Umm... Well, you know, there was color T.V. then, too. Now if you really want to go back, CBS was broadcasting their own color system in 1953; & the NBC began color broadcasts using the RCA Compatible Color System (so any T.V. set could receive the signals) in 1954. The Howdy Doody Show was broadcast in color in 1954. Superman went to color in 1956; the Perry Como Show shortly thereafter. By the 1960's, you had Bonanza; Disney's Wonderful World of Color, & many others.
I grew up in the 60s with 2-3 Tom Lehrer albums that we nearly wore out. LOVE LOVE him and is so great to see the footage!!!
