Great lick by the way, good call.

    Chico

  • I really want to see him play with clapton

  • check out this cover my dad is on drums

  • he's just amazing. it's inspiring to see him play! It was a great pleasure meeting him too, not only is he an amazing musician, he is gracious to his fans! a beautiful person.

  • he's just amazing. it's inspiring to see him play! It was a great pleasure meeting him too, not only is he an amazing musician, he is gracious to his fans! a beautiful person.

  • Just watched again - bloody awesome.

  • Can't complain nothing about it.

  • This is my Generations Stevie Ray Vaughn!

  • This is my generations Stevie Ray Vaughn

  • please don't fly in helicopters when you're really famous

  • im just going to assume the only reason that 12 people dislike this is because of davy's denim jumpsuit because this song is nothing short of perfect

  • i haven't gotten so many goosebumps from a song in such a long time

  • at 3:33

how does he make that? just play fast or need the hand to be so...sry bad englisch

  • Skończyło się granie w pierwotnym składzie tria – nie skończyła się działalność Knowlesa. Zmieniając towarzyszących mu muzyków oraz nazwę grupy na Davy Knowles&Back Door Slam, brytyjski artysta nagrał płytę zatytułowaną „Coming Up for Air”.

  • OH MY GOD! This is the old (new) blues!

    Amazing...

  • I came.

    Seriously, that was insane.

And . .. that kinda rhymes.

  • Awesome job guys... You are carrying the torch for MANY old blues players.....

  • EXCELLENT!!!

  • that guitar got me going ;) woo!

  • Bring back the old band davy!!

  • I only really listen to 60s & 70s music, but this is the best recent band. They're amazing, clear influence from Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac and some Ten Years After. Genius

  • I kinda have my doubts on who's the best one at blues now a days, kenny wayne shepard, john mayer(his bluesy work) or davy knowles

  • @japasetelagoas - I have to put my vote on Davy and Joe Bonamassa!

  • best rock and blues band alive.Period.

  • This young guy is just phenomenal!!!!

  • @daviemcf and looks like Roger Waters :D

  • Im mainly a hard rock type of person, but main these guys are awesome!!!! Amazing live!

  • As amazing as he was back here.

    He's so much better now...

  • Damn man...This guy is really good. They should take this act on the road!

  • clapton can do it without his pinky

  • This guy knows what sounds good. He's "moseseseseses"!

  • What utter crap. He gets the tone he wants. He doesnt want to be Joe Bonamassa, Joe's already there !! Why would Davy Knowles want to sound like somebody else. His tone sounds perfect for the song.

  • Great player, suprised how he can play so fast without ever using his pinky

  • He is using his pinky. I think you are looking too much at the standard box blues licks he is playing, as they usually do not require the use of a pinky for most of them. Where he needs to use his pinky,..he does..

  • amazing, love them!

  • Fuck man...hes the next big thing.

  • He's Amazing! I saw him in concert! I bought the DVD.. I can't wait for it!

  • Frig man.. how does he get his fingers to move so fast...

    freekin awesome man.

    This guy has got it!

  • k is this not actually their song? cause i cant find an actual recording anywhere. even when i look on their discographies this song isnt on any of them.

  • I live in the I.O.M and i remember like 4 years ago when he played at my dads 50th birthday in the farm shed! :D :D :D Jamie was still in the band them (and ross) it was sweet! Ive been to every one of their lil gigs in the I.O.M since.

  • 3:06

    git it!

  • shook hands with davy knwoles and the band and got their autographs

  • anyone know if that's adam jones on bass?

  • ye i think it is hes not in the band no more tho neither is the drummer

  • Well Adam and Ross both left, Davy's with a whole new band... I was just wondering cause before Adam was a guy named Jamie...

  • ye they go by davy knowles and back door slam now

  • no thats not adam jones. that's jamie. adam jones replaced him before they went on their u.s. tour. just lettin ya know

  • thanks man

  • nope, its jaimie, but jaimie wanted to go to uni, so they recruited adam

  • I just saw him in Santa Fe and he rocked my world! Some of the best guitar playing i have ever seen. He's a super nice guy too we got to talk to him and the band a little afterwards! So bad ass!

  • in very sophisticated words....this is the shiz!!!

  • this is pretty much davy's spin on red house...

  • And every other blues song that follows the same riff?? Lol, he also covers red house.

  • Friggin Incredible Riffs. Crazy good band!

  • This reminds me a lot of rory gallagher who in my opinion is the best thing to eva come out of ireland musically.

    Im a fan

  • did anyone else get a boner from the lick at 2:52 to 3:00? or is that just me...

  • i had one from the beginning of the song. They are unbelievable. THEY ARE GONNA MAKE HISTORY!

  • fuck and yes. and the way he ended it too. jesus, *full* of bluesy strat tone, and *full* of win

  • mate i didnt get a boner, i actually came

  • @jKRAMER001 What a guitarist and singer...I've had it for three hours lol!!

  • @jKRAMER001 well, 'boner' would be stretccchhhhhinggg it a bit, but as they say I really liked the part from 0:00 to 5:25

  • @jKRAMER001

I Got A Boner All The Way Through The Song!

