It doesn't show up in the video, but during the Wurm section of Starship Trooper, Chris' bass pedals were causing cement dust to trickle down through the openings in the drop ceiling onto the stage...excellent.
thanks... this is the best sounding yes live i've heard in a long long time, and steve and the boys really are very together. perharps it's the size of the hall, they can hear each other.
would be great to hear the complete tune of america and starship trooper.
I'm sure if Jon were answering, he'd say, "You certainly can hear the songs in their entirety, on the Key's To Ascension CD!" At this time, they were playing a lot together given they were in the midst of finishing KTA2.
Many thanks to siskokidd for posting this video. I was lucky enough to attend this in-store appearance of the classic Yes lineup and they really rocked. While getting their autographs following the performance, I asked Chris if he really got his nickname (the Fish) from spending so much time in the bathtub. Before he could answer, Rick Wakeman jumped in and said "That's nothing...you should see the scuba gear".
It was quite a talkfest for them, wasn't it? So many people saying things and asking questions, plus them sitting so close together. Listening to them respond, it seemed as if they were deliberately looking for an opportunity to cross up the person sitting next to them. I remember the feeling of, "Holy crap! I'm shaking Rick Wakeman's hand!"
A slow start, but at 5:40 they kick in with one of the finest performances of Starship Trooper (I think the Wurm movement) ever! Howe and Wakeman are both in top form.
There's a 55 minute version of this floating around in trading circles.
