Honestly I think its just a demonstration. From Jet Li's and Jackie Chan's home videos and NOT the MOVIES, you can see a lot of differences in the two. I believe this chick is on the Chinese National Wushu performance team and is just going over her routine because it looks too artsy to be meant for fighting.

This is the Wu Shu version of a snake form. Traditional Kung Fu forms DO NOT run to generate power. At least in this form/style they kept most of the body swaying/movements to generate power to the fighting applications.

Isn't there a bizarre amount of hand/finger conditioning that snake practioner's need to use? Correct me if Im wrong here.

This is well executed and she is skilled, but it looks like standardized wushu. Hand structure in her finger strikes is not optimized to transmit energy and withstand opposing force. Snake is a qi-cultivating and very "mystical" style, but look at how this form over-extends the joints, and no six harmonies here. No coverage of the pressure points, arms and legs flailing in big movements. Where's the fa jin? Teaching this for fighting is dangerous to the student!

I like this! it is an excellent demonstration of southern style movements, not sure why people are commenting saying she has no power and slating the stances.

a) how would your girlfriend fair against this girl, and b) what skill or knowlege do you possess to even make unpleasant comments on this beautiful artist.

Not too sure unless your girlfriend is (no disrespect) a russian shot putter turned mma. the movements look gracefull but look @ the speed of the hands blocking any attacks coming in at the same time as repeatedly striking at the eyes there would be a lot of blindness going on in seconds! I'd be interested to see your gf fighting or demonstrating this power you have so much faith in. I mean I don't know if your saying the snake girl is just a wimp or your gf is immensely hard. is she on youtube?

What you wrote is pure theory - sticking their hands out doesn't make anybody a fighter, no matter how deadly it looks. So yeah, I'm saying the girl in the video can't fight.

If I'm ever going to put a video of my gf on youtube, it is going of her doing something she is demonstrably good at - I alluded to something in my other post. I guess it can be called kung-fu too. ;-)

So is this the exact routine that Helen Liang does, if so I would only have to view one DVD not two...There are no slight differences?

by exact routine i meant the movements, layout, order and all is exactly the same. there are a few different moves in this one, for example :39 to :46, (not sure what style that is) but for the most part it is emei snake as done by helen liang.

helen also has better applications. the one shown here was kinda stupid.
