  • Missed the T-Rex era(too young). But I bought Zinc Alloy(on vinyl, no less) in 1989 and I thought this was one of the better songs on it. Can't understand why that album wasn't popular, a majority of those songs kicked ass.

  • Put your head between two good stereo speakers, get the lyrics and crank up this song just a little, sing along and let me know how good that makes you feel.

  • Don't lay nothing on my jive? ON a certain level Bolan NEVER put out a better song.

  • @DAVWAVE Couldn't agree more. Rapids is one of my all time favourite T.Rex songs. Absolutely timeless. The opening lyric is "Her mama said Clean out your head boy. Don't lay nothing on my child". The man really did lay some boogie on our minds!

  • @andytrex fantastic, Bolan is a guy, that you at least 15 "favorite" songs that you find impossible to rate in desending order.

  • pure magic

  • remember this one, C,88 ,hope u ok angelx

  • 1:09 He looked like a sweet angel!

  • Just found out Bolan used a Dallas Rangemaster to get that crunch on the guitar!!

  • Yiehaaa "agentwild" - I was running around the whole city to get the TANX album, too! I am 51 - now ;) Yiehaaa !!!!

  • Ban "Ads by Google"

  • Great Marc's - Never Heard It This Slow - I Have My Record Player On Mega Fast :) - But This Is Still Brilliant x

  • love it love it love it

  • Best Rex album by a mile in my opinion.

  • still play this loud and proud....awesome

  • One of Marc's best. Tanx is often overlooked in favour of Electric Warrior and The Slider but it's the third part of the trilogy of albums by the best T.Rex line-up. It's a wonderful album which is still as fresh today as it was when I bought it in March 1973. The album was so strong that Marc didn't have to include the recent singles and it stands on its own merit as a pure T.Rex album. "Donna La Folle par T.Rex" kicked off side two of the old LP version. Solid Gold Bolan.

  • friggin marvelous, wish he'd never died

  • t rex always gets your hips movin

  • I love the bass in this song

  • @RReneeElizabeth Steve Currie added massively to the most popular T-Rex sound.

  • magic sound real music

  • th king of Boland woods going electric tanx ...fabulous marc ..Donna à la fole by TREX¡

  • Some of Bolan's best songs were his least known, as this shows (and most of the well-known ones were great). Good to hear it again.

  • Sorry pressed the wrong button, totally agree, awesome song and album Tanx

  • @grantg60 True, about the least known being some of the best.

  • Loved Boley for 40 years now ! Ever since that TOTP performance of Ride A White Swan ! I was watching it with my uncle who called him a " golliwog " . Rapids is DYNAMITE !

  • what does golliwog mean?

  • its a old term used to descibe a black fella

  • 'clean out your toes Rose and go lick some uncooked meat'

absolute childhood favorite rauncy ass tune (:

  • Yes! thanks!

  • Aww, Marc Bolan is THE BEST!!!!!!

  • absolutely brilliant!!!!!!!

  • Great photos! And the song is my favorite.

  • M A R C B O L A N R U L E S !!!

    ...

  • Every note of his guitar solos were charged with a mystical fire!!! They didn't need to be 1000 notes per second to be of 'TRUE GREATNESS'

  • When did you first hear this album and how did you like it at the time?

  • I first heard it in 1974 right after 'Light Of Love' (which was my first T. Rex album) was released. I heard Mott The Hoople singing Bowie's 'All The Young Dudes' and figured T. Rex must be great if Bowie sung about them in his song...so I checked them out and then became a dedicated fan and bought everything T. Rex, Tyrannosaurus Rex and Bolan ever put out. It took about five listens for 'Tanx' to grow on me and it's grown on me more and more everytime I hear it.

  • That is inteesting. Can you say which albums are your favorites overall. If I had to list them, I probably could do it. I am interested how you would rank them. Esp since you have them all.

  • That's pretty tough to do...'Unicorn' blows my mind as does 'A Beard Of Stars' ...the 'Marc' album I have with 'The Children Of Rarn Suite' is fantastic!!! 'The Slider' which includes 'BALLROOMS OF MARS' is phenomenal. 'Tanx' kicks butt. 'Zinc Alloy And The Hidden Riders Of Tomorrow' is one of my favorites (to me because of it's totally spledid, far out, nonsense lyrics).

  • 'Electric Warrior' (which includes 'MONOLITH' which gives me chills) is awesome. Another favorite is 'T. Rex' which takes my mind to a mystically beautiful world that I could just crawl into and live in forever. I love 'Zip Gun', 'Futuristic Dragon', 'Dandy', 'Prophets', 'My People Were Fair', 'Billy Super Duper' and all the compilation albums that include the rare singles. Tyranosaurus Rex, T. Rex, Marc Bolan to me is such ENTERTAINMENT!!!

  • Yes, excellent point.

  • The first scream that leads into the first guitar solo...just about the greatest rock 'n' roll scream I've ever heard. The timing of it was perfect.

  • trextasy done this last night they were awesome

    marc

  • fantastic to hear this again..oh to prance down the high street head to toe in clashing

colours of satin humming the latest TRex single...lovely !

  • This is from when T-Rex was on a roll. I must give Bill, Steve, Mickey and Tony their credit. Marc proved later he missed his producer and band. He was getting totally back on track before his untimely death.

  • Great video my friend, I basically wore this track out on my copy of Tanx.

  • Lovely - I remember buying the album Tanx on its day of release and loving every track - especially Rapids and Broken Hearted Blues. Simple rock n' roll they may be - but no one else sounded anything like this. Cosmic x
