My Mamod was like a mad dog. It would run like crazy till it flipped off the track. It was either to slow or too fast. Always burned the shit out of me. My cat jumped at it and burned he paws and tongue. Then one day the whole boiler blew-up. The back plate where the water indicator cracked open and hot water spashed on my wrist. I threw the little fucker out. NO MORE MAMOD FOR ME.
Needs o rings and gland nuts on the cyinders, a lubricator and a higher pressure safety valve, then it will run fine.Dont forget, this is just a toy. Still, waste of time and energy, Mamod making this pile of crap. It will just be a disappointment.Model steam locos need to be built right or not at all
i got one, like yours it was shite.steam leaking etc.so it went back to the "new" mamod company. faults were axle bushes rotating in the frames.wheels out of line & set at wrong heights(hold it upside down & check wheels)they had it back twice & was still the same.even had cheek to ask me( as an engineer)what i thought the proplem was & did i know how to fix it
got my money back in the end and was left to lament the passing of what should be a great british household name .
piss poor performance for £300 and more,no doubt assembled by someone on the minimum wage and bored to death.Shame British industry is now the laughing stock of the world.

Could have been a nice engine and so promising, instead built to the how cheap can we make it principle, instead of how good a quality can we produce!
No wonder I have folks keen to buy older Mamods!
