  • Fantastically done! Love the video!

I'm also curious about using Super Sculpy. I have been using normal clay, and for small detail, that crashed and burned fast. I'm trying to create a model female on a small scale and I can make each part individually pretty well. My issue was when I had to stick those parts together, it went horribly wrong...

I was curious as to whether Super sculpy is any better to press together? I had to apply too much force on my last one, and it all went misshappen :(

  • @Majevshadowsong

sorry for not responding sooner the way i sculpt is sculpting the piece and then cutting the sculpture up. it just makes it alot easier getting the anatomy correct. and as far a clay goes if you want something a bit harder try sculpey firm its not the normal super sculpey color (its grey) but it holds the detail alot better when your handling your piece.

thanks for the question and if you have any other questions feel free to ask i will try to get to them quicker next time

  • may ask ,what job are you doing beacose i am dental technician and i think i know tha tools :P very good job! maybe i will try

  • @paffys

i bought these off ebay and yes they are dental tools for carving wax dentures i think. thanks for the comment i really appreciate it :)

  • what did you use for the teeth? regular grey clay?

  • @MrDocRogers

the teeth are made from sculpey firm which is grey and the rest is super sculpey

    thanks for the comment

  • you think i can you use play dough to practice till i get better

  • @staone1

sure you could but u will get better results if you use real clay

    thanks for the question :)

  • @johns6160 If I want to add additional parts to pieces i've already baked, can I bake the baked pieces again to harden the new pieces?

  • @swampygoose

yeah i do this all the time if i have a piece with lots of detail and i dont want to ruin it while sculpting something else on it i just bake it. i have not had any problems myself so you should be fine

    hope this helps ya

  • @swampygoose Pre heat the oven for the first bake. Bake your first piece for only like 5 or 8 minutes. Do each segment like this and you will lower you risk of burning the piece!

  • Hey I would like to hire you, to make me a bear face? whats ur email?? or email me at mankew at yahoo dot com thank you tty soon

  • ooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOO XD

  • Yes, but what tools?

  • @sakay05kn

dental wax carving tool you can find them on ebay

  • What is the name of the material that you used to do this?

  • @sakay05kn

the clay is called super sculpey

thanks for the comment! : )

  • nice video thank you. Is there a reason you built the clay up is small pieces / strips of clay rather than using a big ball to mould in to shape?

  • @LogoSupermarket1

thanks logo im glad you like the video. they say there are two types of sculptors ones thats add clay bit by bit and ones that add alot of clay and shape it out with tools and there hands. i have always sculpted this way but i think the reason for it is the pieces i sculpt are so small it gives me more control in the long run. if i see a part of the sculpture that i think is not the right shape or size i just add clay till i like what i see. thanks for the question! : )

  • @johns6160 thank you for the response. I am about to make a few models to help me illustrate a children's book, will make it easier to see the characters from all angles. One more question... when you bake the sculpey is that it hardened and finished or is it still malleable?

  • Doesnt the clay dry quick? Or does it not dry quick? I am thinking of getting some to make my pokeball charms. Keep up with the great work. :D

  • @Jeffa101

    hi jeff

    thanks for the comment

the clay i use is super sculpey and it never dries unless you bake it in the oven. i have stuff i had sculpted 2 to even 3 years ago that i havent baked. you can find it at any hobby shop or craft store.

    i hope this helps you

    thanks agian! :)

  • @johns6160

    Your Welcome.

Ok thanks for the help. Ill let you know how they come out. Would it be alright to galez the clay once it has baked in PVA Glue? It's kinda like a glaze in some way. lol :)

  • @Jeffa101

its funny you ask about putting glue on a finished sculpture because i have tried this myself and i would say dont do it. sometimes you get this white cloudy color that covers the glue im guessing its just what happens when the glue dries.

    ttyl jeff! :)

  • @johns6160 Ok won't lol. Ill just have to get the glaze then lol. Anyway thanks for the help and keep up with the great work :D.

  • @Jeffa101

no problem jeff glad i could help and if you have any more questions feel free to ask.

  • Awesome!

  • Wow this is good john!! Can't believe i missed this one, lol Just watched you do them teeth twice!!! So is this what you mean by sketch? looks like more then that to me =D

  • Love the video! Thanks for posting it. I was wondering what you do about the wire sticking out. Do you just bake it with it in there? Can you get it out some how?

  • Hi I love your sculpt! Can you please tell me, if I want to make a PVC figure more muscular, can I apply a layer of Super Sculpey (flesh/skin toned) over the whole body of the figure and let it be without baking? I'm new in the craft please forgive me if it's a silly question. Thank you!

  • what is that tool you use, it looks like a flat rounded tool. is that right? where did you get it?

  • @vashug

i bought them from ebay i just types in wax carving tools and they come in a lot of 12 diffrent tools
