Yeah I had it too and those grey messed up ghaphics on the buildings scared the sh** out of me as a kid! And I believe you can run out of life and die in the actual game.

It's actually a NES adaptation of the manga Fist of the North Star. I don't know where "Fist of Thor" came from, but that's the name the ROM goes by on the Internet. This ROM says 1986 on the title screen, but the game wasn't released in Japan until '87, and '89 in the USA. This also looks different from how it does in the actual cartrige, which also says '87, so my guess is this is some kind of early tech demo.

my god i played this on my nesten emulator about a year ago,and it is just plain bizzare,the level never seems to end and just involves jumping and kicking and punching these crazy guys

That's what I'm guessing. It could be a hack or a bootleg, but I found it on a rom site, so I played it and was in awe at how bad this is.

i think the reason they put a health bar in to give you that adrenaline boost you need to finish the game, and then you find out that you dont die and say "what the fuck"
