I started the novel a few days ago, and I'm down to the last few pages. I can't wait to see this movie, but from what I can tell, Eli is exactly how i imagined her
Great, great movie. Far better than the US remake. Kodi (Oskar) wasnt as vulnerable as Kare. And Chloe (Eli) could not match the creepiness - and longing- of Lina.
I think let me in isnt a remake. Because the story is from a book right? or something like that and both made their own interpretation. Right? Thumbs up to let everyone know this.
@goosebumpsguy This film is not frightening but there are moments in it which are just too emotionally complicated for 11 year olds and which might need you to respond to questions which you would prefer to answer later. The idea of vampires, sexuality and inner darkness are central to the film and I just do not think that a young audience would appreciate it. Yet this is a film that is not to be missed, so watch it later to get the full majesty of the narrative :)
i didnt think movies should be allowed to show naked kids ... fck artistic freedom... but after a little research on the theory that her penis was cut off hundreds or thousands of years ago. even if it was in the book, that was a vagina. not a scar or whatever.. i doubt they even used a plastic double. just a plain ordinary vagina. its a girl fools. would it be legal for the govt to arrest you for child porn owning this or other movies with kids being naked? i dont get it?
@hackajim theoretically if you owned say dozens of movies with lots of kids in the nip - it could possibly be used against you in a court. But your lawyer would have to be the worst lawyer in the world if you actually got a conviction. Commercial movies like this one have passed dozens of film censors worldwide. If a nude scene is in the movie - it's there for a reason. For those who haven't seen this - it's about a 1 second shot. Without it - his (Oscar) reaction would make no sense.
@medi18 on "let me in" the american remake, his reaction makes perfect sense, he's just checking to make sure she is actually a girl, because she asked earlier, "would you still like me if i wasn't a girl"..... in both versions you can see that he's checking her out naked.
@soitan003 yea i have this movie but the movie called let me in is a remake basically but its exactly the same just a bit better well i think and i usually hate remakes ut its in english so yea u should watch both there awsome movies i give em thumbs up to the max
It's so arrogant of "Let me in" authors to say their version is based solely on the novel and not on "Let The Right One In" movie. Even from this trailer one can tell they totally copied the sets and many other things in their remake. I prefered american cast though.

@BoxyTheSpaceDog Hey, Let Me In wasn't as good as the original, but it's amazing for a hollywood remake. I certainly don't regret watching it, unlike most remakes...
its funny. I was turned off by the original swedish version because I thought cheaper foreign films would be a bit hookey and cheesy. I wanted to watched the American version first. Clearly I was just being ignorant considering its the other why around. The hollywood version is cheesy and hookey.
I think that probably what is the most moving though is that this film that I saw on kookíca is able to take hold of you and when you're let go in the end; the only thing you can think of is that you are just glad to seeing it.

