I do eat hamburgers and bacons and all that good stuff. I dont plan stop eatting either. I know what i am eatting. But I do know, If It was one of my cows, & I considered it a pet. I would never eat or kill it. but we gotta eat somehow. but CUTE COW!
That's the problem, they are not treated with respect. Have you seen the footage from slaughterhouses?
Beating calves to death with crowbars as the mother yells. Gutting pigs while they're alive (the screams are very human like, oddly. After all, they're smarter than dogs so surely know whats going on). Stabbing dairy cattle with pitch forks. Grinding up chicks while they're alive (one little guy really tried to stay alive, and tried to crawl out of the grinder, they pushed him back in).
@itsinthesink Cows are natural grazing animals. Free roaming cows eat grass and can still be used for milk (no harm is done to them). Pigs used to be wild, and yes we do use them just for consumption, but what's your point? That's like saying it's OK to murder children because they're a byproduct of human creation.
Animals are not "things" put on earth for "us". We have brains, maybe we should use them.
Abortion has been around for thousands of years as well. Your parents missed the train on that one, though.
If you like eating burgers and have no problem with creatures suffering for it, go ahead. But humans are advanced to the point where we shouldn't be killing animals and eating them.
I used to eat meat, I used to not care, but now I understand the awful conditions in the so called "farms" where animals with hearts and feelings are tortured, each one with the potential to be a friend and to have a life. Animals just like Herman here are killed every day. People need to speak out about the abuse, I know I have. Herman is so lucky and really adorable...
@ArcherGymnast I didn't fight my way to the top of the food chain to be a vegetarian. Humans are born to kill and eat animals. i can agree that the conditions these animals live under are bad though.
Seeing this makes me to never want to eat meat ever again... but i don't know where to start! I moved to a country recently where everyone eats meat and pork with every meal, it's almost impossible.
People who don't realize the necessity of farming and animal consumption for the continued existence of humanity are poorly educated. As the population continues to grow, animals such as poultry and rabbits will become more important for protein as they don't require much space and reproduce at a rapid rate. Humans didn't rise to the top of the food chain by living solely on plants and plant proteins.
@pritijivarma people can survive perfectly well on chicken and fish, in moderation. my diet is mostly carbohydrate-based. I am 6 foot tall and weigh 70 kgs so I am perfectly healthy. mammalian meat is very fatty and unpalatable, for me.
@MuonRay I for one will absolutely not eat chicken. In slaughter houses they are treated worse than other animals, and are some of the smartest animals there ( having said that I would like to add that intelligence doesn't make animals' lives be worth more or less). As Jane Goodall said "Despite having been bred as domestic slaves, these animals and individuals in their own right."
@ArcherGymnast I am no advocate of intensive farming of animals in cages, however humans have long since exhausted the natural food chians of the earth so some animals must be raised on farms to supply humans with food(or else billions would starve). Theoretically a population of 2 billion humans is the maximum the ecosystems on earth can maintain at a stable rate; people think global warming is bad, we have no idea what the exhaustion of fish stocks or transforming land into greenbelts can do.
@ArcherGymnast In all fairness, the future of life on earth is grim. the human race is overpopulating the earth by about 80% in most areas. all animals are now influenced by humanity either directly or indirectly. plastic molecules have been found in whale blubber, radioactive plutonium has been found in deep sea vents(naturally it could'nt occur there). moreover humans have transformed most of the earth's habitable land into what is essentially a giant feedlot, the disturbances are huge.
@ArcherGymnast all we humans can do is keep building our technology, start colonising mars and perhaps give the earth a second chance at survival. global warming aside I think their is reasonable chance that humanities influence on earth in terms of non-biodegradable bi-products may render all life on earth severly mutated or infertile to the point of planetary extinction within the next 1000 years for all multicellular life. in 1000 years there may only be bacteria on earth.
@ArcherGymnast the price humans will have to pay for the progress of civilizaition will be very dear; all complex life on earth will either be in zoos or extinct in another 100-200 years.
@MuonRay Are you fucking serious? Higher animal? So you've never had bacon, hamburgers, or ham? I don't eat sheep, but pigs and cows are iconic parts of our food chain.
i have cows too. i had 43 cows till we sold 10 of them...mostly steers and yes they prob went to the slaughter house. all the others are heifers or cows but one steer were gonna slaughter for personal meat. his name is T-bone
@coz1843 my steer wasn't slaughtered inhumanely. he was a 4h steer and it was instantaneous and he didn't suffer. not all of them are put out in one way
cows are amazing. i love and respect them. innocent creatures. they should be celebrated ALIVE, not as a burger on a plate. look how many years of joy this sweet has brought to one family. and to think it could have been a burger, eaten in ten minutes and forgotten forever. let's evolve, everyone. evolve to compassion and peace. let's stop eating and hurting these animals. they've suffered too long.
How did you save herman form the slaughterhouse . did you like steal it. Did they let you take it. I find it so beautiful that you care for this animal.

