Anyone seriously interested in cigars ought to look at this deal thompson cigar has happening at the moment, for $20 I just received a bunch of various cigars that was entirely worth every penny! Thompsoncigar-PH16.Co.Cc
The greatest Murial Cigar ad was the one with the Fidel Castro look-alike breaking into the Murial song while in a conga line with his lieutenants, "car-r-r-rumba! how do they do eeet?!"
Ha. Reminds me of George Carlin's joke about cigars. "Sigmund Freud said. 'Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.' Oh yeah? Well, sometimes it´s a big brown dick!"
One of my heroines. Loved Ernie Kovacs and was left a young widow and mother with IRS liens. She put on the gown and went out and plugged cigars AND learned tax law. Oh and was extremely hot to boot!
For ONLY A DIME?! I got hundreds of those laying around my couch, under the bed, in the closet, god knows where else. If only this was the 60's...Holy smokes!
You are a strange person.Just look at your right and you will see the video of her doing Marylin Monroe. I have never mentioned Mae West EVER in relationship to Edie Adams. She did a good Mariyln Monroe imitation as seen on You Tube. Mae West. has nothing to do with this video.
The cigar industry took pity on Edie Adams after her famous cigar-smoking husband died. Trenton-born comedian Ernie Kovacs died in a single car accident while trying to light a cigar. He was a big gambler, a big spender, and paid no taxes. He left her and their kids in big hole.
Takes you back to a time when people knew how to have adult fun. How long before cigars will be illegal? It's turned into a sad bicycle helmeted world.
Edie was gorgeous. Unfortunately she passed a couple of years ago. I still remember her as Chong's mom in "Up In Smoke", where Strother Martin steals the scene with "that Finkelstein Shit Kid" line. Sounded like he botched the line but it sounded funny so they left it in.
@hajune Yeah Right, Mae West Said it A Long time Before Monroe Said Than. They just change the words, It was Come up Sometime & See Me? Mae West said to Cary Grant on 2 of her Movies"I'm No Angel" & "She Done Him Wrong" Both in The 1930's! SO I'M RIGHT & YOU'RE WRONG, NUB!
@thephotoplayer no, it wasnt. at least that was never the intention. they never made any admonition of that. its up to the eyes of the viewer. thats just your own interpretation. your attitude and the attitude of today. people are too obsessed with sex today. they think everything is about sex. it is, only if you want it to be. control yourself, please.
@bigblondman1 Uh, were you the commercial's producer? The underlying sexual theme is so obvious, it could be lost only on a self-righteous boor. How dare you excoriate someone for stating the perfectly obvious! Marketers in the 60s weren't born out of Jesus' asshole.
in contrast. the photoplayer wrote to me a agreed that he was wrong for seeing it that way. talk to him.its you who are the ***hole for insulting me and criticising my interpretation of the commercial . i was there. yes, there was sexual suggestion by her from her look and persona but not in the vulgar way as you believe. it was a classier time. something you obviously dont understand and appreciate. no i was not the producer. neither were you. so your remarks are only magnify your ignorance.
No kidding. Edie was drop dead GORGEOUS. I had my first boy-girl thing over Edie in the 60's. Unfortunately she owed her late husband's massive IRS debt and had to take whatever bones were thrown her way. She was mis-used and abused by casting directors most of her career. Never as big a star as she should have been.
yes no doubt!! not to many gals of to day would do such a thing like taking on a debt that massive...but it was a diffrent mind set back in them days!!
I grew up watching these commercials! I had a wave of nostalgia and sadness today when I heard she had just passed in the hospital just a few blocks from where I currently live.
Such a talent with singing, acting, and comedy...and she was a beauty AND a beautiful person....May God hold you in the palm of his hand, Edie, and reunite you with your husband, Ernie, and daughter....With love from me....
She was 38 here,I believe. Even when I was 10, I could tell she was something! She endured the loss of a husband and daughter to car crashes, and court room battles over her step kids, stuggles to pay her husbands huge debts.a fighter and hard worker.
She makes me want to take up smoking cigars! JK...

Edie did numerous commercials for Muriel, trying to pay off husband Ernie Kovac's debt to the IRS. From what I have read, she did it.

Such a talented woman. Embodying and subverting the bombshell, at once.
Who says that generation was stodgy? They just knew how to get stuff subtly past the censors instead of puking it all out for shock value.
