If Cell used instantaneous transmission right before he was obliterated inside the Kamehameha (before his arms was completely gone to) , he could have survived. When Vegeta hit him with a Ki blast, Cell looked backwards and saw Vegata, so he would have had his Ki sense and could teleport near him. Wouldn't that make for a good "what if" scenario?

So by the time vegeta hit him he didnt hav enough power to do instant transmission. But like u said. A "WHAT IF". I jus wanted to point out the facts. Great idea though.

And then when Trunks went back to his time to kill Cell after he knew of his existence. But, because of a separate and "third" dimension where trunks dies at the hands of cell and then comes to the "first" dimension, that is where this scene plays out. The whole Trunks and the time machine really throws some weird twists in the story.
