You honestly think that if/when the post office shuts down UPS and fedex prices are going to stay the same with the increased workflow? They are going to have to hire more people and possibly purchase new buildings to handle the business... Besides that, you only pay for what you use, if you don't use it you don't get charged, pretty simple. Do they not teach economics where you come from?

Roadyrider... If you get too aggresive you will not be getting any mail. There are regulations concerning your mail box. MANY boxes do not meet these regulations and mail is still delivered.

Maybe that dog could have been saved if you'd reported her for that outrageous behavior, and gotten her fired earlier. Don't hesitate; she had a lot more to lose than you. Her petty behavior over such a non-issue showed risk of worse behavior. Cut them down early, before they get worse.

I discovered that the carrier returned 2 small packages from Hong Kong because my name wasn't inside the mailbox. I called the PO, and a woman told me that's the policy here in State College, PA. Is that USPS policy? Is that in the DMM not to even attempt delivery or inquire?

Sorry you had such a bad experience with your mailcarrier, we are not all like that. I love your spring loaded mailbox. You should market that idea. Being a carrier myself, I can understand why she is always in a big hurry (grueling time restrictions) BUT, it sounds like she has a bit of an attitude problem as well. If the local postmaster doesn't remedy your problem, call the district office. Something WILL be done :)

@bctruck I hope your new carrier exhibits the professionalism that is expected from USPS personnel and takes pride in the service they provide to their customers (You would be surprised what a couple of cookies or a thank you note left in the box for your carrier will do for your level of service) As a carrier, you can be fired for using reverse in a delivery vehicle unless it is absolutely unavoidable. This is regulation and applies to POV's and USPS delivery vehicles. Best of luck :)
As a mail carrier I can tell you that we are not supposed to use reverse, it is a safety policy and we can get in trouble for it. Love the spring though, wish all of my customers would do that.

@lolahavasuaz well i got home and all my mail was dry!!!! but, i had a note from the postmaster saying my box wasnt at the hieght required by postal code blah blah blah. i went to the post office web site and found the required hight (the bottom edge of opening has to be between 41 and 45 inches fromt the ground) so i went out with a shovel and scraped about 3 inches of dirt away,then left a note telling her it was at exactly 42 inches,which fell within postal code requirments! she hates me!

she can turn in my driveway. ive seen her backup so i know mail jeeps have reverse.my mail box is less than a year old.it was the best sold at lowes. i have a job. im an owner operator.its not a big deal,its actually very funny that she thinks shes getting even with me for asking her not to drive in my yard.i have a post office box but some mail comes to my house also.not to worry. ups,fedex provide much better service than overpaid posta service workers. now fuck off please.

What do you expect her to do...you don't even have a big enough turn around area by your house...You're lucky you even get service! Why don't you get a PO box and save Everybody the headache of listening to you cry!!!

I mean Get A Life and choose your battles! You act like this is seriously a big deal. I'd like to see you get a life...get a job and try to please 800 customers a day. Maybe you should try getting a decsent mailbox! I'm sure she actually appreciated the spring. Congratulations...you fixed it cause it was a POS before!!!

@lolahavasuaz well i got home and all my mail was dry!!!! but, i had a note from the postmaster saying my box wasnt at the hieght required by postal code blah blah blah. i went to the post office web site and found the required hight (the bottom edge of opening has to be between 41 and 45 inches fromt the ground) so i went out with a shovel and scraped about 3 inches of dirt away,then left a note telling her it was at exactly 42 inches,which fell within postal code requirments! she hates me!

@calitrucker1 you wouldnt believe how many soggy magazines and credit card bills ive pulled out of that box before i came up with this idea. its just a bit odd that everybody elses box on my street gets closed up tight and mine gets left open a good inch. this is the same lady that mowed over my next door nieghbors garbage can cause the trash truck people emptied it then left it in front of the mail box. she just drove into it real fast and kmoxked out into the street a few feet. shes KRAAAAZY!

her motivation was the fact that i didnt want her driving up in my yard to make a turn. if itwas an occasional thing ,i wouldnt have saID A WORD. SHE DID IT 6 DAYS A WEEK. AFTER 2 WEEKS MY GRASS WAS DISAPPEARING AND IT WAS HARD TO MOW THRU THE RUTS SHE MADE. damn caps lock!i got tired of soggy mail. and decided to make impossible for her to "accidently" leave my mailbox open. she,s a nutty old gal.
