  • Nice stang. I just ran my bone stock electric green 2000 GT last night. With my 6 year old 26x9.5-15 Hoosier Quick Time Pro street slicks with 15psi, my best time was 13.729 @ 100.03mph launching at 2,500rpm. I got it a month ago and not sure what I'm going to do with it. I found a 03 Cobra with a blown motor due to overheating, and might do some type of trade or cash offer and sell this one. If he doesn't do the deal, I'll probably make mine a Cobra powered.

  • Nice bro,I have BBK intake,BBK 70mmTB,Cobra upper/lower fully ported,BBK pullys,BBK LTs,BBK x-pipe,Flowmaster 40's dumped,MSD wires,MSD blaster coil,MSD cap/rotor,NGK TR6's,and its a built 306 but its low compression :'-( i guess for boost in the near future lol I mean i bought a donor car with a nasty shell but the motor is FRESH oh and it has either a B303 or F303 because its HEAVY,,,Im going to do a turbo kit so itll move,im just lookin for 400 wheel and im happy..

  • Nice kill bro,wat mods on the 5.0?Im trying to estimate because I havent took mine to the track yet and im itching to go to badly lol I just did a swap in my V6 to 5.0 check out my video!

  • @96STANG302 Thanks. Mods at the time were cold air intake, underdrive pulleys, Mac 1 5/8" longtube headers, Mac 2.5" o/r h-pipe, I'm guessing 3-chamber flowmasters, 10* or 12* base timing on 91 octane, some aftermarket shifter, and full length subframes. The motor itself was completely stock, from oil pan to throttle body. Not sure what the d/a was that night, but this track I think is 1800' above sea level

I like that you went w/ the 5.0, definitely not something everyone expects in the sn95.

  • @LucasMcCain1223 Hey, I know this video has been up for a while, but thought I'd shout at you anyway. I just picked up the "last of the 5.0", a '95 manual tranny, with little but the exhaust done to it. I've watched numerous vids, but you seem to be one of the least biased car guys I've run acrost. I am looking for advice. If you've time, could you advise me as to the easiest, practical way to produce more HP in the little girl? Thanks, but if busy, I understand.

  • @Downedworker I appreciate compliment. I sent you a message because you can only type so much in a comment.

  • this is bull shit no way does a stock cobra 305 flywheel horse power keep up with a 20psi 5.0 boosted v8 because 20psi on a boosted v8 means he has a serious fuel system and other mods to hold up to that kind of power and it should be a 10 sec car and the 96 cobra should run 13's this is fake or some one needs driving lessons really bad

  • @makaveli828 lol My tire pressure was at 20 psi. Both cars are n/a.

  • It was on the 5th.

  • lose the first 30 secs of video

  • noted

  • someone was sleep at the light lol

  • Cutting a good light doesn't lower your e.t. Sure it was a grudge match, but since it was only my second pass on sticky tires, I was more focused on leaving when I was ready, and getting the lowest e.t. possible. Try actually racing your car at the track and maybe you'll understand what I'm talking about.

  • hey man the way the camera man is just looking at the cars and not the tree it looks like yall are going heads up but i didknt know that you were spoting the Cobra a light but i have made a pass also and im at the dragstrip almost every weekend so i do know somewhat about racing lol

  • I didn't spot the light, it was a heads up race.

  • i mean im not tryin to be a dick about it but did you leave late or did he red light or summin?

  • I left late. I took my time getting the rpm's where I wanted, and dropped the clutch when I felt ready which happened to be after the light turned green.

  • I'm not talking about the cobra in this video, im talking about the 95 gt, that cobra should, in my opinion, run faster times.

If you notice the guy in the red mustang is a stock 5.0. It sounded like you were saying BOTH cars in this video didn't know what they were doing, that gt runs a damn good time for what it has. consider it runs a better time than a cobra as well.

  • Is it just me or do those times suck? I mean, neither car hooked up off the line but still, high thirteens to fourteens with modded cars. Someone is new to the strip

  • Are you serious? a untouched motor including the intake with just gear exhaust and pullies running this time is damn good, the 60ft could be lower and the psi on the tires was too high as stated before, maybe you should do your homework or actually visit a track once in awhile just to get a visual whats out there. You have no idea what you are talking about burney so go back to the drawing board kid it is just you that sucks, not those times.

  • Maybe sucks was too strong of a word. I'll give you that. The cobra should be running consistent low 13.6's if the guy had experience with those mods (yes on street tires). I have seen High 13.7's on a BONE STOCK cobra with factory street tires. You just have to get a feel for the hook-up rpm's. The GT had an acceptable time, I will give you that.

  • So what you're saying is, the cobra should be running 13.6's on street tires... w/ the 95mph trap speed?

And just out of curiosity, what does your cobra run?