Eli is a 12 year old girl (gender neutral as all children are before they grow up). She is old, but her mind has never developed beyond 12 years old.She is innocent as well as being a monster.Oskar and Eli are opposite sides of the same coin. Eli is Oskar's dark side, while Oskar is Eli's light. At the heart of it all, this is a coming-of-age love story disguised as a horror story. Oskar = Own
Eli = Abby
P.S.:American version simplified it a bit more, and made it just a horror film
@SoundtracksMusic I agree with your comment except for - gender neutral? All children have a gender from before they are born! Its what parents get excited about with all those baby scans. "Gender neutral" doesn't make any sense to me.
@medi18 Gender doesn't refer to whether someone is physically a boy or a girl, it refers to the personality traits commonly found in adolescent/adult men or women, the ones that don't develop before the average age of 13.
Gender is commonly, though incorrectly, used as a cleaner version of the word "sex," when referring to whether someone is physically a boy or girl.
Gender neutral is the correctness BS term of today, where weak hippies try to demonize everything masculine. It's a new social experiment going against biology - attempting to make boys more female. Somehow they got it in their heads that manhood is negative, and needs to be "corrected" by making boys play with dolls and hinder them from their natural instincts. Also we can't let adolescents have sexuality, that thought is way too scary to confront! Better pretend it's impossible!
@SoundtracksMusic Actually, Eli is a boy who had his penis removed around the time he was turned by his sire who was a pedophile. It is more clear in the book, but they added elements of this in the movie aswell. That's also why they dubbed her voice in the movie to make it seem more boyish. But I agree with the other parts.
@SoundtracksMusic thank you until someone express a really good idea about this to movies and i agree with you let me in is a horror movie once more thank you
@sladunkaAa They do share a bed. Who knows, it's up to the viewer to decide. you'll have to go see the movie. I think Oscar is too innocent to even know about making love. I think they just cuddle.
@medi18 he does know about sex, in the book he was even saying to Eli how he heard that the guy who owns the candy shop brings girls there to have sex,and they laughed and made jokes about it. I am 13 and I knew about it when I was 12.
@sladunkaAa They didn't, the vampire is actually a guy that has been castrated, so they can't really have sex. Have you read the book? It is quite different then the movie, however both are good..
@sladunkaAa No they didn't. Read the book.The screenplay for the movie was written by the author as well. It goes into more specific details as to why they didn't. Great book and a great movie.
@sladunkaAa did you born perverted or something like that i use to take baths with my sister and cousins (females) when we were very young and nothing happen we were innocent we were children and some of us enjoy more life than sex
@sladunkaAa NO THEY DIDN´T!!! I read the book and watched the movie a few times and they definitly did not had sex,in the book Eli even asks Oskar if he wants to make out but he says no(in that scene).
i didnt like this movie let me in had better actors scenes and was scarier this is a low budget russian flick that kinda sucked let me in made it better
i love this movie! i sorta son't want to see let me in because it is a remake pretty much, and that is a downer. this movie is great :D some of the translations are not correct though!
oh gawd, please learn from making this and understand the mistakes you made. What was with the fragmented scenes in 1:28? It seems like all you did was edit some clips with music. Too much footage used, it ruins the ambiguity of the film that a trailers supposed to have.
@AnotherMasterMind yeah that song just fit the movie, so I put it on this trailer. It's not an official LTROI soundtrack tune .. but yeah go see the movie. rent it, find it, see it. awesome. thanks for watching.
i dot remember so strong movie with a such mix of emotions o love one so much like eli since i saw the professional directed by luck besson matilda and eli have something in common and something so different lat den ratten komma in is wonderful movie forget all the rest vampire movies this is the best like you never seen before
do you think Eli LOVES Oskar. or does she just need someone NEW to "look after her"? as being a Vampire, of course she outlives her wards. I actually look forward to seeing the remake, i hope they dont screw it up the way they did with one of my favorite written vampire stories "I am legend"
good idea for a movie but to be honest movies are never perfect, a lot of wrighters put stuff in that they shouldnt and dont put stuff in that they should
awe! so beautiful! I adored this film, you picked fascinating scenes to include in your trailer, also without spoiling the film. I am not going to see the remake- I also own the novel- has anyone read it?
@Culilus1 Yes! You are in luck, do they have a copy of this novel in English. I was able to find it in NYC- I am certain you can order at your local bookstore- or online if you need to. Lindqvist, writes wonderfully- and has been compared to Clive Barker and Neil Gaiman- I simply adore Neil Gaiman by the way! The film is impressive, too bad you didn't have a chance to see it in the theatre. Ihope you enjoy!Let me know what you think:-) I own the film as well- it was that good.
@blackmetallicgirl (: O i just got movie from amazon (i watched instant version on their site) the dvd is in dubbed :( they sound retarded in english /wrist
It was not as good as i hoped for , I just got done watching it . They could have done so much more with the movie , they took there time and layed it on nice and slow . Changes i would have made would have been a scene were the girl was starving and almost attacks the boy . A scene were u get to see her turn into a demonic looking creature , and I would have made the boy turn .
@itinkgirlzhot12 Eli is not a 'guy'. Eli is neither boy nor girl, or possibly both (hermaphrodite). Not important for the film plot either way. But it does add intrigue.
@medi18 This is true it does add intrigue- but I think this is what adds to the mysteriousness of the film. Oskar, is not accepted, but forms this attatchment with Eli- whom is not accepted in society - I think it's an ubelievable story and film. I think it's much more about being unconditionally accepted. The authors second book is acutally on the way out. I think he is more philiosophical- which I agree with-It's def much more profound to post on here. Lol

