Don't waste your expensive sugar and ginger root on this false recipe! Also, you do not use bakers yeast to carbonate soda! Champagne yeast is used for carbonating soda and it should only be done in plastic bottles to avoid glass bottle grenades. Soda sold in glass bottles has been forced cabonated! Shame on you for telling people to do this!!!!!!
Oh WTF is this chit? I've had enough of this--do you think we're all stupid? Get your lame@ss outta here and put back in the REAL Threadbanger videos!

how can random ppl decide what a channel on youtube should and should not post? it's up to the people that manage said channel to upload what they may as long as it complies with this sites rules..
I actually thought the romper was a cute Idea, but ginger ale?? First not clothing decorating or sewing related, and second wouldn't the ginger ale be all thick and goopy from the ginger and such??
@CYNICALnAPATHETIC With regard to your questions about the ginger ale being thick and goopy, a lot of that is taken care of during the fermentation process. There will be sediment depending on how finely you grate the ginger, but the ginger ale will clarify during fermentation.
HUGE TIP IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BUY THAT BOTTLE: a balloon or condom with a small hole at the top will do well for a one way valve. Just make sure it's a tight seal to whatever container you use.
This is not Threadbanger as we know it anymore. Plain and simple. However I don't think that people are being fair to the new host (she was probably nervous! jeez... its gonna take a while to get as acclimated to the cameras as Rob and Corrine ).... Like many of you, I do think that ThreadBanger should have kept the original show teaching us new ways to jam up our closets. I like that this show gives us ideas for other useful to make other household stuff.
I totally agree with reccasquirrel. missing Rob and Corrine. the old threadbanger was full of crafty and innivative ideas. who wants to learn to make ginger ale !!!! the hosting is lame too
@doresg323 I'm not against learning how to make ginger ale. I've used YouTube for tons of homemade cooking projects. I just have an issue with a channel that was designed for crafting being used for cooking.
Im worried about the future of threadbanger...but im not gonna knock on any new presenters. id rather have this than no threadbanger at all... cheers...to keeping the dream alive.
Aw, cool beans! I had some really good ginger ale the other day from Fitz's--a Saint Louis company that makes and bottles their own soda. Awesome place to go to if you're ever visiting down-town Saint Louis--great burgers, root-beer floats, and you can even see the soda being bottled from your table.
I miss the Decor it yourself with Meg the most, this isn't "the home of DIY fashion how-tos, home décor tips, and more!" anymore.
If I wanted to know how to make ginger ale I would subscribe to a food channel.
I miss the classy things that we learnt to make from Meg, Rob and Corrine, I could care less how to make a Pikachu hat, they should have just started their own channel.
* sugar (1 cup) * freshly grated ginger root (1 1/2-2 tablespoons). Use only fresh ginger root. * juice of one lemon * fresh granular baker's yeast (1/4 teaspoon) * cold fresh pure water
Kay so, I decided to try to make this yesterday... And for anybody who wants to try it, don't fill the bottle up to the top. Really really don't. I woke up this morning to the sound of the top of my bottle somehow coming off and then the liquid all spilling out... all over the floor and some of my random things.. Not good. Then, in my half asleep state of mind I managed to knock over a glass of water that was by my bed while trying to clean up the ginger ale... >.>
I mean no ill to Tracy Hepler, but this is not the kind of video I subscribed to ThreadBangers for. A video on making ginger ale is a far cry different from videos on making Halloween costumes or ways to reuse old t-shirts. I'm not happy about the change to Threadbangers and I'm willing to give the new lineup a go, but if the channel is going to continue to focus on making Pikachu hats and ginger ale without measurements, I'll unsubscribe.
@reccasquirrel I know, yet I started an investigation and SecretLifeofABionerd has really interesting things...yet I miss the old school threadbangers :{
@reccasquirrel i agree with you completely. i'm open-minded about giving the new TB a chance, especially since i'm sure the people who are running it have talent and are doing their best. but ginger ale recipies with vague measurements? the whole pikachu costume? perhaps i'm stupid for not knowing everything, but i subscribed so that TB could teach me something i don't know. I hope the new TB's take a cue from the past videos, or else subscribers will be lost :\
