Dylan didn't come up with the melody to this song anyway, as well as other songs by him. Thats just how things went at the time. People learned and played each others music because they liked it.

Bruce isn't the only one to cover it either...several hundred artists have recorded this song.

Look up 'No More Auction Block' by Odetta Holmes. It's much older than Dylan himself
