How I miss Waylon... and I'm sure she listens to his music all the time, but she was a wonderful companion and the best duet ever !!! Long live Jessi !!!! We love you!
Somehow I had forgotten about this song. I assure you it will nevrer happen again. Jessi is absolutely beautiful and her voice sends chills up my spine. Thank you so much for sharing this. You made my day!!
I wish it were possible to say I love Jessie and have Jessie Colter and Jessie lynn White hear me and know that I have and always will. I wrote a song to the tune of Dreaming my Dreams...chorus: "I've been in love with you...since I first laid eyes on you...but I'd walk away...if that's what you want me to do.." I'm fairly certain you both are getting your hearts desire for I have walked away. If I thought I heard either of you call my name...ah, Jess. signed, sealed and etcetera...Cody
I have George Strait's version on his box set "Strait Out Of The Box" 4 CD set he released in 1005 I think the year was. Whoever said they uploaded the Don Gibson one as well, that song must have been recorded many different times. At least Don Gibson doesn't have to say Oh Lonesome Me" that time. Lol!
When God felt a need to listen to the Oulaw part of Country and Western music, he gave us Waylon Jennings. And HE realized immediately, the Outlaw was constantly getting wild and out of control. So HE gave WJ Jessi Coulter, .... what a Blessing. And this Angel has never stopped "delivering" the sweetest songs with WJ and by herself.
Wish'd I had that kind of talent, such a beautiful woman and sings so well----- I love the songs Waylon and Jessi do together----- They were a match made in "Heaven"----
Always thought Jessi was one of the best looking ladies on the planet. Why she wasn't in more movies is something we may never find a answer too.Her unique voice and style are just too cool.Waylon was a lucky man indeed to have loved such a classy lady.
'I Thought I Heard You Calling My Name'...Jessi recorded 1976, charted # 29.
Song written by Lee Emerson (E L Bellamy). Singer (sang with Marty Robbins), songwriter, manager etc...shot in 1978 by SSgt. Barry Sadler who had #1 song
'The Ballad Of The Green Berets' in 1966...
(Lee old 'beau' of a woman Sadler was dating / taunting Sadler / claimed self-defense / thought Lee reached for a weapon / plea voluntary manslaughter / Sadler five years / all suspended except 30 days)...srj
I think she is the most beautiful creature to walk the face of the earth and she still is and always will be ! I Love your music Jessi ! I miss waylon so badly ! Love you both from the bottom of my heart !
@1150ram i agree with you on every thing you say they are two of my favourites and i always play their music every day, but this song is the most touching one i have ever heard and she is the only lady that sings it with such feeling, keep it country
@1150ram I totally agree. I miss Waylon bad too! :( She is so gorgeous and they loved each other to the extreme, and it is like that here with my dear husband me. Been married 44 years now and sure hope for a few more. :) (The only thing is we can't sing LOL)
@KentuckyLady I think you and your husband can sing , and sing beautifully ! I believe in people just like you and your husband. You truly are the best people in the world ! I live in Northern Ontario Canada and we have wonderfull people up here to just like you and your husband !!!
Jessi reminds me of Linda Rondstat... I saw her for the first time on Johnny Carson, just before she became a BIG star... They are both just as awsome.... No favorites... They all are............
Jessi is so beautiful and I always wished we had seen more of her, but she was always content to be the"wind beneath Waylon's wings". Thank you tarquin for posting!!
Nice cover, but this was not REAL Jessi Colter music cuz she didn't write it herself. The reason her solo career was so huge while it lasted was because she wrote her own songs, and they were all VERY GOOD.
She's a fine interpreter, but this sucks compared to her first two Capitol classic solo albums, and the Wanted: Outlaws album, which are absolutely untouchable.
The picture at 37 seconds into this video is ABSOLUTE BEAUTY. I've never met her but would love to. She is the complete package with a pure and great voice. Thanks for posting the video!
I wish I could find maybe you should've been listening. This lady has the voice of an angel when sh sings, that song I just mentioned s anther great one of hers
I watch this video and just think I would give all the rest of my life just to talk to Jessie for a few days. I am old now but have loved her a long time. What a beautiful person and songwriter. I'm not Lisa and Storms never last is enough in a lifetime.
Jessie's Voice ,caught me from the first, The volume variables always intriqued me...and still do.She is a 'stylist' and in a klass by herself. Even tho..she's smiling beside Shooter there is a saddness in her eyes ,from missing her big man "Waylon " Thank God ..artists as muh late wife was leave us work we can enjoy the rest of our days on this ol' planet. Jessie yer still cuter'n a truck load of baby ducks....smiles ,Glen
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
They sort of threw this album together on-the-fly, after the "Outlaws" album, and you could tell. She barely wrote any of the songs (unlike her first two Capitol albums) and her voice was lame. But this album went gold with no hit singles to speak of.
This song stunk compared to Jessi's original material. Capitol should have committed to promoting her as a Carly Simon-style act, and she would've had far more shelf life.
Amazingly talented woman. Bad material...especially here.
You guys should hear her sing "I belong to him", I have tried my best to find it on you tube, also listen to "you should hav e b een listening when I said Goodye, & His eye is on the sparrow, talk about some sad songs, this gal is the greatest performer of all time, NO ONE can match her melody
love the song and singer, and just reading some of the comments on this song makes me cry, its the saddest version of this ive ever heard thats all down to jesse putting real feeling in to it. just fantastic.
I have been a fan for over 35yrs, this is the most touching version I have ever heard, It brings out feelings in me I thought I forgot & I cry when I listen, the same thing happened to me 34yrs ago, & I still hear him calling my name.
If we could just keep the "one" love, but, as usual, this seems to happen to a large majority of people, & it changes us from who we are into someone we don't recognize unwilling to forget the memories, & I still hear him caling my name.
I couldnt have said it better..She has to be one of the most beautiful people ever. Way lon was lucky to have found her or her him...Thanks you tube for making this possible...
Though I've heard many different artists do versions of this classic, I have NEVER heard one even close to Jessi. I heard this just after it was released on the radio and still shed tears almost everytime that I hear it. After my wife of over 43 years, died in 2006, this song really brings back so many wonderful memories. Jessi is such a beautiful lady and seems to be such a beautiful person, I really love her and her music. Thanks SO much for posting this most wonderful song of hers.
I read your bio and I thought I was reading my own - can't believe two people from two different countries could have so many things in common. Pretty Ms. Jessi has a style all her own and it's pretty damn good... I love it. Thanks a bunch, friend, for loading up... you've made a happy man out of this big Texan! God Bless You!

@papabecool

Thanks for setting me straight!