Meg had a few shows were she showed everyone how to make different drinks.
Sure Treadbanger has changed a lot but don't take it out on the new hosts. Give constructive criticism and email your complaints directly to NNN.
How would you feel if you were asked to guest on TB and then get bombarded by people slamming your ideas? They are just helping out in whatever ways they can.
My concern is that she had gave no measurements. Too much yeast can turn any bottle into a rocket.
Not too useful when the only measurement I have is for lemon juice now is it?
As much as I like the attempt, this is definitely going down from what Threadbanger used to cover in terms of skills, and it's a little sad to watch. I'm just not very impressed with this,
That really doesn't look appetising... Maybe show what the bottle after its done too, so we know if its how its supposed to look, of if it goes all festy...
@noybw333 omgsh. How do I unsubscribe?! I can't find it. =[ I feel like I can't breathe! I don't want to be apart of this watered down poor excuse for DIY anymore!
Just out of curiosity...do the chunks stay in the drink? And do a lot of people keep fresh ginger on hand? I've found ginger to be very expensive locally. I can buy ginger ale for $1 at the grocery store. It might not be as great as fresh, but this could be very expensive to make, which kinda defeats the purpose for diy. Do you have a price breakdown?
@melkrist well.. the thing about storebought ginger ale is that you're not exactly sure what sort of ingredients are in there.. there's a whole buncha chemicals for flavoring and stuff, you know?
The way that's taught here is more of an organic, natural way of making ginger ale. Granted I have no idea how it tastes, but hey, some people will pay more to keep their bodies "cleaner" and healthier. just a thought :)
@projectfreak13 What about Decor-It-Yourself? It was a part of this channel and it wasn't about clothing but DIY for your home. Plus Threadbanger even had a few episodes in the past where they had food tips. Calm down and stop being so judgmental.
i think she has potential as a host for a show but i just wish they would have a legitimate host for threadbanger how it used to be. rob corrine and meg aren't coming back so we have to make the best of a shitty situation.
i wonder if the chucks of ginger get stuck in it cause that would be gross maybe after you store it use a sieve to take out the chucks??? unless they break up within the time of storage not really sure good idea but measurements and detail would work. otherwise good idea of tips on diy home drinks to save cash
There's no way anyone could drink that non-carbonated slurry of (mostly) sugar/lemon/ginger. Surely this is a base syrup meant to be mixed with carbonated water at some point before drinking?
Hi, I wanted to make this drink so went to the website to get the measurements but there is nothing about this video... It would be nice to have more information in the sidebar or somewhere. Thanks.
I'm trying to be supportive of all the new Threadbanger people, but this has NOTHING to do with sewing.
Until she does something involving fabric, thread, and a needle, I don't think she belongs on Threadbanger. Not that it's a bad show, it just belongs on a different channel.
Okay, I usually read these comments to see what people are saying, so I can laugh but how about those people complaining about threadbanger being a clothing channel, shut the heck up. Megan did an episode where she made veggie chili! Also on the forums people share more information than just how to make clothes, people post recipes too! Threadbanger is DIY, in every way possible, so making things rather its food, or cosmetics or maybe how to be ecofriendly, is the threadbanger way!
I dont want to sound horrible since you are new and everything, but this is THREADbanger. Your show would be great on a food/drink based chanel (food nation for example) but not on a fashion and decor chanel.
hahaha my subscriptions are playing, and i just watched that video by nerimon the vulva one, and all i could see in the comments was, measurements? it just sounded so wrong :L
most importantly: sanitize the bottles, the bowls, and anything else that is going to touch the ingredients! if you don't, your soda might end up full of organisms other than yeast. blech.
the temp of the water is important. aim for the warm side of warmish.
i use 1 1/2 cups sugar, 2 1/2 oz ginger, juice of 1 lemon or lime, and a bit less than 1/4 teaspoon of champagne yeast (other yeasts also work). for one gallon.
you'll want to check on it after 18 hours or so, mine is usually done in 24 :)
@b9TjhBiG you can the bottles with the flip caps like that (they're called EZ caps for some reason) in the 16 oz size... they're pretty great beacause you can check on the carbonation and then reseal them.

