  • does the fluorescent bulb have mercury in it?

  • How did you get the lens so exquisitely clean?

  • @slaterms11 It was clean when I got the street light.

  • I wish I had a streetlight.

  • Damn, you have a nice yard! In that fixture, one might mistake that for mercury vapor. Nice!

  • @VICNASTY1989 Thanks!

  • how much did it cost? what is the cheapest hid lamp? I need one for my backyard for my crooked tree.

  • @poiiihy The fixture I got from my local electrical company. The HID bulbs... well most of them are around $20.

  • wow it's sooo not bright!

  • cool idea, that RULES!!!!!

  • @TheSoxmania This fixture now has a 400watt MH/MV ballast in it!

  • Wow...that is a COOL conversion!

  • Love the lamp and the conversion you have made to it. I love the pure white daylight emitted from the bulb and how it is refracted through the diffuser. I don't know about screwing the mounting arm into a tree though.

  • cool

  • wish i could do that!.

  • @pspfreak1000 ikr

  • Do you leave it on at night? Cause that would be awesome!

  • @sodiumvapor13 Sometimes I leave it on at night but 90% of the time it is off so it does not bother other people at night.

  • Cool! Can you purchase 50-watt mercury lamps in the US? I have a 50-watt mercury lamp running off a 58-watt fluorescent ballast which lights up my garden

  • @fiesta1117cc Yes we can still get 50watt MV bulbs in the US! I have one!

  • @Parrot175 Have you tried running that 50-watt MV bulb in that electronic ballast?

    If yes does it work?

I have loads of magnetic ballasts but no electronic ballasts yet

In the UK magnetic ballasts are still the dominant fixture even in modern fittings The electronic ones haven’t court up yet but as they say the UK is always 10 years behind America ie they are still using 50-watt MV bulbs for lighting up traffic ballads & large road signs
