  • "Fuck it, the laws of physics don't apply to me. I'm Jet Li, BITCH!!!"

  • interesting how to fly XD...

  • people are fucked up in Ancient times two of them are really attacking him and the other two are just waving their swords LMFAO

  • Isaac Newton didn't live in China bitch, his theories didn't carry any weight there :)

    .

(get it, "weight") hahah i crack myself up....

  • lesson #1 in this movie: you gotta go for style points...

  • Beautiful beyond words

  • эта сцена в фильме мне особо нравится!!! :)

  • The Emperor grows suspicious of Nameless when he described how easily he beat Sky. The Emperor knew Sky was pretty much an unbeatable martial arts expert.

  • look at the 4 guys fighting starting from 1:36. they are just doing those competition moves in empty air. LOL

No wonder why in real life they don't try to play like kids. One hit and you are down. :D

Gotta admit though, this movie is a art piece.

  • And it's pretty strange that don't don't get wet at allwith all that rain xD

  • 2000 years ago gravity was an adolescent with hormonal problems xDD

  • I cant find this movie in full on the net :(

  • @sugmegpls lol it was on last night.

  • @sugmegpls tehparadox(DoT)com/forum/f89/hero-2002-720p-bluray-dts-x264-don-1538245/

  • this is the only movie that wire fighting actually looks good in

  • that translation is wrong

  • This sensational piece is just sublime to watch,

    congenial in any condition.

  • This music makes me want to cry its so great

  • PERMISSION TO EGG

  • Totally lame! There was an awesome part to this where the music played that you trashed!

  • @KiRiBaTi1990 the reason they put it at the beginning because they mention later on how sky considered himself without equal, so he lost intentionally to help nameless get closer to the emperor.

  • very inspirational scene..

  • it is said further in the movie that sky lives and that he lost the fight on purpose, so if anyone thinks otherwise you are wrong = ]

  • a lot of people seem to make fun of gravity in this scene... but if u understood what it means in the b&w fighting scene, it is not that strange...

the anti-gravity scene is depicted to be a mental duel between Nameless & Sky, not in the real world, thus it is okay i suppose.

  • @DieAlptraume the ani-gravity and "flying" isnt so much as its them fighting in their mind so much as its a Wu Xia flick. Wu Xia (Martial Chivalry) is a fantasy world called Jiang Hu the characters inhabit and are able to "fly" or leap tall buildings in a single bound, its fiction. something alot of western audiances have been able to grasp and make fun of it. its about as real as a marvel or dc comic book movie.

  • ahhhh its go! LOL!

  • So who wants to see

Donnie Yen as Ip Man vs Jet Li as Huo Yuan Jia / Fok Yuen Gap?

    EPIC BATTLE

  • Comment removed

  • Xie Xie XyoojXiong

  • the flying through the air brings me back childhood memories of the super old wire-fu chinese folklore

  • donnie yen didnt lose.. if you remember, he allowed him to win.

  • Fuck gravity!!!

  • I'm still waiting for the day that Donnie defeats Jet.

  • @ssj5kakarotto we all are

  • oooh! I just love this part. I know just a little bit of Tai Chi but i always practice with Chinese instrumental music.

  • Donnie Yen is just awesome with that spear. Too bad he had to lose.

  • T.T oh no...donnie lost....i was rooting for him

  • jet li is so god damn fast

  • search for this this video - fine example of playing the instrument (Chinese 7 string zither) ...

    "Tao Chu-Shen - Guqin"

  • This entire scene is so damn artistic!

  • there is a shoot of this fight in the trailer that is not in this extended version :(

  • best scene i have ever seen in any movie

music played on guqin is mesmerizing (i think its flowig water 流水)

  • wait what the hell where did the first guy go look at 1:17 then 1:19 he is gone

  • the spear playing is simply mesmerising...beautiful. One of the best.! Donnie have done justice to chinese art of spear

  • @woodkey1 you should take a look at "The Odd Couple" made in 1979 with Sammo Hung and Lau Kar Wing. Contains some of the greatest scenes with the Qiang and Dao, at least in my opinion

  • watched the vid clip and its very fun and entertaining to watch. the choregraph is nice too. but i still like donnies play. thanks!

  • @arman1699 I agree Odd Couple is tha shit . Sammo NEVER disappoints with tha spear.

  • so...where the hell is GRAVITY

  • the movement both of them is perfection;-)

  • You know it's funny. When I was younger and saw this when it first came out, I was intruiged by it and got it on dvd eventually cause I knew someday when I got a little older I would understand this movie more and see it's beauty. Now that I'm a little older and wiser several years later I rly appreciate and love this movie. The instrument from 0:55-0:59 is so beautiful, peaceful and powerful in a subtle way. Do we have a soundtrack for it? Anyway, I love this movie. Let it live on forever.

  • @23slayerfan

There is indeed official soundtrack for this masterpiece, you can find the songs here on YouTube. Search "At the Chess Court" I believe that's the name of the piece.

