I wonder. Was he really prepared to die?

  • I wonder. How retarded are u?

  • How'd this turn to a religious debate? My philosophy: To each his own. I don't care what religion you are, just keep out of mine, and other people's faces please. That goes for atheists too, who are almost worse than some fundamentalists sometimes. Oh, and I'm also atheist, I just don't usually tell people.

  • @TomMark182 atheists ftw

  • @TomMark182 I'm Catholic. =D. I respect you though. If I don't I'll be raped by priest. ._.

  • I dunno why we were always taught that the tank dude got ran over. It's clear that the tanks stopped and turned to pass him.

  • Thx for the comments guys. :)

  • how did u get this

  • I downloaded a documentary (actually only video images, no sound) and then I rearranged it with the SOAD video. :)

  • This song is super bomb, and the video is sick. (Sick in a good way) Lol That guy was fucking brave for standing in front of and getting on top of a war tank.

  • me neither im atheist

  • i dont really have a religion, i dont believe in any higher power, but i like the idea of islam the best.

  • i love you... "I dont believe in any higher power" ...but the one whose very fucking name means submission..ie submission to a higher power..GOD....you.like the idea the best. Thankyou Youtube for the entertainment of morons.

  • What happened to the protestor standing in front of the tank?

  • odds are, he got crushed

  • That really sucks!

  • he did get run over, he laid down in front of the tank and said that they would have to run him over to keep on going...so they did.

  • No one really knows, he was taken away by a group of people and he has never been heard from again.

  • Geez, that sucks.

  • and by the way, dispite what western media is saying, people in tiananmen were weaving red flag. they wanted changes on communism, not to change from communism

  • u shall not pass

  • Just shows how pissed off the Chinese people were. The lyrics 'was fashion the reason why they were there?' has to do with the color red, which is the color of communism.

  • It really has nothing to do with red, it has to do with the fact that the media is filling us with shit like fashion etc and telling us it's basically all that's important, when shit like the Tiannemen square proests are going on everyday and most people are too stupid and brainwashed to realize it. That's my interpretation anyway, I've listened to this a lot, so I think I know the meaning pretty well.

  • omg he must have a lot of courage for stay in front whit not weapons and dont move o.o wow

  • This song is awesome, the man that did that had a lot of courage to stand in front of tanks, and even climb on top of one.

  • geez that guy who stoped the tanks had BALLS.

  • I wish the people in America had the convection to stand up for wants right and call out evil for what it is. Don't agree with all of soad's music, but do enjoy this song especially the opening riffs.

People, I repented of my sin to follow Jesus. I'm 24 now, was 21 when I made the decision, BEST decision of my life. The true propaganda is the distortion and lies about Jesus and Christianity. Jesus loves us and wants to give us a better life in Him

  • @ IHaveAReason7

Didn't anyone tell you? Jesus is DEAD. Now stop whining about it. It's been almost 2000 years

  • I have a better life now because of Him, yes He died but He rose again on the third day, He didn't have to die, He did it to prove His love for us. He never did anything wrong

  • Didn't he fuck up the ppl selling stuff in the holy temple of Jerusalem? Since it was Jesus kicking and punching, he must have pwned someone..

    And sinned..

Who are you worshipping? God or Jesus? Jesus just pointed at God, you never look past Jesus I guess.

  • i have to say, it is nice talking to you about this, most people have little to no knowledge of all this. Although He never did sin, He flipped over some tables and drove them out

  • And how would you describe the process of driving them out? It would have been a little more violent than most ppl imagine, because, he succeeded and they left. But we're all speculating. That's my point. He's been dead for 2000 years now. Some other people wrote a biography and some of them never even saw Jesus.

  • thats pretty much the case with ALL biographies. and the four gospels are a bit more than just biographical reitorations of Jesus' ministry, but each holding a separate message and speaking of a different view of him. just because hes dead and his message is old doesnt mean it lacks validity.

  • @bomberman271:

The gospels hold validity, but the bible is just an interpretation of interpretations. Some where along the way someone decided which interpretations suited his goals and which didn't. After that, it was copied and translated (by hand) about a trillion of times, often translations of translations and then some.. Has anyone seen the original copies recently?

I like his message by the way, haven't heard a better one in 2000 years. All the rest is just 2000 year old politics..

  • the bible wasnt written with the intent of being an exact interpretation of what happened. many books in the old testament were written by numerous people, and of course have been translated and edited over the years. however, i can attest that the roman catholic church at least has not added to or removed from the new testament any writings since the death of the last apostle. language may have been slightly changed for translational purposes, but its the same bible from before the dark ages

  • i realize this is a very bold question for youtube, and please know that i have absolutely no intention of insulting anybody, but if you don't mind, What is your religious faith?

  • I tend to accept the psychologies and philosophies of Buddhism yet stretch beyond that in my own personal way...preferring maybe something like "high human"...at least this video says something as alot of SOAD does...sometimes I find I have to check myself and pull back into something meaningful for future humanity...it's easy to get pulled into the B.S. vacumn of stupidity...I see many incredible changes in the next 50 years...it's gonna be some heavy stuff. I hope it all works out.

  • I believe people are flawed and will always be intellectually unable to understand the world, yet they are compelled to search for answers. Religions offer these answers, and bring comfort and peace to fearful and restless human minds. This gives religious leaders great power over their subjects and leaves space for POLITICS. The only message I'm tempted to accept as a whole, is zen, mainly becuase of the lack of politics and beauty of personal enlightenment. So, no I don't mind StFace123 :)

  • thinking creates ideas, and ideas create conflict, and thus politics. a religion completely free of politics is so either because it is so totally straitforward in its message that there cant be any different interpretation, or its message is so weak that noone bothers forming ideas about it. politics isnt a bad thing, because it arises from individual thought and justification. its things without politics that cause problems

  • i like the maturity of all of this. :)

  • "Mesmerize the simple minded

    Propaganda leaves us blinded"

what we are experiencing in America right now is not "progressive"

they aren't using tanks; but they are calling us "angry mobs"... they are trying to silence dissent by boycotting the sponsors of those who expose the truth in the media

they want to regulate the media... a media that has already stopped reporting news they don't want us to know about

  • gulvuv is brainwashed. poor chinese. they are oppresed. have no idea what democracy or freedom is. ha

  • ahh that scene @ the start with the tanks gives me the chills everytime.

Apparently the dude has NEVER been identified....wonder who he was and where he is now....HERO

  • I think they shot him...

  • its about kids that lay down as tanks came and they got run over

  • Everyone is talking about corrupt government. It is the people that elect officials and allow governments to become corrupt by their own complacency.

Governments always start out the same. Lure the people in with great talk and promises of a better life if the individuals simply aloow them to do certain things--for the advancement of it's people of course.

I don't blame government for all of the problems because it is the citizens that allow such a government to become stronger than them.

  • dude, China is not a democratic country.

  • Who said it was?

My point is citizens of a country allow the government to become what they are by ignoring it while feeding into it.

  • "Every nation has the government that they deserve."

  • To people in China: you don't know how wealthy you are. Keep your socialism, because everything else is false. If you look countries: Iraq, Afganistan, Somalia, Iran, Serbia, you'll figure out. Big hello from Serbia

  • they're communism not socialism, there is a difference

  • no actually they are socialism not communism, there is big difference in deed. there have never been a communist country in the world by so far.

no actually in here china is Capitalist. this happen after Deng Xiopings leadership