If you have read the book , it explains a lot - Eli was once a boy but was chosen , castrated then turned into a vampire at a very young age. Till I knew about this I always assumed Eli was female but gender in the movie was never an issue , the movie was so much deeper then that and quickly became one of my all time favorites. I am enjoying the trailer for Let me in & it seems many key scenes are re done in it,but I wonder how much of the original storyline will be lost
@theebaydj yes I read the book and I love it! buuuuut I´m talking about Tomas Alfredson´s movie (I am not talking about John Ajvide Lindqvist´s book) :-D
@medi18 Well, in the book, it was made pretty clear that Eli is a boy, however the film is less obvious. But ultimately her/his gender is not important, I agree.
Actually, the director explicitly said he was a guy. And he was a guy in the book. It didn't really disturb me, though. They seemed more like two really close friends than anything to me.
@medi18 eli is a boy who was castrated testicles and penis just before turn it in to vampire that is acording to the book when eli said be me for a little she/he transmit in to him the memories how it happen you should read the book to understand more is a lot lost in movie and they made if softer than the book do you want to know more ask me? thanks
@itinkgirlzhot12 The bed is no place for clothes , sex or no sex . But that was always like a fantasy of mine when i was that age . I always wanted a vampire girl to come cuddle with me in the middle I would be like " turn me " lol . While most kids were in there bed scared of the monsters under the bed , I wanted to be turned into one .
@itinkgirlzhot12 How would that of worked with a sowed up cat lol , idk but i would love to fuck a vampire . And toward the end i would be like change me babe :D
Beautiful music choice, good compilation, nice ending shot. This makes one interested in watching. You made a good video, but I think maybe it reveals too much. It shows some things that one wants to remain a surprise. 2:25-2:35 being an example. That scene could have ended about 3 ways, and this shows so much of the scene, that we know which way it ends. Trailers should make you wonder how a scene ends, instead of telling you. But still a nice watch.
actually, the DJ shadow song "transmision 2" samples from the soundtrack of another great early vampire movie, "Martin". I recommend it & the soundtrack
It'll be interesting to see how this gets screwed up with the American version coming out. Well, at least we are consistent in doing that with adaptations of foreign films. :)
@FrenziedBlue13 Ok, so you say that each film is a variation of the same book much like the movie "Manhunter" and "Red Dragon" were different adaptations of the same book.
Since I wrote this, I've seen clips of the American film and scenes are almost identical to the Swedish film. Of course, these scenes could be as they were in the book (which I never read).

@HitGirlx Don't make judgement calls. I don't give a damn how old you are. Keep your mouth shut if all that's gunna be coming out if stupid remarks. Your opinions are terrible, no one wants to hear them. You;re basically saying that sex is the same as laying down nude next to someone and ppl who happen to be bisexual are actually just and greedy, indecisive. It's rude and ignorant, no matter what age you are.
@Crackfox92 Ondskan is another swedish film with the same kinda tone. It's about violence at a boarding school and it is very brutal. It got nominated for an oscar

Oskar = Own
Eli = Abby
P.S.:American version simplified it a bit more, and made it just a horror film

@SoundtracksMusic just a correction: Eli is a 12 year old boy
AngusSgXD 1 year ago
@SoundtracksMusic I agree with your comment except for - gender neutral? All children have a gender from before they are born! Its what parents get excited about with all those baby scans. "Gender neutral" doesn't make any sense to me.
medi18 1 year ago 7
@medi18 Yes I do! but we are speaking about this book. It´s fiction and It isn´t reality
SoundtracksMusic 1 year ago
@medi18 Gender doesn't refer to whether someone is physically a boy or a girl, it refers to the personality traits commonly found in adolescent/adult men or women, the ones that don't develop before the average age of 13.
Gender is commonly, though incorrectly, used as a cleaner version of the word "sex," when referring to whether someone is physically a boy or girl.
goji3755 11 months ago
@medi18
Better pretend it's impossible!
hellspawnds 10 months ago
@SoundtracksMusic Actually, Eli is a boy who had his penis removed around the time he was turned by his sire who was a pedophile. It is more clear in the book, but they added elements of this in the movie aswell. That's also why they dubbed her voice in the movie to make it seem more boyish. But I agree with the other parts.