They are lovely and I have a video of them Rory & Redmond. I can totally relate to your cow & hope that he lives into a grand old age. cheers
@jeneanewendling I've wondered this. After you get a pet cow do you still eat beef? Or do you not care for it anymore? I can only imagine that once you get emotionally attached to your cow all you see is his/her face on the burger you're eating.
Very nice, i see you take pleasure in being with your animals ...so do I, their care isn't a chore to me...it's time together..I love my animals too. May St Francis guide you to his stairs to pet heaven when it's your time to leave this earth so you can be where us animal lovers go ...God bless you.....(.this is why I don't eat meat, who says animals don't have feelings) ....:-(
oh, man. i literally just finished a mcdonalds cheeseburger (yeah they're not very good but cheap and right across the street) and now i'm seeing this video. it's making me feel bad.
herman is cool. cows can be very very friendly and loyal companions. can they be potty trained? i would think so, they seem like pretty intelligent beasts.
The animal is fixed. Yeah it is amazing how cows will act. We have a small dairy and many of them our hooked on cookies and mints. I take it that the animal had somthing wrong with him when he was born. For one a calf dosn't go to the slaughterhouse and secondly for 3 years old he is tiny. Do you know what was wrong with him?
@judderjones I understand that there are certain proteins or enzymes in the mother's milk that are vital to the growth and development of the calf and without them the growth of the calf will be stunted, which is why calves should not be put up for auction until at least a month or two old, because these babies will be relatively useless for breading and sadly the slaughterhouse is where most of them end up. Herman is a blessed bovine not to be on the dinner plate and in an obviously good home
This video here just proves the FACT that cows are loving, beautiful Animals that feel and want love!! All these heartless people who abuse and torture them and treat them as an object---just a slab of meat.
Yeah Riding Steers are very cool they love getting the attention and proudly strutting with their trainer on their back . This video shows, they get bored and like to do the same things that people do with horses. (Escpecially the boys.)
this video gives me so much hope. he's a beautiful little guy. i preach and preach about the countless benefits of a vegan diet, but really, the only proof people need is to watch this video and see his individuality for themselves...
@ugotpimp I've been to a slaughter house, on a field trip as a kid, and you are partially right. In the beginning, when they were killing, and gutting the cows, I was disgusted. But, later in the tour, when the skin, blood and guts were removed, and I I saw the lean cuts of meat, my stomach, which doesn't have eyes, got hungry, my mouth began to water, and till this day, I don't remember what happens in a slaughter house. Only that beef tastes good.
People wouldn't eat so much meat if they had to raise & slaughter their own animals themselves. I think cows are smart & cute, and are very under-estimated.
@aintnocitygirl you should ask him to let you join the ffa or 4h club at school and get involved with showing livestock, you can show any kind of breeding cattle ,bulls or heifers which you can show for several years and can be beef or dairy,I opted for steers when i was young its an amazing experience i wish every kid could have, not to mention you can earn scholarship money, and the many values it will teach you, since its not likely a question of affordability i couldnt imagine a parent saying no