  • man this is the first time ive heard this song, and fuck me, thats mind-blowing

  • these guys are one of the first shows of rothbury, what an epic start to an epic weekend

  • how did you get the schedule already i thought they only announced the headliner schedule

  • Does anyone know if this song by the original BDS is on an audio recording (high quality)? I love watching this video over and over but would also like to have it in audio. One of the best things they ever did, IMO. Somewhere SRV is smiling.....

  • Could you please come to Vancouver. Please. And preferable don't play at a 19+ only show!

  • Well no offence to the other guys in back door slam but we all know your the star Davy, i mean you played with Warren Haynes for gods sake!

Get to Denmark i love you gig!

  • When did he play with Warren Haynes? I heard BDS supported the Mule. How the §`/% could I have missed that... this band is incredible.

  • A message from Davy Knowles:

"To clear up any confusion, this is not the end of the road for any of us...whilst Adam & Ross are pursuing their own music careers outside this band, I can confirm I will be continuing as Davy Knowles & Back Door Slam. I am currently writing and preparing songs for the follow up to Roll Away, and I will be touring later in the year to support its release. Can't wait for that, & I look forward to seeing you out there on the road! More news soon, Cheers, Davy :) "

  • I can't believe it!!! I just saw them a few months ago at the Berbatti's Pan here in Portland. They were just getting their shit tight!! Motherfucker, I am really pissed right now.

  • the white hendrix?

  • well I just heard that they broke up the band

  • man he rocks, just raw gritty blues! he is my fav along with SRV, Gary Moore, and Joe Bonamassa

  • The best band i'v seen ever...ever...ever

    and i mean ever

    they rock

n there not goin anywhere either so we get more of the best band ever for lik 30 years hopefully

  • I really really hate to tell yout this kinda thing over youtube, but they broke up not too long ago. Check out the website. Sorry man.

  • Yeah, the guitarist is great, and he can sing, but the rest of the band is a bit lack-luster.

  • by no means are they a SRV or Clapton or Jimi, but they're pretty good. keep playing

  • dude, I've seen Back Door Slam twice in concert and they just keep getting better. The 2nd time I saw them they opened for Gov't Mule and on their last song Warren came out and rocked a 12 min version of What in the World and the look on Warrens face said it all, Davy can play with the best of em.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow !!! With a voice like that, guitar skills, and good song writing = Big star has finally arrived.

  • SRV´s pupil

  • Davy Knowles works his strat better than anyone since Hendrix. Back Door Slam is great because they play what the like and not what the record companies want them to.

  • How can you say this guy isnt EXTREMELY talented? He plays with Jimis feel,Claptons subtlty and Stevie Rays brute force and soul,I mean look at that mean ass tremolo picking he's doing at 3:36.And as far as originality, how many blues guitaists use volume swells like than, and also can shred the neck on that wah solo so cleanly?Plus his voice sounds like Post cream clapton, and that tone is all his,I though John Mayer was the bluesman of the 2000's,but Davy is just plain scary great.

  • Davy Knowles is the latest new talent the Blues guitar scene has seen in a few years besides Derek Trucks...Give this guy some slack...its the blues, its not gonna be original by any means. He just has soul and I'm proud of what hes bringing to the music scene.

  • p.s. sing Red House by jimi hendrix next to this. and it works!

  • Wow!! That guitarist knows how to shred he is the probably the best i have ever heard so far

  • its a cover moron... you have the musical taste of a 13 year old

  • its not a cover this an original written by Davy Knowles

  • HAHA!!! I agree about the baseball reference. I disagree about Knowles though. I think compared to most blues rock guys out there he's by far the most original.

  • how?? this sounds like any other blues song I have ever heard.

  • Um, I don't mean the song. I mean the playing. He doesn't just use like Stevie licks all day, he always adds some creative, little more B.B. King reminiscent licks. He has more originality and style than all of the other blues-rock (Stevie-clone) guys out there.

  • It is kinda boring. Very standard. What the fuck happened to a warm blues tone too. This dude's tone is annoying.

  • this sounds a lot like the song "I Can't Quit You Baby" by Led Zeppelin

  • Does anyone know if this their own original song or a cover of someone elses?

  • WOW! these guys are deffiniatly one of the best bands ive ever heard. they just put so much soul into it. this is just absoultly amazing and inspiring.

  • They are definately very very good, might be a stretch to say, best of the century so far! they have a great sound and solid songwriting. but you need to branch out if you think everything coming out these days sucks, Gov't Mule, Widespread Panic, Mofro, just to name 3 that are killing it these days.

  • i'm convinced these guys are the best band of the 21st century so far. they shine like a diamond among all the shitty "rock" music put out these days. i hope these dudes become huge and bring back true rock and roll.

  • @razberyjamdeltaV Radio Moscow is better

  • this is another bassplayer ore just a new hair cut?

  • No this bassplayer is Jamie Armstrong but i think he left to go to university, So Adam took his place.

