When they were still around I was able to order from them their paint panels as the pant panels were not in the box. Huh, my was sealed both the ISS. Odd scale though 1/125.
i got this kit a while ago. it was lucky that the local model shop had one lying beneath a pile of revell apollo 11 kits. he didnt know much about it or the price so i picked it up for £22 (roughly $45)
There is a tamiya shuttle in 1/100 scale which is the closest to this.
Heller went bust a couple of years ago along with Airfix.
British company Hornby rescued Airfix and are now re-issues kits, this has included some re-badged Heller ships.
The Airfix space range is being dusted off for the Apollo 11 anniversary this summer, so you can get a Saturn V 1/144 at a decent price - time to stock up :-)
My local stocks a few space related: kits from Heller; the Ariane rocket, Mir and... one or two others. I think there are five in this 'series'. I just haven't gotten around to picking the other ones up yet.
I did some ref hunting last night and this kit does look to be missing the final solar sails and truss assembly, the last component of which was installed a few days ago on the real thing. I won't be absolutely sure until I get to work on it.
Didn't even know such a kit excisted.. but it sure looks a very interesting kit!! The closest I have to anything remotedly like this is the old 1/72 Airfix Lunar Module.. which (if I can find it) I may get round to build before Christmas, as it'll make a good entry for my clubs annual competition.. Excellent video, very informative, well done!! :)
I have this kit, and I can tell you that you're gonna have a blast building it! I live in a town on the south coast of the UK, and France is only 25 miles away; in the model stores in my area, there is always a large selection of French kits, maybe due to the proximity of France. It's a different kind of modeling experience as opposed to building US kits, one difference being that French kits have extremely detailed instruction sheets. Agree with you about accuracy issues; enjoy building it!!!!
