Good comment. But as well as freedom you need the idea/conviction that the Universe is Rational. This is lacking in Islam. In Islam "Allah" can do whatever he pleases. In Christianity God is Rational and creates the world in a reasonable order. Since there is reason in the universe then it can be investigated by the use of reason. This led the way to flourishing of Science in Western Europe.

The Bible never even says we should allow people to commit evil period, the concept Spencer spoke of is purely speculation based on things that were written in the Bible regarding free will. 4:12, spencer says 4:40 "ability to do good is nothing without ability to do evil otherwise it is hollow", jesus talks about the tears and wheat being inseperable until the end. so lets take the bible literally, there should be no laws against evil actions, no laws against lying, gossiping, adultery as in western countries because people should be free to choose. where do we draw the line, there is no line, let people murder, steal, rape and choose jesus if they want.