@ofcelticblood I'm reading it right now. It is SUCH an eye opener, just horrifying. It has proof of not only inhumane killing methods of the animals, sadistic workers (and the firing of the ones who want to stop the cruelty), but the amount of filth and disease that comes with the meat and the deliberate neglect of consumer health--it's just the most revolting account of the truth. No one would ever feed chicken filled baby food to their babies again....:D
was that a dog running around in a circle while the horse was lunging? I couldnt tell if it was a dog, cat , or rabbit... or what..But CUTE COW!! I love how it knows its name. @itsinthesink That's very simple of you. It explains a lot.
Fire bad. Meat good.
dexafaust 6 months ago
@itsinthesink I never said don't do it. In fact I said do whatever you want.
You're the one who jumped into this video saying "when will you eat it?".
Nobody else was talking about killing animals until you brought it up.
dexafaust 6 months ago
That being said, I'm not trying to make others feel guilty, I just suffer when I see animals suffer. To each his own.
dexafaust 6 months ago
That's the problem, they are not treated with respect. Have you seen the footage from slaughterhouses?
Beating calves to death with crowbars as the mother yells. Gutting pigs while they're alive (the screams are very human like, oddly. After all, they're smarter than dogs so surely know whats going on). Stabbing dairy cattle with pitch forks. Grinding up chicks while they're alive (one little guy really tried to stay alive, and tried to crawl out of the grinder, they pushed him back in).
dexafaust 6 months ago
@itsinthesink
They eat dogs in China and Korea. And some places serve cat. On the other hand, eating cow is unspeakable in India.
Humans by nature, are violent and selfish. Some lack empathy (you) and can not imagine what it would be like to be a suffering animal.
dexafaust 6 months ago
@itsinthesink So you have every "right" to kill living creatures? Why stop at cows? Why not step up to dogs and cats? Maybe kill a couple humans?
I'm not trying to be so hard on you since it's clear you have brain damage, but you really make no sense.
dexafaust 6 months ago
@itsinthesink
OK, at this point it's clear you have no argument and are just resorting to school yard "nuh uh, you are" tactics.
Would you rather be born, kept in a cage and then butchered alive, or never be born at all?
dexafaust 6 months ago
@itsinthesink Cows are natural grazing animals. Free roaming cows eat grass and can still be used for milk (no harm is done to them). Pigs used to be wild, and yes we do use them just for consumption, but what's your point? That's like saying it's OK to murder children because they're a byproduct of human creation.

When the little kid called his name..and he came galloping over so happily..brought a tear to my eye.
This is the love and life cows deserve. They are such doscile affectionate creatures.
I went vegan yesterday. Its people like you that inspire me, everyday. God bless you for rescuing him and I hope he is doing well.
Love, Beverly xx

if slaughterhouses were all downtown with transparent walls wed all be vegetarian within 24 hours.

Only that beef tastes good.

whats a cows life span??? i just adopted one

How did you rescue him? I've been wanting a cow since forever. Cows deserve a lot more credit than they get
gryphonkeen 2 years ago 2
I agree with funkymunkystepho cows are beings deserving of respect, read slaughterhouse by gail eisnitz. They are not killed humanely.
I also agree with Fairy, the music sucks - the video is nice.
ofcelticblood 2 years ago 12
@ofcelticblood I'm reading it right now. It is SUCH an eye opener, just horrifying. It has proof of not only inhumane killing methods of the animals, sadistic workers (and the firing of the ones who want to stop the cruelty), but the amount of filth and disease that comes with the meat and the deliberate neglect of consumer health--it's just the most revolting account of the truth. No one would ever feed chicken filled baby food to their babies again....:D
