  • i liked this video and i think janbee1122 was a bit too harsh with you.

  • They're kids, be happy their doing their homework.

yes but there were many flaws it seems that they were trying to close the case up quickly to me.

  • You may want to keep in mind, in the interest of objectivity, that not everyone is convinced of his innocence. There is a reason that more than a half dozen Attorneys-General turned down his requests to overturn the original verdict and it was not because they feared a civil judgement.

  • @OPPgreg wwell i think a pretty good question to examine is why are some police offiicers are so driven to get who they want to say is guilty that such a horrible injustice happens?

  • Regarding the shot of the girl in the pond waving to Steven, this is not from any of the evidence presented at the trial and so I am not terribly convinced as to the seriousness of your project. Also, what kind of teacher doesn't mark a project "just because he didn't feel like it"? Lastly, you exhonerate yourselves for not producing a quality video because you only had two days. "Give us a break"??. Steven was only one year older than you; who gave him a break? Do it right or don't do it.

  • I'm sorry but I don't feel comfortable with you saying that about my teacher, actually. The real story is that it was the end of the year and time had run out.

Yeah, I understand the situation he was in, thanks. We had a fifteen page written report on it that was completely serious.

Excuse me for adding comic releif. And, as for the river scene it was in relation to the CBC story my partner and I watched, it was almost a recreation of a scene. I'm sorry it wasn't up to your standards.

  • If you don't want to be critiqued, then don't put your video up on YouTube. Comic relief doesn't belong in a documentary about a serious crime like murder and is certainly not called for in a video that is under five minutes long. How would you like it if someone did a video about you being falsely convicted and sentenced to life in prison and added comedic scenes? Respect the man you are portraying and respect the victim of this crime. Be snippy with me all you like, you made a bad video.

  • I didn't say I didn't want to be critiqued.

But I find it funny that you are putting so much effort into tearing apart a project made by a couple of thirteen year old kids. To be honest, the audience intended was more thirteen year old kids, and it was the last couple days of school. The comic relief was intended for that audience, need I remind you of our excessively thorough written report?

We completely respect the seriousness of the case, and were merely keeping our audience in mind.

  • wow this was amazing!

i love you guys :) haha.

and like, omg! NIKKI, you look good dead,

    ....

    .......

    and alive :) hahaha.

    LOVE YOU GUYS

  • Ok, I'll admit I'm being a bit too hard on you. I watched it again and now realize that a girl actally portrays the character of Butch. It is not that evident at first glance and was the reason behind one of my earlier comments about straying from the facts. To make up for it, let me just say that your mastery of the written language is impressive. You articulate better than most adults on here.

  • Well, thank you.

I really didn't mean for this video to offend anyone, and that is why I became so defensive. We really were focusing on our main audience, and being insensitive was certainly not the intent.

I really did my research-more so, than this video may show, and I apologize for not keeping the video as serious as it should have been. We were also short for time, and that effected the outcome. Sorry.

  • No need to apologize. I critiqued you and you defended yourself very well. Charges dismissed! :-)

  • @JanBee1122 personally i think your criticism was overly excessive.what is the comic relief that you feel is disrespectful? do you have a problem with the scene at the river? why wouldnt he be laughing with his friend there if he had just dropped lynn off?

  • @malscott Yes, we went through this all a year ago. I have had numerous discussions with the young lady who was involved in making the film and she felt the same as you. I think if you read all of my comments, you will see my entire perspective on this. My point at the time was that I felt the video was really too short to accurately capture the essence of this case. I realize I was a bit hard on them but ultimately my criticisms were received and defended very well. No one lost any sleep..

  • @JanBee1122 it was short yes. yes and i see now that all was discussed before. sorry for flogging a dead horse.

  • btw i am sorry, but the music you put in his video was not really supporting the issue at all, i don't think you realize how serious this case was. Steven Truscott was the youngest boy to be sentanced to death in Canada, its not a laughing matter.

  • yes but the music was celebrating the fact that his case was one that made people think about abolishing the death sentence.

Celebrating the fact that Steven Truscott was NOT killed, and the fact that we believe in his innocence.

  • This Truscott guy killed that girl. There is n odoubt. Trucott is a liar and he admited it.

  • what? truscott was an innocent man! why would he be faking it for 40 years on trial? there was a known rapest that was lurking the city and he had the same car that Lynn jumped into that Steven saw, but before the guy was trialed, he died.

  • wow this video is increadably insenitive. you obviusly have no idea what really happened and the effect it had on everyone involved's life. this is disgusting

  • how is this insensitive, or disgusting at all?

we did quite a bit of research and if you had read our written report you would have known that we took the subject seriously and we really do empathize with the people involved.

maybe parts of the video were not as serious as they should have been, but i think we got our points across, and i don't feel like it was insensitive by any means. it was not at all meant to be a mockery and i apologize if it offended you, that was not the intention.

  • haha( or haha is mean? .__. ) really good vid

  • i must say i agree that he was innocent, i was raised in mitchell (and now live in clinton) and took this in law class (when they thought he was still guilty) and argued my point on his innocence and think it was a good shot at a renactment and think your teacher should allow it and you should of argued your point it is an important part of this areas heritage as well as you were right

  • thank you, so much, but i feel i must tell you my teacher just decided not to mark not for any specific reason, just for the fact that he didn't feel like marking any of the projects done by our classmates.

but thanks for the feedback, it means a lot.

  • hello we did this video in all of three hours, walking filming editing and preparing included. the entire video is about how we don't know who did it but we don't think it was him, also we are thirteen year old kids making a video for a history project that was due in two days, give us a break

  • It sounds like you were accusing truscott through that whole video. Plus it was bad acting.

  • thanks so much for this comment it means so much coming from you, we walked all the way from clinton to vanastra and back only to find out that our teacher wasn't going to grade our project. it's nice to see that all our work paid off. although, our written report was for nothing, haha. well thanks sooo soo much for this comment.
