thanks for putting this video togather. this is my favorite song at the moment and i appreciate u showing how to play it. dave is such a phenomenal guitarist.
Outstanding! This is an fantastic song by DMB! Now I can play it somewhat need more practice on the first part hammer on. But, it's all there! Thanks to you! Nice Job Teaching! I believe you are one of the better instructors on the TUBE!!! Can't find the second part tutorial but I'll keep a lookin! EasyAsPieGuitarGuy! Thanks again. See you at a coffee shop somewhere! Ha........
ya know...i finger pick this song and use my thumb to hit the bass notes more...and lately i've been hiding the pick with my pointer finger and using it only for the chorus and louder parts of the song......but you have the chords spot on brother!
i would reccommend playing the verse with your index finger and ring finger only and not your middle because if you were to play with middle finger it becomes real tricky at 3:45 when you continue on with the verse because theres a huge finger movement.
great video, just saying its easier if you use your middle finger to hit the g in the beggining and just slide your index up to the 4th fret in the first verse
for chorus if you just use your middle finger the entire time instead of switching ring to middle is also easier
I sooooo subscribed to you dude... left handed here.. You tutored this song excellent. I'm a 6 year "beginner" self taught and trying to play this for my 21 year old son, who will bawl his eyes out when he hears it...big DMB fan.
Hey great video. Just wondering if you could post the strum pattern for the part after the intro at about 4:35. its hard to figure out what the pattern is because its relatively fast, especially the a minor chord. thanks!!
I was so excited to find this video, but i'm still a very basic beginner.. is there any way you could post another video focusing better or more on the picking and strumming pattern? thanks!
Haha I was wondering how long it would take for someone to catch that...I don't know why I thought he did, but you are absolutely correct, he plays this is standard tuning.
@EasyAsPieGuitar probably because it sounds more natural when you drop the E to a D. i actually like the sound more so i understand where you're coming from. not that im sayin dave has it wrong. i love the guy even if i've never met him
Just wanted to say thanks....I know you have many people here giving you kudos....so I just wanted to be another to say thanks for taking your time to stick this up. Was very helpful...I love Dave but I find so much of his stuff to be hard to play. Thanks again.
Thanks so much! I've only known how to play things I am able to teach myself I don't know many techniques just the chords... since dave is so much more intricate in that you really helped me finally be able to play his songs! thank you very much, these are so awesome and helpful.
This is great -- thanks! One suggestion -- when there's the pull off from the C (3rd fret, A string) to the A5 chord (at about 8:15 in the video) it sounds like the band throws in a little C to D in there, punctuated towards the end, so it's not all A5 prior to the full A chord which leads into the chorus again (I'd post a video to explain, but I'm not able to right now). Anyway, give it a listen, see if you know what I mean, and thanks again!

He does not drop the E-string to a D. He plays it with standard-tuning. Thanks for posting the video though. keep it up working on that guitar.

Maybe it's cause he does play at least one song on BWGGK in drop D.
Shake Me Like a Mokey, I think?
Either way, fantastic video :)

You are correct. I left it out because, well, it's hard, and I thought it'd be too hard for the average player.
But, if the viewers want to try, you just slide up to a D (5th fret of the A string) every other time you play a C.
I'll do it when I get around to doing the 2nd video with the ending of the song.
Thanks for the comment!