  • Whoa!!! 7:26 very dramatic!

  • any one know what is the name of the the musik instrument what the old man plays?

  • Lyre

  • @XyoojXiong hehe no thats a Gu Qin.

  • @XyoojXiong I apologize, perhaps it is translated and referred to as a lyre in west..

  • @XyoojXiong

i have it already thx :D

  • @XyoojXiong

    Guqin or Qin

  • @XyoojXiong Ummmmm... I'm not sure it's a lyre. A Lyre is more like a harp. This is a Koto I believe.

  • @XyoojXiong I don't think that is a Lyre... A lyre is more like a harp. This is a Koto or Gu Zeng. Koto and Gu Zeng are basically the same thing. If I am wrong, someone please tell me. :)

  • @XyoojXiong Never mind. I looked it up, it's a Guqin. They are all very similar though.

  • @XyoojXiong Its called the "Gugin" or "Qin"

  • @XyoojXiong Its called the "Gugin" or "Qin"

  • @XyoojXiong not Lyre...It's GuZheng

  • @XyoojXiong isnt gu quin?

  • @JAGUARDRUIDA that's a much larger instrument, isn't it? more strings too.

  • @XyoojXiong actually, isnt it the Gu qin 古琴?

  • thx my frend

  • @Markus2976 Qin (source: IMDB)

  • @Markus2976

    lute

  • @Markus2976 Das Ding heisst Guqin. Ich habe kürzlich eine gekauft. Gib ts nur in China zu kaufen.

  • @Markus2976 Hier ist eine nette Einführung schaab-hanke.de/publikationen/Schaab-Hanke_Eine_kleine_Einfuehrung_in_das_Spiel_auf_der_Qin.pdf

  • @Markus2976 Guqin

  • @Markus2976 Guqin.

  • @Markus2976 Guqin.

  • @Markus2976 Qin, or Guqin.

  • @Markus2976 nah its called a guqin mate

  • @Markus2976 it's called 古琴 (Guqin) it has a great tone, search it up =)

  • @Markus2976 The instrument is called a Guqin, not a lyre. Also, I think the piece he is playing is "flowing water", I am probably wrong though.

  • @Markus2976 apparently its a " gu zheng" (古筝).

  • @Markus2976 The instrument is called a 古琴 (Gu Qin)

  • @Markus2976 its acutally a Kuqin

  • @Markus2976 It's called Guqin.

  • @Markus2976 I think it's Guqin.

  • @Markus2976 Hello. Gu qin is the name of the music instrument.

  • @Markus2976 Guqin is the name of the instrument

  • @Markus2976 just youtube "guqin" its really difficult to play.

  • i think it's badass how the police respectfully decided to let him go after he beat them. imagine if shit worked like that today.

  • If it still worked like that today criminals would be running loose on the streets.

/ This was a very powerful movie.

  • ахуенно!

  • one of the most beautiful cinematic ever!

  • that aint no chess board!! what a dumb ass subtitle!! the Chinese played Guo

  • The wire fighting in movies like this, and Crouching tiger, hidden dragon is supposed to represent the fantasy of the combat in the story. Real fights don't work like that. A man with a spear has a much better range to beat a man with a sword. The wire style in movies is for the how fantasy of combat. It's an art form and should be seen as such

  • yes the spear is good but if you make one mistake ...............then your range means nothing to a man with a sword at your throat!!!!

  • I dont have a problem with some martial arts movies using a wire but i find it frustrating when ALL of them today are being made this way.

i own the crouching tiger hidden dragon dvd because it had a good story but if i want to watch a good martial arts film i usually look at John Lui or Bruce lee or Chuck norris. I believe its good to have both but all im saying is why do they all have to use a wire today?

Are there any wireless martial art films made anymore?

  • I love this movie, its such a shame that the central message to this movie is so insidious.

  • This is a great movie.

  • I love the beginning of the fight with the seven guys. Even after a fight, both opponents show respect. You don't see that very much nowadays in fights.

  • the emperors face when jet li tells him that broken sword understands him and says he must live is some of the best acting ever from the east. emperor and broken swords acting is superb, donnie and jets fighting is superb.

  • in ancient china they made free style long hair look bad ass

  • This movie has some history behind it, but it is more about the philosophy of martial art or the ultimate form of martial art.

  • Donnie Yen is so badass. I got pissed when he die in Blade 2 and Highlander:End Game.

  • omg innit! i was so pissed in blade 2, and this aswell.

all he does is play chess, then have an (epic) fight, then die! >[

  • This is extended? I remember all of this being in the movie.

  • well the part where donnie gives the musician some stick money (:D) that is the extension I guess! XD

  • I only just watched the film again on youtube a few days ago here on youtube so forgive me for knowing this, I don't study films lol.

But I believe the only extended bit is from 2:16-2:32, where it shows Sky giving the old man some money or whatever they are, and then walking towards the steps in slow motion.

