It was cheaper to just pay the Blacks enough for a meal than having to house them on the land of these beautiful estates and give them a meal. Spaniards were the first to bring slaves to the New World, and ONLY because of their ability to work the fields. Spaniards also used Indians as slaves. And of COURSE that upsrisings change things. I agree blacks were more prone to be enslaved by various civilisations but who sold those blacks to the Europeans? Were they not greedy black chiefs? That's only a part of the problem. The biggest problem I see for blacks in America is the welfare state which undermines the family. Do you think it coincidence that the birth of the welfare system happens right after the civil rights movement? The destruction of the family is the biggest problem. It is what keeps fathers from teaching their children what they need to know to be free, decent and productive people. Children fear their fathers and rarely their mothers. It'swhatkeepsthemincheck.

What are you talking about??? Are you talking about the US???? Because those sort of social safety nets existed way before the start of the civil rights movement. Remember the New Deal Program, FDR?????? The fact is that the people responsible for forcing the government to implement some sort of social saftey net were in majority white workers. This was during the great depression. You dont know really anything about african americans do you?

just what I've seen on t.v and I once had a black English teacher and he was a very good teacher because he made me work for every grade I got. By the way, I believe that the elimination of the family isn't just a black problem but a national one. Did the real deal work?

The New Deal programs of FDR were largely ineffectual and non-productive. They didn't stimulate economic growth or opportunity. They were band-aid solutions that didn't cure the problem. It took a world war to end the depression. The mindset of government being all things to all people was firmly entrenched by the Democratic party, a patronizing paternalistic master that meted out entitlements, but never empowering the people whose vote they take for granted. blacks made their own way. welfare was made for poor white people. black people weren't on it after slavery ended.
pick up a history book.
by the way 75% of blacks are not on welfare.

I also think what had a place in ending slavery was the white man was scared.They started to see what was happening in the carribean in Jamaica,Haiti etc.. they had brung too many slaves to the countries therefore making the population moslty black.They were scared of an uprising and a takover, how they did in these caribbean countries.

I think you are wrong on your main point.
All the historical text I have seen on the subject stated that black uprisings and loss of colonies would occur if the slaves were freed as an arguement from the anti-abolishment group.

Slavery's never been abolished(only different cases of it have been), just look at the sex slavery of eastern europe, people should place far more empahsis upon saving slaves who are alive today than about the ones who died two hundred years ago, we can't help them today but we can help those slaves who are alive today, more emphasis must be placed on the present and the future, as we all know that most people rarely learn anything from the past and this will continue to be for ever

Millions of people were kidnapped from Africa, transported in appalling conditions and then worked to death to create profits for big companies that still exist today. The fact that you can even compare it to sex slavery indicates that you certainly need to be reminded of the facts.

Yeah - tho it's worth remembering that all that profit that the slaves created went to companies that still exist today [tate & lyle]. And racism first emerged as a system of ideas to justify slavery, so we're still living with the legacy. And this meeting here talks about how slavery was fought by the slaves themselves so it still has important lessons for the struggle today..