  • wish i could find more groups playing a style much like this but it's a rare catch. truly soothing

  • I saw these kids in New Orleans with Lynard Skynard on Aug 8. Never heard of them. When they came out I saw three teenage kids and thought how cute. By the time they were done I was blown away and screaming for more. Memories of Stevie Ray, Eric, Jimi. These "kids" are awesome. Just starting. Stay tuned.

  • this reminds me of a very young clapton, like during his cream days. He will probably follow the same trend and merge into more rock oriented stuff as he get older, but i love hearing things like this because it shows what there is in this bands future.

  • man oh man, their bassist looks like Jodie Foster.

And they rock as a band.

  • RE: If you're gonna say that, then clapton, hendrix, and all those guys didn't bring anything new to the table than blues through an electric guitar...

Wrong. Those guys did other things besides blues. But I'm not really even into their blues either. It's probably why I loved their contemporaries like DEEP PURPLE and YES more, they hardly did the blues.

I find it one of the most un-imaginative things in music...but that's just me.

  • Robert Johnson may have been a "youngster," but that was REAL blues. This band sounds like they've studied all the masters, but have nothing new to bring to the table. Sorry, but decade after decade it gets more and more watered down.

Still, if you enjoy this and it makes you happy...right on.

  • If you're gonna say that, then clapton, hendrix, and all those guys didn't bring anything new to the table than blues through an electric guitar. If your a purist than listen to country blues. I love lightnin hopkins, elmore james, robert johnson etc. but i also love electric blues. Don't limit what you can take away from blues greats of the past and blues greats now. these cats can play

  • I have to agree with olhole. They are truly amazing but their sound is very reminiscent of the greats. Nothing really new or fresh here but man can they play the traditional stuff!

  • Hell, is watching youngsters play the blues. Give me some Muddy Waters or Robert Johnson instead.

  • its youtube, man. i'll bet you can find some.

  • Under that logic, blues will die with all the old masters. Besides, Robert Johnson was 28 when he died -- he *was* a youngster!

  • i really wish i knew what kind of strat he's working with there. Maybe a deluxe players edition? this is the best tine he has of the videos i have seen.

  • Hey there , Its an SRV strat , but the tone is coming from the amp mainly - its a different amp to any of the other videos he has on here. hope this helps - Colli x

  • fuck you idiot

  • Go to hell.

  • mediocre guitar playing--great voice and conviction...

  • What makes you say that? And cut him some slack - He's 19 here.

  • of course, you being the lord high master of guitar playing. I mean, of course you know what your talking about.

  • I just saw these guys @ nightfalls in chattanooga and they were ridiculous. Its just a shame that these guys and other talented groups get no air play while talentless pricks reap in the dough.

  • You got that right, saw them last night at the Bowery, nyc...I was amazed....

  • funny thing is i saw them in jackson and they had beers in there hand

  • I agree, I totally sent BDS a message on their myspace page telling them to stear clear of women, drugs, alcohol and planes...lol............told him straught up...........blues is in your hands! DONT fuck it up.........dont drowned in your own vomit and dont fly.........

  • Great young players, but little Robert Cray influence (I figure their name comes from a great RCB tune). They're in the vein of Hendrix/SRV, like many other bands. I've yet to hear anyone new on the scene using Cray's approach: the R&B influences, songs that reach for new territory, letting the song breathe with the monster fretmanship often taking a back seat.. JMayer has been partway there, but still quite far. If I'm wrong, send me a link.

  • This had better be on their second album.

  • I have a 16 year old guitarist son and a budding 14 year old bassist son and the Back Door Slam cd gets equal play with their collection of Cream,SRV,Rory Gallager,Peter Green,Hendrix,Free,Led Zeppelin,Johnny Winter, etc and for good reason-Back Door Slam belongs in the company of young players and classic greats. We have to inspire our "up and comers" so they too can one day influence others to widen their horizons to include a style of music that should never be relegated to the backseat.

  • Thank you for posting. It is truly amazing how far these guys have come in the past year but pure talent and hard work will do that.

  • Amazing. Renews my faith in the younger generation's music. Let the lemmings watch American Idol - I'll watch these guys - the true spirit of Rock Music.

  • Know what you mean!!

  • oh yeah Back Door Slam has hold of the torch. Joe Bonamassa is incredible as well I'm seeing him in June.

  • i Joe Bonamassa 2 days ago at the Doheny Blues festival

    he was incredible

  • I can't wait!

  • cant say it better, this is realy quality stuff!!!

  • They're givin' a free concert tomorrow in li'l ole Mobile, AL at The Blue Gill on The Causeway.

    Rock on!!

  • Oops!!!

It's at Felix's Fish Camp, jus down da road from The Blue Gill.

    SOOOOOO Sorry!!

  • Dave need to go get some Eric Culberson records.

  • The guitar playing is off the chain.

  • its a damn shame guys like these three dont get more recognition when all those emo shitfags are making millions. keep it up guys

  • That will change!!

  • You got that right. its bands like this that dont get the mainstream press that are better than 95% of the music playin on the radio

  • Biggest problem in the world.