  • i watched this movie because jet li is amazing, but mainly bcoz i love donnie yen

and all he does is play chess and then die o.O

    LOL

    gd movie tho (Y)

  • I Love The Spear Dude! Was Guttered Tho Coz This Was His Only Scene!

  • His name is Donnie Yen. He is a legend, he has done loads of movies.

  • BTW this movie doesn't make much sense in English

just think romeo and Juliet ( the Leo version ) translated

  • i wish i knew the name of the instrument and the song

  • the instrument is the Guqin, the song is one of the track from the soundtrack of the film by Tan Dun: hould be the track #7 "In the Chess Court"...

  • wow mate,,i dont know how to thank you my friend.

much thanks and may peace be with you

ps i just got back from mma training my body is killing me

  • Hi, how can I get the soundtrack of the movie?

    where can I download it?

please, helpe me! I want those songs really bad!

  • Try Frostwrite (but it's illegal i think)

    or LimeWire

    or EasyMP3download

  • THNX!!

  • It should be on the original soundtrack. look amazon or just torrent it.

  • The seven masters should be more stronger than they portrayed - after all they are the best soldiers to guard the Emperor

  • @WhyYouStealMyName

maybe this scene shows Sky's fighting capabilities are so much better than the Empire's elite fighters.

  • sky is so cool shame he had to be defeated

  • where is this chess house?

  • somewhere within the Qin state of Bronze age China(I think)

  • but where was it filmed?

  • d'oh! sorry I don't know

  • Amazing entrance of Jet Li

  • why was the best fight the first one? they should have saved it for last.

  • @brainwasher9876

    i thought the same thing

  • @brainwasher9876 yeah, this is the best fight scene in the film. also the first. weird.

  • lol bending swords that possible?

  • yes. swords in those days were made of bronze anyway, a fairly malleable metal.

  • WOoooo ALL HAIL JET LI

  • intratable

  • Donnie Yen vs Jet Li

  • my fav part of hero

  • yea mine too

  • epic

  • china is better than hollywood.......

  • both jet and donnie have the best forms in

wushu~ thats why they look so tight in their fight scenes

  • Donnie Yen & Jet Li are Awsome, almost all of their Battles are EPIC!!! ^^

  • actually, the original directer is zhang yimou. when the film came to the u.s it was going to be cut considerabely. but tarentino offered to put his name on it to keep it from being cut so drastically. the company agreed and thats why most people think that tarentino originally directed it. but he actually had nothing to do with the filming at all.

  • It WAS cut badly compared to the original. Plus a bad translation.

  • yah i agree. but some scenes i'm glad they took out. like the scene when moon tries to kill herself. it just makes her charector seem so ignorant. but thats just me.

  • This scene was awesome. Even better in the cinema in all its detail.

  • this scene is so arty - and the muzik backs it up very well

  • actually, the color's represent the different levels of truth through out the story. red is the deception, the first story, blue being the perceived truth, in the emperor's eyes, once he figures out jet li's character is lying, and white, what the character's are wearing near the end, being the actual truth of what happened in the story. Green was for the emperor's flashback. The director states he likes using green as the color of memory.

  • so basically, red is deception, blue is perceived truth, green is memory, white is truth.

  • donnie yen rocks!

  • There are some images on the trailer about the fight between Sky and these seven warriors that don´t appear in that "Full Extended Version":

    watch?v=jhPH2EZUtHk

    1:31

    1:53

  • thats wird. i'm sure i saw them in the cut version. why arent they in the uncut.

  • that was it only sky giving him money

  • these fight scenes are pure poetry, just amazing how they fight -seems like dance, like something beyond everything we know or understand. jet li a great actor!

  • Fantastic movie!!!!!!!

  • movies like this make people say the most bollocks things, yes its great but some of these comments...

  • Whoa... those seven agents realized they had no way of defeating Donnie Yen so they bowed with respect, stepped aside and allowed him to leave... this is so very very cool!

  • its the combat etiquette.

  • plz help guys:) thanks alot:)

  • hi, i have a assignment on this movie..i have two questions left for the assignment? 1st :

what do the colors represent and why did the director chose this color 2nd question is who is the hero of this movie except jet li and why?

  • Assignment? what course are you taking? how come schools are taking this movie so seriously? I can answer you the second question. The real hero is the one who defeats or conquers his own self, by defeating the desire to take revenge, and choose peace instead. The true hero, is the person who conquers and controls himself. That is the inner war every one has to face.

  • I'm suspecting that you have already finished your assignment, but I would like to take a stab at your questions.

    1) The colors used in the movie represented a different emotion that the characters were feeling at the time, for instance: When Flying Snow caught Broken Sword having sex with Moon the characters in the scene were wearing red to represent anger.

    2) The real hero was Broken Sword because he looked past his revenge to see that the emperor was trying to unite China.

  • Such a great movie. One of my facorite scenes.

  • r they extended??????????????

  • yes but if you haven't seen the EDIT VERSION itz hard to tell...

  • remarkable scene