  • no the cobra should be running that with a 105 trap speed

  • Fuck 4.6 motors! they arent shit without a supercharger or nitrous! they are weak! ford made a huge mistake making 4.6 modular motors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i do no agree or disagree with you. ford has done some awesome things with the 4.6 and 5.4 mod motors, but the old 5.0's are easy and cheap to build up. my dad has an 88 gt that is a stump puller, but my supercharged 03 gt destroy's it.

  • Get a 5.0..better more reliable engines..more room to work with in the sn95 body style compared to a smaller 4.6 where tehres less room to work with. More engine mods available and well 5.0 outpulls a 4.6 that ford claimed was suppose to be better then a 5.0...lieing basterds..4.6 blows they gotta supercahrge them to make any power..and they go to hell easily ..My buddy richy went through 3 4.6 03 cobra motors within 40k on his car with his mods..

  • He was probably beating the shit out of it.. 4.6 all the way!

  • Coming from someone who has both a 5.0 and a 4.6 i am not biased, so i will tell you that in no way is the 4.6 a bad engine, in no way at all.If your boy has gone through 3 motors on his 03 Cobra (doubtful) then he cant drive for sheott and is doing something severely wrong. And since you are a 5.0 owner and lover yourself, your opinion is biased and should be looked at as null and void by anyone who reads it. All they have to do is look at your name to see where your opinion comes from.

  • I couldn't see which one won,and the 94 was a 5.0l v8 right and the 96 was a 4.6l v8 right??? i might get one for myself soon but cant figure which one to get...94-95 with the 5.0l or the 96-98 with the 4.6l...im thinking ill get the 5.0 any info???

  • The 5.0 won. And yeah, you have the years and engines right. I say 5.0 hands down. They aren't the best when stock (yet w/ my few mods I ran a best of 13.55 @ 100mph), but they have a lot of potential. It also depends on what you wanna do w/ it. Do you just wanna slap a supercharger or nitrous on there and call it a day? Or take advantage of the 5.0 and actually tear into the engine and build a Frankenstein? Also, if you go w/ a 4.6 I would at least suggest a '99-'04 which have the PI motor.

  • thanks for all the info. but i think if i get one which i hope i can that ill probably get the 5.0 94 or 95. they seem better and id probably get a supercharger, nos and engine mods like mayb make it a 351cubic inch by boring it out and bigger pistons, etc all over time ofcourse not all at once lol but i hope that would be my fun/take to shows/hobby car:)

  • Yeah, no problem. Just remember that you're bound to run into problems when modifying an engine, so don't get discouraged and quit when that happens. Good luck.

  • thanks:)

  • I have an '82 5.0 with some decent bolt-ons. On my g-tech accelerometer thing I ran 14.45 @ 97.3 mph on 60 dollar tires that literally just spin and don't hook at all. How much of a difference in your ET and speed did the E/T streets make?

  • At this track I ran a best of 14.7 @ 97mph w/ something like a 2.40 60' which was on street tires, and no burnout. So basically I dropped a full sec. w/ the ET Streets. In this video, I pulled a 1.90 60' (which can definitely be improved). My speed went up 2 mph, which I think was helped out by the taller tires because I didn't run out of gear like before (didn't rev high enough through the traps to hit valve float).

  • Yea I ran a 14.45, 14.57, 14.65 and then a bunch of 14.8s, all between 95 and 97.5 mph. My 60 foot times are always 2.35 or slower. Last time I was at the actual dragstrip when my car was stock, it did 2.38 60 foot consistently. Hopefully i'll be like you and drop a full second with tires! How good do the E/T Streets hook? Like can you stab the gas and dump the clutch from 4000 rpm and just go or will they spin if you try to launch too hard?

  • They hook really good. I spun on this run because I had the tire pressure a little high (20psi) and didn't heat them good enough. If you lower the pressure, do a good burnout, and launch a little higher, then you should pull some high 1.7x short times. On my 13.55 pass, I had them at 17 psi and dumped the clutch at 5,000 rpm, and never spun (1.79 60'). Just play with the tire pressure and see what your car likes (that's why I started at 20psi, so I could lower it from there).

  • From what it sounds like your car isn't really built, so I wouldn't recommend putting on slicks and dumpin the clutch at 5 grand, you'll have the drive shaft lookin like a pretzel. Get an aluminum drive shaft and a safety loop first. Otherwise youre gonna spend more on fixing parts than what the car is worth

  • Well it's got a new 8.8" rear end. Stock SROD trans but the SROD is a top loader which is a stronger case design than a T5 and I know plenty of people do 11s with stock T5s. I don't think I need to worry abotu the drive shaft in a 2900 lb car with 260 flywheel hp. Aluminum is soft, i'd rather stick with the stock driveshaft. I'm just staying with street tires for now tho.

  • very good race guys!!!!!

  • thanks

  • Can't go wrong with those sacto beats =)