@sladunkaAa They do share a bed. Who knows, it's up to the viewer to decide. you'll have to go see the movie. I think Oscar is too innocent to even know about making love. I think they just cuddle.
medi18 1 year ago 7

@sladunkaAa If u had seen the movie you should have known that they can't have sex, biologically speaking. Why? I'll let you discover yourself.

@sladunkaAa NO THEY DIDN´T!!! I read the book and watched the movie a few times and they definitly did not had sex,in the book Eli even asks Oskar if he wants to make out but he says no(in that scene).

oh gawd, please learn from making this and understand the mistakes you made. What was with the fragmented scenes in 1:28? It seems like all you did was edit some clips with music. Too much footage used, it ruins the ambiguity of the film that a trailers supposed to have.

do you think Eli LOVES Oskar. or does she just need someone NEW to "look after her"? as being a Vampire, of course she outlives her wards. I actually look forward to seeing the remake, i hope they dont screw it up the way they did with one of my favorite written vampire stories "I am legend"

It was not as good as i hoped for , I just got done watching it . They could have done so much more with the movie , they took there time and layed it on nice and slow . Changes i would have made would have been a scene were the girl was starving and almost attacks the boy . A scene were u get to see her turn into a demonic looking creature , and I would have made the boy turn .
bockydo 1 year ago
ya know wats disturbing in the movie eli is a guy
itinkgirlzhot12 1 year ago
@itinkgirlzhot12 Eli is not a 'guy'. Eli is neither boy nor girl, or possibly both (hermaphrodite). Not important for the film plot either way. But it does add intrigue.
medi18 1 year ago
@medi18 This is true it does add intrigue- but I think this is what adds to the mysteriousness of the film. Oskar, is not accepted, but forms this attatchment with Eli- whom is not accepted in society - I think it's an ubelievable story and film. I think it's much more about being unconditionally accepted. The authors second book is acutally on the way out. I think he is more philiosophical- which I agree with-It's def much more profound to post on here. Lol

@medi18
I am enjoying the trailer for Let me in & it seems many key scenes are re done in it,but I wonder how much of the original storyline will be lost
theebaydj 1 year ago 3
@theebaydj yes I read the book and I love it! buuuuut I´m talking about Tomas Alfredson´s movie (I am not talking about John Ajvide Lindqvist´s book) :-D

@medi18 Eli's a castrated boy, simple as that
mkitten13 1 year ago
@medi18
This. In the Book Eli is 100% a male, in the film it isn't decided.
HollowContact 1 year ago
@medi18 Well, in the original book, Eli is a boy, he was castrated. The movie shows the result of that amputation in a short scene.
MiguelDeCorella 1 year ago
@medi18 Well, in the book, it was made pretty clear that Eli is a boy, however the film is less obvious. But ultimately her/his gender is not important, I agree.
FinalDestination019 1 year ago
@medi18
Actually, the director explicitly said he was a guy. And he was a guy in the book. It didn't really disturb me, though. They seemed more like two really close friends than anything to me.
berkshireee 1 year ago
@medi18 Eli is a boy. He was castrated when he was turned into a vampire. :) The book goes into a lot of detail about that.

@medi18 eli is a boy who was castrated testicles and penis just before turn it in to vampire that is acording to the book when eli said be me for a little she/he transmit in to him the memories how it happen you should read the book to understand more is a lot lost in movie and they made if softer than the book do you want to know more ask me? thanks

@mus1cat the swedish was the adaptation of a book, and the american will be the adaptation of the same book. it isnt an adaptation of a swedish film.
FrenziedBlue13 1 year ago
@FrenziedBlue13 Ok, so you say that each film is a variation of the same book much like the movie "Manhunter" and "Red Dragon" were different adaptations of the same book.
Since I wrote this, I've seen clips of the American film and scenes are almost identical to the Swedish film. Of course, these scenes could be as they were in the book (which I never read).
