  • how come a calf slicer or bicep slicer has never been used to win an mma match? is it just a pain submission as in it won't break bones or tear any ligaments?

  • @hallmonitor98 Ivan Menjivar beat Joe Lauzon with a calf slicer. If you look at the video though Lauzon seemed to tap because he couldn't get out of it and not because he was worried about a break or long term damage.

  • @hallmonitor98 Not sure about a calf slicer but IM pretty surea bicep slicer can snap your arm

  • I hope you know that Cissero makes these "submissions" up.

  • Although I'll add I do try to stay tight to my opponent. When I rock back, I want to have the wrist behind the calf (applying the pressure), but have the same arm's shoulder as close to the knee as possible, so there's no wiggle room. Turning to the side of the free leg allows you to limit the opponent's movement, you can stay heavy on his thigh and apply all the pressure to the knee/calf that you want.

  • I actually use this, and not from a standing position. Works when I'm having trouble passing the guard, if I can break a closed guard and can't get passed, often I can set up the wrist behind the knee when trying to turn my opponont. If they roll opposite to try to pull me back into full guard, it's simple to step over the leg and rock back into the crusher.

This is my favorite variant on the slicer/crusher, because it's the easiest for me to hit, and I can do it from a dominant position.

  • if he drove his right need through he has mount and your arm is trapped.

  • I dunno guys, there is alot wrong with this:

    (1) if the guy on the bottom used a proper sweep technique, he could sweep you before you bent down to arm underhook the leg

    (2) I would never hook a knee unless I also had a chance to grab an ankle, or used my hook to bring his knee (and thus ankle) into range of my hand

    (3) he could heel kick you in the face with his other foot when you bent down to arm underhook the leg

I like the principle, but some things concern me.

  • How is this a calf slicer? This looks like it attacks the knee.

  • You guys rock. That was the simplest and most clear explanation of this technique I have seen yet. Keep them coming!!!

  • Simple and effective! Nice sub!

  • Thanks for posting!

I can't believe this is the ONLY calf slicer video on youtube.

I must say, this technique can really catch someone off guard. :D

  • Try looking for calf crusher.

  • oops. nevermind.