Do you have a price breakdown?
melkrist 1 year ago
@melkrist well.. the thing about storebought ginger ale is that you're not exactly sure what sort of ingredients are in there.. there's a whole buncha chemicals for flavoring and stuff, you know?
The way that's taught here is more of an organic, natural way of making ginger ale. Granted I have no idea how it tastes, but hey, some people will pay more to keep their bodies "cleaner" and healthier. just a thought :)

mysterymelody 1 year ago
What the fuck!? This should be in Hungrynation. Threadbanger is about clothing. Thats it I can't take it anymore I'm unsubscribing!
projectfreak13 1 year ago 5
@projectfreak13 What about Decor-It-Yourself? It was a part of this channel and it wasn't about clothing but DIY for your home. Plus Threadbanger even had a few episodes in the past where they had food tips. Calm down and stop being so judgmental.

i hate this show without corinne and rob :(
madasrabbits06 1 year ago 6
i think she has potential as a host for a show but i just wish they would have a legitimate host for threadbanger how it used to be. rob corrine and meg aren't coming back so we have to make the best of a shitty situation.

this reminds me of the the Simpsons episode where Marge comes in and says she just made some pepsi and it's still a little chunky. hahaha

i wonder if the chucks of ginger get stuck in it cause that would be gross maybe after you store it use a sieve to take out the chucks??? unless they break up within the time of storage not really sure good idea but measurements and detail would work. otherwise good idea of tips on diy home drinks to save cash

There's no way anyone could drink that non-carbonated slurry of (mostly) sugar/lemon/ginger. Surely this is a base syrup meant to be mixed with carbonated water at some point before drinking?
tsummerlee 1 year ago
@tsummerlee Actually the yeast will cause it to ferment a bit which in turn will cause it to become carbonated.
IamOdinite 1 year ago
@IamOdinite I see. Do the ginger fiber chunks stay in there?

What's the point of having a tutorial that doesn't include measurements?

Hi, I wanted to make this drink so went to the website to get the measurements but there is nothing about this video... It would be nice to have more information in the sidebar or somewhere. Thanks.

I'm trying to be supportive of all the new Threadbanger people, but this has NOTHING to do with sewing.
Until she does something involving fabric, thread, and a needle, I don't think she belongs on Threadbanger. Not that it's a bad show, it just belongs on a different channel.
Mouse6524 1 year ago 3
Okay, I usually read these comments to see what people are saying, so I can laugh but how about those people complaining about threadbanger being a clothing channel, shut the heck up. Megan did an episode where she made veggie chili! Also on the forums people share more information than just how to make clothes, people post recipes too! Threadbanger is DIY, in every way possible, so making things rather its food, or cosmetics or maybe how to be ecofriendly, is the threadbanger way!
IceCremeSurprise 1 year ago 4
@IceCremeSurprise Yes, Meg made chili, but she made home decor first. All we're saying is, this was a bad first impression.
Mouse6524 1 year ago 2
I dont want to sound horrible since you are new and everything, but this is THREADbanger. Your show would be great on a food/drink based chanel (food nation for example) but not on a fashion and decor chanel.

hahaha my subscriptions are playing, and i just watched that video by nerimon the vulva one, and all i could see in the comments was, measurements? it just sounded so wrong :L
MissNewYorkLover 1 year ago 2
here's a recipe that looks quite similar to what she did.
cane (table) sugar [sucrose] (1 cup)
Freshly grated ginger root (1 1/2-2 tablespoons)
Juice of one lemon
fresh granular baker's yeast (1/4 teaspoon)
cold fresh pure water

most importantly: sanitize the bottles, the bowls, and anything else that is going to touch the ingredients! if you don't, your soda might end up full of organisms other than yeast. blech.
the temp of the water is important. aim for the warm side of warmish.
i use 1 1/2 cups sugar, 2 1/2 oz ginger, juice of 1 lemon or lime, and a bit less than 1/4 teaspoon of champagne yeast (other yeasts also work). for one gallon.
you'll want to check on it after 18 hours or so, mine is usually done in 24 :)
xMouseBrownx 1 year ago 3
Thats SOOO much sugar. And uh measurments?
dillpickleboocutie 1 year ago
You guys are sure worried about measurements. Size isn't everything. Bahaha! ... Sorry. I'm really tired.
missnerdgirl 1 year ago 2
What size bottle? How much of everything? Pretty darn useless without some basic informataion.
b9TjhBiG 1 year ago 7
@b9TjhBiG you can the bottles with the flip caps like that (they're called EZ caps for some reason) in the 16 oz size... they're pretty great beacause you can check on the carbonation and then reseal them.
xMouseBrownx 1 year ago
isn't that wayy too much sugar?!? ;(
