I just bought this head, and 2 TC 210 cabs! I have modded them to be stacked vertically. It sounds incredible! I definately recommend the head for most gigging situations. at 4 ohms it pushes 350 watts, which is usually more than enough if you have P.A. support. I will be posting video of my new rig soon on my channel "jasonbass311"
Hey Glenn, do you think this head would work well on top of two Avatar cabs, one is a 410 at 1000 watts and a 212 at 500 watts. I called Avatar and they said never turn the amp up past half. They said I could blow my speakers while under-powering them, should I turn up p[ast half. What do you think? I know Traynor makes a DynaBass 800, but I don't care to carry that 40 pd head around. Also, what brand of bass is that that you're playing ? Sound good!
@TheBadAssKiller Wow that should be an incredibly loud rig. Only thing I would worry about is an impedance mis-match by using 2 cabs. You'd probably only need the 2x12 I'd say. That is an Ibanez Sound Gear.
@extremevideopro Well, my cabs are each 8 ohms. So 4 ohms is perfect. But I called the service guy at Yorkville today and he recommended the 800H to power my cabs. I know you say the 300 head is enough to power any club, but he said he wasn't sure it would. There again, he said the 800H would do the job. And for your bass, That's got to be a really old SR series bass! I don't remember a slanted pickup in any SR bass.
hey thanks bro, well, I am a demonstrator for them. I'm not new to Traynor though. I had been using their top of the line K-4 amp for about a year before I started doing these demos for them. I can tell you one thing I do know about their products, they are very well made and they don't skimp when it comes down to speakers, electronics, or even the wood used to build their amps & cabs. They do a really good job IMO.
I've run into many guitarists that don't have a fundamental understanding about the relationship between amp modeling and tone coloration. I read these posts about them being disappointed when they try to run their modeler in line with their tube amp and don't understand why it sounds bad. Using a keyboard amp like the K-4 is genius as it doesn't color the tone. Good job as always and keep up the good work.
Another excellent demo, Glenn. I don't see a mic on the cab, so I'm assuming we're hearing the direct out? Nice bass playing, too. The amp looks really solid and yet not too heavy. I'm assuming the speakers are phase aligned? I'm wondering how this amp would sound doing really deep lows, like in a Reggae context? Pardon the ramble, again, thanks for this and all your top-quality demos.

@TheBadAssKiller Yes that bass is about 15 years old now. Those are not stock pick-ups. I changed those out with Bartolini's.

Thanks Aiden, yes I recorded this direct. This amp and the extension push very deep lows. I'm sure it would be for any type of music.
